Don't expect to get ahead if you're female and are at a satellite location. Management can't hold it together, they blame non-clinical office staff for  patient charting mistakes or missing documentation. The work load was ridiculous. Director had no certifications but was in charge of people who DO. Turnover was insane and you can bet if your manager has a friend that wants a job, you know someone is going to lose theirs to make room. Managers are MIA most of the week, forgetting meetings, not following through. You won't get the help or tools to do your job, but you'll get yelled at because its not done fast enough. Dont you dare ask for "help" because you won't get it. The employee engagement is a joke.. Managers WILL NOT share any results. 
The recent re-organizing of "titles" put people in charge who should not be..and took the good supervisors and reduced them to "associates". Doesn't matter how long you've been at a site.. 
Managers will always promote their friends before those who deserved it. 
Some employees who have "friends" in management have behaved and  done things that are both clinically and professionally beyond unethical and haven't even been WRITTEN UP. 
They will hit you with write ups for something that everyone is doing, but not everyone gets in trouble. 
Only select people. For example, you'll get written up at for being a few minutes late back from lunch ONE TIME, while others are gone for 2 hours all the time.. and nothing is EVER said. 
Some people come in late, leave early consistently, will talk to their neighbors all day.. and nothing is ever said to THEM. Its so unfair.. I'm so glad to be away from this joke of a place. 
Also, if you're offsite, you won't see picnics or any opportunity that those in the hospitals get.. So be wary of that.

All depends on what department your work in. I started in transport and EVS and moved up to phlebotomist making more but still not enough. Then they increased the pay of transport and EVS without increasing pay for phlebotomist, CNA or similar positions making them completely not worth doing at all. A lot of the positions do not have room for advancement but depending on what your job is and position you don't really need any more room to advance. Just do research about the position you want and the pay. The managers play favorites and its obvious when they do. They give people they like more pay and hours with a easier position for the day. Phlebotomy has no advancements opportunity's. I learned every single thing in that job from out patient to covid testing, epic system and therapeutic phlebotomy and would work all shifts to make up for the lack of available people when covid hit (people getting sick or not wanting to work) but no change in title or pay. If you want to work here I suggest working per diem if you can until you get your desired position so you can at least have your foot in the door because it can take months to get hired or to even transfer within the company even if you and the managers are in agreement to be hired it still takes a long time. It wasn't all bad at first. the pay raises were nice at first, transferring wasn't too long and the benefits are still good but the advancement opportunity wasn't there and since covid they don't seem to care for the employee and will do as much as they can to have you quit, pay you less or fire you. I am still apart of the group chat for work and close to half of the people I worked with have either quit or been fired. Its a good place for experience and careers with associates or bachelors but for certificates and lower its gone down hill.

I thought I had applied to work in the cafe at one of there many locations. And b4 I started I asked what my role was going to be there and no one gave me a straight answer. I was told by the manager when I asked him. He told me he gave my the job roles in the interview but he gave me a overall of all the positions. I’m sure it wasn’t what we discussed as far as me directly. 
 Then once I started I was being trained for a position so on the third day I told the supervisor that I think it was a mix up on the position I applied for. Then he responded everyone do all roles here so you train in each one cause it’s a rotation system. Ok I was fine with that now it’s three weeks later and I don’t see no change in my position and I only trained one day in two other position and I’m out of training. 
Now, I noticed there isn’t any rotation system it’s a lot of people that don’t leave the kitchen at all. Then to make my self even more confused I was told by the supervisor that the cafe and kitchen is two different departments. But I’m sure I was told by the manager I would have to work the register at some point. 
Another employee there over heard me talking to the supervisor and told me. Not to say anything about the job they will write you up and force you to work certain areas. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. all I kept thinking was is this really happening? Then he mentioned they write you up and your unaware of the write. I can’t believe this company is like this. I gave up my job waited a month to get into this one. Was so excited to work for Atlantic Health and never been so unhappy in my life.

A typical day at work is busy, a multitude of daily new projects and a ton of daily attitude.  
AHS is an absolutely fabulous place to work, learn and grow! In the years I've been employed with AHS, I've seen many people get promoted but are they the correct people? Going out on a limb here to say that 45% of the people promoted are not for the right reason. Yes, anyone can continue learning and grow and adapt to their position  but where does that leave the actual person who gives 100%, take on projects, contributes to new initiatives to better the development of the department but are overlooked because they "do not qualify "?
If you're a strong minded individual, you will make your presence know, take all the available classes AHS has to offer and not let management label you so you can thrive and grow at a different department. AHS does allow you to make yourself marketable as long as management doesn't stop you from seeking that growth. 
However, AHS still remains one of the best company to be employed! Although WFH has diminished the best part of the culture which is having that interaction with your teammates the work still gets done, the error rate has gone down. 
The best part of this company is everything they have to offer for growth, medical, extracurricular events are the best. I still enjoy going into work, dealing with all my colleagues throughout the system, and learning all new systems. 
My only asking is when management is being chosen, be a little more selective! 

PCT’s are looked at and treated like garbage. I once heard a nurse tell a patient “don’t listen to the techs, they don’t have anything other than a high school education”. This is far from true as many techs have degrees in other areas, and/or are currently in school. Sadly, you are judged by the color scrubs you wear rather than by your actual knowledge and passion for patient care. There is no team work between nurses and techs. Most nurses will sit and chart all 12 hrs, only getting up to pass out meds. Management will always favor nurses over techs, so your opinion doesn’t matter, and things won’t change. 
The TURNOVER rate for PCTs is unbelievably high. Techs are constantly leaving as they are treated terrible. In fact, EVERY SINGLE tech on my floor is currently looking for jobs elsewhere. 

If there was anything I could tell my past self about this job it would be: save your self worth, your dignity, and your happiness and find something BETTER. 

I love patient care, but Atlantic Health (Chilton) has changed my idea about nursing. The people you work with are miserable... and it’s a constant challenge to make sure their negativity doesn’t rub off on you as well.

I started at Atlantic Health as a file clerk for a primary care office. I would scan documents, send receive faxes and organize patient charts for the doctors. Over time they eventually moved me to the front desk where I check patients in and out, take phone messages, make appointments etc. As a per diem, I have moved around different offices in various specialties but always remain at the front desk. The biggest thing I have learned is the importance of maintaining professional composure. I have had to deal with many irritable patients and calmly explain to them the situation that was going on at the time that they were unhappy with. I would say this is the hardest part of the job. Conversely, the most enjoyable part (besides free lunch from drug reps) is interacting daily with patients that are very friendly. I often engage patients in lighthearted small talk and have had some very pleasant experiences in doing so. Management has always been top notch. All of the coworkers, coordinators and managers I have worked under have been very friendly, helpful, and accessible.

I started working at Atlantic Health shortly after graduation. This is a truly good place to start your career in the healthcare. The company provides plenty of training and support, the culture is overall positive, the management tries to control everything but mostly stays out of your way. 
A few things I don’t like: 
1. Location. All of AHS sites are located in the very expensive and unaffordable areas of North Jersey, so if you are a young professional who is trying to get the career going and start the family, then good luck. Unless you are comfortable with a very long, expensive, and miserable commute, this company is not for you. 
2. The salary  could be better. Despite the location, the salaries at AHS are at or slightly below National average. There are plenty of jobs out there that pay more, or at least located in more affordable parts of the state. 
3. AHS is very reluctant about implementing remote/ hybrid work from home. Nowadays, many people are able to work from home, but AHS requires everyone be in the office 5 days a week. 
I speak just for myself, but as of now, I don’t see myself working here past three years anniversary. 

It was bad under staffed no one to train you.  Good is accrue pto very quickly. Excellent benefits. Lots of ppe. New management for my team was running the staff into the ground. No work life balance. Do not work at hospice . You would be charting till past midnight every night and hours of charting. Isn’t feasible to do point of service charting or appropriate in many situations like during the pandemic families wanted you there for minimal amounts of time or if the patient was actively dying.  Training was non existent for hospice. They didn’t have staff available severe staffing shortage. And no hospice educator. And the nurses were burnt out and didn’t want to precept. Or didn’t know much themselves because they were not trained properly. It’s so sad because I know other people who worked in patient and were very happy. They have a lot of resources but are not training people correctly. The culture is cut throat and plain mean. The managers lack empathy for staff and have unrealistic expectations. That are impossible to be met. 

My job should have strictly been working with the patients. Due to COVID, and incredibly short staffing (for good reason) I was mostly checking visitors in for a large part of my day. This entailed dealing with abuse from visitors, toxic gossipy coworkers, as well as micromanagement from the higher ups to top it off. When I was able to work with patients, I was met with hostility from the clinical staff members (they have been overworked & stressed out understandably) and most often resistance. Management was no help, and my concerns were often dismissed. Most of my work day I experienced high levels of stress and anxiety due to no support from any aspect of the job.

The hardest part of the job was dealing with abuse from visitors, hostility from staff, toxic management, and a poor workplace culture.

The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to engage with the patients and make their day :)

I have been an RN at Morristown for over 4 years. I have worked at several different hospitals in several different parts of the country. This hospital treats its nurses the worst. There is no respect for nurses ideas. There are no breaks or lunches assigned. Many nurses work over 12 hours straight without anything to eat. And then there is an argument if you ask to get paid for your lunch hour(1/2 hour). People must take call without getting paid for it and when they get called in(almost always) they get straight time. This non profit is making big profits but it all goes to the CEO and the managers who keep nursing salaries low. I have no idea how they get ranked in 100 best places to work. They must pay a fee and only survey management. Every year they survey employees and it falls on deaf ears. Complaints about our manager are useless as long as she keeps the bottom line of cost down and cashes her big bonus check every year for doing it.
