The three star rating of this agency are false. These managers that say it's such a great place to work are telling lies. If it was such a great place they'd still be with the agency. I've seen people in management, counselors, techs and other support staff quit in a number of weeks. People are leaving to find jobs that pay better with a better work environment. The trainings consist of two trainings at the corporate location in Orlando for CPR and CPI. This is where your training will come to an abrupt halt because you will not be trained how to do your job by your site manager. You will instead be told we learn as we go here. Their are 14 different documents you have to fill out for EACH client. You will also have to do on task notes for corporate, two peer reviews for your site manager and send clients a client satisfaction survey for the agencies main funding sources Medicaid/ Medicare. The coworkers you will work with will gossip and keep up drama and this includes the manager. The meetings you attend will have little to do with agencies new guidelines and more about coworkers lives and gossip about other people who work for the agency. The clients will be mainly online and basically you can do this job from home but it's not an option. The clients will be in and out of therapy before you know it because adults get 6-8 sessions and kids 10-12 although you see more kids than adults. The adult clients you will see have SEVERAL diagnosis so there's no way you can address any issues in such a short time frame. Your "manager" will try to force feed you clients who should be doing addictions therapy and try to MAKE you work outside of your abilities. The manager will also put you at risk to be sued and loose your license. 

The moment I step onto the unit we have to do our shift change and then I begin by getting the menu selection ready to go around and ask the clients what they would like for the lunch and dinner. Then as breakfast arrives we get everyone up to eat and then we begin our day for taking their medication and seeing the medical doctor and the psych doctor. Then they usually have lunch and then continue to the day room while their rooms are being cleaned. Then we find out who will be discharged and then we start that process. As we start discharging, we then start getting new admission. About this time it's dinner time then it's hygiene time. After everyone is cleaned up when let them go into the dayroom and watch tv or do some activity stuff. Later they get medication then at 10pm it's bed time. That would be a great day if it went just that way but usually in the mix of all that we get clients being very combative and rude. Some get extremely out of control and then we have to call a "code gray" which others come to help with getting the client under control. You usually will get yell at by several clients and get call every name you can think of. We just have to remember not to take it personal because we are dealing with mental patients.

1. Communication is not fluid between departments/units. Each unit/department operate in their own way, which results in confusion and disorganization in regards to clients care/treatment.
2. Safety is a huge concern. 1 safety officer staffed for entire hospital and almost impossible to get a hold of said safety officer in cases of emergency. Clients have been able to sneak into the facility on several occasions.
3. There is no policy in place for individuals abusing the system, specifically treating the inpatient psychiatric facility as a homeless shelter.
4. Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) tend to speak for clients or try and coach them what to say for voluntary admission when they are refusing to complete an LEO BA52. LEO can do no wrong and get to be unprofessional with staff due to the grant the hospital has with Orange County and OPD.
5. Short staffed almost always. 1 person doing the job of 4 people.
6. Policy changes frequently and constantly, more times than not, there are new rules daily. Difficult to keep up with plethora of constant changes.
7. Workplace gossip is rampant. Staff discussing all things under the sun such as personal intimate relationships, an insane amounts of profanity, and all around unprofessional.

Aspire is a great place if you want to get your foot in the door in social work. Great place to gain experience. Don’t expect to get paid well. Working here made me realize that having a degree doesn’t guarantee you a well-paying job. Helping clients find jobs where they pay well over my salary is a big slap on the face. I don’t make enough to keep up with the cost of living and sadly, I’m on the verge of homelessness. Another big slap on the face is when the company increased salaries (mine went up 60 cents an hour) and took away resources in order to maintain the higher ups salaries and company revenue. I am playing apart of a job that should be split between 5 employees yet they pay me pennys on the dollar. All of my responsibilities don’t allow me to give the best service to my clients. My clients suffer due to myself not being available to help them due to the amount of other tasks I’m responsible for. Regardless, management is understanding because they know we can’t provide the best service due to the nature of the job & lack of resources. Anyways, if you want to get your foot in the door, work for aspire! Don’t have high expectations for this company. If you’re able to start somewhere else, please do! Maybe you won’t end up homeless like me. 

I am sure that if one works on a specific team where the supervisor cares that the experience would be more positive. However, that was not the case for me. My supervisor overlooked me for position I was clearly qualified for multiple times. The only people who were encouraged were the favorites. If you are hardworking,  honest, and outspoken, you will be overlooked for promotions, ignored, used only to benefit them, and treated like you lack intelligence. If you voice your opinion you will get reprimanded and they will set you up so they can humiliate you as a professional and make you feel like your unworthy. The sad thing is, this is a MH provider so you would think they treat their employees with dignity and ethically. Well think again!! They treat the people who go above and beyond like they don’t exist unless they need you to do their bid. Sadly the clients suffer for the ignorance of upper management. I wouldn’t work in specific departments at this agency because of the employees they hire. 

When it comes to being a BHT at Aspire, the job itself is not hard at all. There are a lot of things wrong with Orlando's Aspire as management doesn't ever have your back or even tell you anything unless you go talk to one of their favorite staff. One on manager has your back but everyone else is playing childish games like you will notice how every shift is their own family but yea the shifts don't even talk to each other as there is communication but also there isn't communication as this job as a whole is just a job filled with broken parts that you would think would go together but they don't want to be together for whatever reason. This job is a meh(3) as it has its good moments but also a lot of bad moments so if you like organization in your life, don't pick this job but if you need an easy job that happens to somewhat pay decent, then I would pick this job on third shift as everyone is sleeping and you can pretty do you need to do without the noises. 

A typical work day for me began around 6.30a.  that way i was there for the change of shift @ 7am.  I would start the day with my rounds to the various departments that i had staff working in, i.e. Central Receiving Center, Access Center,  Medication Clinics, adults and children, Outpatient Therapy, adults ad children, Addiction counseling for both again.
I would then return to my office and do the collections for the previous day. and deal with any assistance that my staff needed.
I would go to any meeting that I needed to attend.  i would review the insurances for the different departments as needed.  i would assist in the Access Center with registration or anything else that was needed. I would cover  the off shifts if i was unable to find coverage for them. i would work until around 5pm to 6 pm for the evening shift to come in and handle any problems that my arise.

Please do not work here. They pay you horribly, management treats you terribly, there is no work life balance and for a company that is in the mental health field, they are completely uninterested in the mental health of their employees or the clients. The place is too top heavy with all these executive VPs that make all the money while the people doing the actual work of counseling barely make enough for a living. They give you 5 days off a year in PTO which is your vacation, sick time, personal time all of it rolled together. All they care about is your productivity. You get called into the office to be talked to about how much you are billing for the department while they pay you $17 an hour. They don't care if you are actually helping any clients, they just care what you are billing. The free supervision is not worth it for the mental anguish you experience here. Save yourself the hassle. 

Every day I wake up excited to go to work. The "Case of the Mondays" doesn't exists here for me.

Aspire Health provides a valuable and much needed service to the community. At every level you get to work with people that help to make this possible. As big as we are, every day it feels like I get to work with my family and close friends. The relationships formed working here will last a lifetime.

Aspire Health has given my desire to work with technology purpose. My work to provide an advanced, secure, efficient environment for our staff, helps them provide a valuable service to our community. A service that means so much to so many people. One that saves lives, transforms communities, and changes the world.

Things can sometimes be busy and intense. Lazy days can often turn into a daunting gauntlet of challenges. But is that not the case in all places? However, at Aspire, you are never left to fend for yourself. Together we have been able to accomplish more than we could imagine.

I’d run as fast as I can from this company, especially the location in Cocoa. Management does nothing but cover their back sides and treats floor staff like second class citizens. 

You are not a behavioral health technician but an underpaid over glorified baby sitter for juvenile delinquents (Cocoa location) that are sent there by the courts instead of juvenile detention.  This location is contracted by the Department of Juvenile Justice. 

After you pay for your insurance and other benefits you basically make less than minimum wage.  No pay raises yet management got a nice healthy bonus for being under budget. 

Management does not listen to staff or enforce rules and regulations (except for when QI is going to happen). Management will punish you and change your shift if you do something that irks them. They say you can advance in the company that is very far from the truth! Don’t apply here if you don’t have to!
