A typical work day is prepared to be stressed because as a front desk or a PAS, at the HOAK location on 2009 brown street, is currently what it's called be prepared to work your butt off. Not only are you do data entry work in the client's chart but you're also doing insurance checks, going through the list of trying to file paperwork that's faxed in & filing charts, taking payments, calling clients to schedule for injections lab work & anything else plus there are 2 systems( Mix & Athena)you might have to schedule clients in both, schedule client rides to the office if they have a certain insurance, know all the provider schedules & they all work different hours. 3 out of the 5 days you have to take a late night. 1 day out of the week you'll work to 8pm unless you have your team quit then be prepared to work all 3 late nights. Struggle with the the constant battle of getting all the ppw needed and signed correctly and signed cus the system glitched or the client didn't want to sign, because Aspire is to cheap to update or fix anything to help clients or employees involved in the process. Last time I knew it was State run. Hardest part of the job other than the work load is dealing with coworkers that treat you like your less then them because you just do "front desk" The most enjoyable part of the job was when I got to interact with clients that I had grown to care about & recognize that even though I was a lowly, underpaid, front desk rep I was still able to help others out. Eventually though I felt like after almost a year of trudging thru the trenches I became super depressed. Tried to keep my coworker from quitting cus she was at her wits end too. She would cry almost every day at work. According to the providers they say it's normal for front desk staff to come & go... 

Anyone that has worked in community mental health knows that it is hard work, stressful, so many obligations for doing notes, service hours/utilization/billable time as most of the clients receiving services have Medicaid, HIP, or Medicare as a payer source. As many of us also know, dealing with government reimbursement, this is one of the hardest parts of the job. However, people are not terminated for not meeting their service hours. Do some people quit because they feel overwhelmed? Sure. It is the nature of the beast that is community mental health. However, I know as a manager and the experience I have had when I was a clinician, is that the managers are very supportive and will work with you as best as they can. In all the years I have worked in this field, it is the only one where I have actually made my service hours consistently.

Salaries were recently increased across the board after the company paid for a consulting firm to review the market as a whole. Some people received significant increases. They do not do annual reviews, but have just a couple of items you need to meet in order to get an increase each year. Only place I have been that consistently does this and does not put outrageous goals in place that make it so you never get an increase.

The company uses the Predictive Index as a way to better learn how as a manager, I can adapt to my employee's needs and behaviors, instead of the other way round. This has proven to be successful and has really allowed for employees and managers and employees and employees to learn how to work together and build each other's strengths up. 

Overall, I am so happy to come to work every day. I love the people I work with. Are there days that are more challenging than others? Absolutely! I feel more supported and respected here than I have at any other job I have worked at over the years.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
My experience working at Aspire Indiana Health highlighted several challenges related to communication, staff support, and workload expectations. While the organization serves an important mission in the community, there were times when staff concerns did not feel adequately acknowledged or addressed.

As a therapist, caseloads were consistently very high, which made it challenging to balance client care, documentation, and administrative expectations. When concerns about caseload size were raised and requests were made to reduce caseloads, the response often appeared to prioritize productivity metrics over clinician workload and sustainability.

Additionally, when seeking clarification on policies, decisions, or expectations, responses sometimes felt vague and lacked transparency. This made it difficult at times to feel fully informed about certain decisions or organizational changes.

There also seemed to be a disconnect between messaging around staff self-care and the practical expectations of the role. While staff were encouraged to prioritize self-care, attempts to set boundaries or adjust workload to support well-being did not always appear to be taken into consideration.

Aspire plays an important role in serving the community, and strengthening communication, improving transparency, and placing greater emphasis on clinician support and manageable caseloads could significantly improve both the employee experience and the quality of care for clients.

Working at Aspire is extremely stressful. Aspire has a terrible work culture across the board.You have to meet productivity weekly. You have to see a certain amount of clients on your caseload weekly to "achieve" productivity. Management will continue to push this through your head at weekly meetings. The more clients you see-the more money has a chance at making or keeping. You are responsible for completing numerous administrative task(putting in notes, state reporting etc.), which will make it impossible to achieve your productivity. The administration staff is not connected with direct care staff. They come in your office building and are not personable  at all. The threats of write ups are strong without supports for change. Most employees do not know how to work or participate in partnerships or within a team.

My favorite part of Aspire was working with the clients. They are truly amazing! The toughest part was  dealing with management issues. The turnover rate is sky high. Someone leaves almost every month or people are talking about leaving- due to said issues. Do your research before applying..look through reviews and truly see if it will be a good fit. If you're in need of a job, I understand. But, by no means you hang your hat here.

I have been with Aspire Indiana Health since 2023 and every day I can't believe how blessed I am to be here!  I work with the Infectious Disease Program, now known as team HOPE, and after coming from toxic work places, I can't believe how much I love coming to work everyday.  It is true that leadership makes a world a difference in your job, and our program has the best management I have ever worked for.  Not only our program but other leadership in different programs, including our CEO, is very personable and they really do care for their employees.  They care about your personal wellbeing and will work with you to help you achieve your personal best.  I was looking for an organization where I could plant roots and grow... Aspire Indiana Health is exactly the organization to do that!  Without hesitation I would recommend friends and family to come work here :-)

I left Aspire on my own accord to accept a job that fit my skills and passions more closely. It was also a $15,000 pay increase. I loved the work I did at Aspire and the clients that I served, but I did not love the micromanagement. There is a great deal of personnel turnover at Aspire, and it's for good reason. The focus is on productivity percentages and revenue and not quality client care. I have been in Clinical staffing meetings where Clinical Managers and Supervisors were laughing about the conditions and circumstances of clients. It is a very unprofessional environment. Managers have been overheard talking negatively about and making fun of their employees, with their office doors open. There are many employees at Aspire who are passionate about the population they serve, but hate the work environment. If you are looking for a positive and fun work environment, I would not suggest Aspire.

As a CC/LSI, I spent most of my day out of the office. I gained experience with SPMI clients, with wonderful support from management. I would suggest this job for anyone just graduating with a degree in psychology. 

Hardest part of the job was the inconsistency - every day was different and I had to deal with crisis regularly. I would come home from work exhausted. 

The best days were when I was able to spend time in the office and communicate with management - they were always available, and regularly gave feedback and encouragement. I also enjoyed the bond that grew between me and clients - this experience is one that I have been greatly affected by!

A great place to work if you are a mission driven individual who wants to constantly learn and be challenged.  I was someone who was with the company for about 5-6 years and left.  After a year, I came right back to Aspire and have spent the last 10+ years here.  I like that I am encouraged to think outside of the box on a daily basis.  The most difficult part of the job is dealing with the pain of those we serve.  However, the most rewarding is seeing people pick up the pieces and move on to accomplish their goals. Their stories are amazing!  Aspire is very forward thinking and technologically savvy in comparison to other mental health centers.  The work is very fast paced.  The approach to integrated care has saved many lives who would have otherwise been lost in a traditional, fragmented healthcare system.  I am thankful every day to say that I work in an organization that does so much good!

You are promised a positive environment with continuous growth, and the supervisors seem great at first. However, you will get minimal training, and when expressing concerns, you will be ignored. Management will talk about you and share your concerns with not just other supervisors, but people and departments, even if you specify wanting anonymity. HR does not care about malpractice. Management will hinder your growth. There are no raises, and the benefits do not outweigh the lowball pay. No bonuses, no growth unless you transfer departments or become an overworked supervisor on salary pay. Some of the team members are great, but there is a constant competition between everyone and LOUD judgement. If they do not like you, they will degrade you until you quit. 

Initially working for this company was a dream come true. Quickly it became apparent that not only is the culture geared toward preferential treat upper management but training and preparation for the actual job is not important until employees begin to show stress with being poorly equipped to handle caseloads and ever-changing rules to agency requirements. Only work there if you have the ability to rise to the top and then poorly manage employees while offering zero support to them both professionally and personally. My advice? Aim higher. If you leave, expect to have difficulty finding employment elsewhere because references are negative and unhelpful.
