Assurance Health is a glorified graveyard where the patients are treated less than human. Management is what makes this place miserable. They have people in positions of management that have absolutely no business being a manager. They’re selfish and relentlessly aggressive towards nursing staff, they show favoritism, they’re rude when they confront you, they refuse to help on the floor when we’re short staffed and killing ourselves, even the director of nursing complains about her job and complains that she wants to quit. But honestly, if they had all new management at Assurance, Assurance could probably be redeemed and it might not be such an awful place to work at. There is so much drama working on the floor, management just gossips and is all about drama, always asking staff what’s going on and who said what, etc. Management would rather sit on their phone in the nursing station for HOURS or sit in their office and eat than help their nurses and aides when they’re struggling. If you don’t answer them, they get upset, but when you need something or need an answer, if they don’t wanna answer it, they blatantly ignore you. They ask EMTs and Unit clerks to do jobs they weren’t hired on to do, and it’s very frustrating.  There’s nurses working as aides, because they can’t keep aides. The place is always dirty and more often than not, when you walk in the building, it smells like urine. I would never put one of my family members in this hospital. They come to Assurance walking and eating, and they’ll leave being non-ambulatory with no quality of life left. If you want to work here, I’m warning you, don’t do it. The little bit of higher pay seems nice but I promise you it is nowhere near worth it. It’s a revolving door and most of the time, new employees realize how awful it is and they don’t come back. Leaving Assurance took so much weight off my shoulders.

Bare with me because this will be a long but highly educational review for potential employees and family members alike. To  potential employees, to say leaving this job lifted a weight off my shoulders and a feeling of relief was endured is an understatement. The turn over rate is grave, management does not come on the floor to help out until numerous on floor staff employees yell and complain about the subpar patient care due to lack of quantity of staff for the shift. Management is more about drama and gossip than anything else, but shout out to the ONE and only management staff member that is willing to come and help out on the floor. Physical injuries for staff are common and management tries to sweep it under the rug and manipulate the employees into not receiving the proper medical care necessary. As for FAMILY members wishing to send their loved one to this facility, please heed with HEAVY caution. The patient care is subpar quite often due to lack of staffing, your loved one will not be allowed fresh air or any outside sunlight except 2 small sky lights in this facility, which is non beneficial. They may be placed with other patients that scream and are potentially physically combative to other patients, thus resulting in tension and fear of your loved one during their time of care, potentially resulting in a decline for their own positive development and allowance to leave this facility. Lastly, the activites are rarely completed and there are no open discussion groups or therapy groups to assist with the improvement of a patients mental status.

Typical day will change drastically from day to day. I learned here to not take anyone for their word. They will paint a picture of great employee moral, pay advancements, low ratios and advancement opportunities. Constant turnover within the company as a whole. You hear more about what you are doing wrong then what your doing right. Enjoyed most of the staff I worked with and some great people but the upper management is just subpar. Corporate management is sketchy. There's always has an excuse to why something happened and no accountability. Always hear there are cash flow issues. You get different answers from different managers and rarely on the same page. My manager and human resources on several occasions forgot to correct my timecard therefore never paid. Had to make several attempts to contact the human resource guy. He is not helpful and dances around the truth. Pay was good. Benefits were not affordable. According to their employees when I started, these are ongoing issues that never get fixed and from my experience nothing has changed. Like you, I read these reviews first when i applied and thought "It can't be that bad and the pay is good." Boy was I wrong. This company needs stronger upper management support and accountability of its managers. The structure of this company is failing its employees!

This company gives you flexible hours and times to work and flexible with attendance, which helps with work and life balance, especially in PRN positions. They will be work you hard like full-time if you are PRN and even more as full-time if you do not set boundaries with them.
They offered bonus pay sometimes, but it is a lot to follow to receive the bonus.   It has low employee turnover and short staffed and la ack of help by some nursing staff, which leads you to be in unsafe situations there and put your license at risk.  It is a lot of micromanaging from other departments except—also, disrespect from nurses and other departments except EMTs towards the MTHs and STNAs. It is lots of gossip and a nurse vs. MTHs/ STNAs environment for problems and conflict resolutions. Conflict resolutions are not handled professionally because of favoritism and gossip by management positions.   The job has had unethical issues towards COVID 19 by not disclosing confirmed cases to employees. If you want real mental health experience and professionalism as well as personal safety, apply somewhere else.

The job itself isn’t a bad job, but the department manager is extremely rude and very confrontational toward staff. She has less communication skills than most 6th graders. She doesn’t lead by demonstrating a level of control with her attitude. Every minor mistake apart from breathing will be pointed out to you on a daily basis because there’s no such thing as a human error. On top of that your mistakes will be written out on a board for everyone who walks through the department to see because that is the managers approach and solution to staff communication .If you want to work somewhere where you are treated in a condescending manor and asked to change your schedule over and over because the department averages a new person about every 3/4 months then step right up. It is such a shame too because as I stated the job is a good job and decent pay but it’s not worth the price that you’re paying being treated like garbage. Also reporting her demeanor to upper management will fall on deaf ears as well as every HR and CEO has heard a complaint and sweep it under the rug.

Seven months is all I could handle. They boast a low client to nurse ratio, but that doesn't make up for paper charts. They claim 3 nurses on each shift that rarely happens. Management is the worse I have ever seen. In the short time I was there 2 times pay wasn't available on pay day, according to people who have been there a while this is a frequent problem. Their benefits rank among the worse, employees are getting outside insurance. Keys to the narcotics drawer are left laying around, and medpass is a joke there is no emar it's done on paper as well. They will tell you emar is coming in a few months,  they have been saying that for 2 years according to other employees. I have watched new employees work one day and not come back, most don't make it through the poor excuse of training period. No place is perfect but there are far better places with comparable pay and are better managed. Know what you are getting into before taking the job 

Management doesn't care about staff. Under paid and under appreciated. Meetings seem to be about everything everyone is not doing right or to nit pick hardley ever are employees talked to about the good they are doing or showing any appreciation to the staff. Overworked, Under paid, Constantly short staffed the turn over rate is ridiculous. Management don't care what their employees are going threw as long as they aren't on the floor having to deal with it and still get paid to to sit in the office and order people around they could care less about what the staff is going threw. Working 1 person to 20 patient ratio constantly because of staffing. That is not safe or feasible or legal for that matter. Also a lot of favoritism if your not in the click there your going to get treated rudely by certian supervisor's. 

The day is overwhelming with a lack of staffing for the acuity of their patient population. Most of the staff is quitting because of the managements lack of organization and disregard for their employees. They have very little training so for new nurses this position is not recommended. The patients definitely deserve better treatment than they get but the management team is worried about petty problems before they worry about the quality of care they are providing. Families should use caution before placing loved ones here. Their conditions are substandard, at best. If the management team would step up and take care of ensuring their staff did their jobs they wouldn’t be short staffed and they wouldn’t have such horrible reviews of their services. Do better!

Overall this is a great place to work. Reading all the reviews I cant help but wonder if maybe these pay problems were because a manager did not get their employees times entered into the system correctly before payday. I have only had one issue since being here 4 years and I have to tell you the Payroll person has done wonders on it. When I contacted her with my question she acted immediately and had it fixed and was very pleasant to talk to! They offer great pay, free meals. Cons would be holding there managers more responsible when communicating and hold them accountable for mistakes especially when employees submit corrections to their hours and they are not sent to corporate timely. I have had multiple co-workers have this issue. A couple more cons are high insurance, no paid vacations days, more qualified managers!!

I have been working at Assurance Health for a year and a half and have received three promotions. The owners have been extremely supportive and they compensate their employees well for hard work. Since this is a small company that is growing there is a lot of opportunities for advancement and education. I feel a sense of accomplishment doing my job because our patient population receives great care and we are able to help the communities in which we serve. I also love working with the staff at my facility they have a deep passion for patient care and there is a strong team culture. If you like helping people, are a hard worker, and have a desire to advance your career then apply for a job at Assurance.
