What is the best part of working at the company?
Easy day, mostly button pushing and everyone sits on their phones while theyre machines are running

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Barely any training, other machinists are expected to show you what to do instead of having the upper level machinists train anyone

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stale work environment, hired me through a recruiting agency and then laid me off because they “lost a contract” one month into the 3 month temp period 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Sitting around on your butt finding things to do for the most part, changing out parts and pressing start program on the machine, management does not train new guys on setups whatsoever, so if theres a setup on a machine you’re expected to take over someone elses machine while someone who is experienced on setups works your machine

I've been at Autocam Medical for almost 2 years and I have to say; with a lot of other jobs, I know most people (including myself) would have a lengthy list of complaints about their employer. Not here.

- There is always work to be done but I have felt no pressure to work OT whereas most companies I've worked for it is forced or you are penalized for missing it. 
- Great, knowledgable people and managers who encourage questions, it never feels like anyone is judging you for not knowing something.
- The pay could be slightly better for some positions but the benefits are so good (in general) that I can be patient. I think it is worth mentioning for those who prioritize pay.
- Learning new areas and wanting to advance yourself is encouraged and there are several incentives to do so.
- The good culture of hard work but plenty of fun while doing so is achieved quite well here in my experience.

If you want hours, they have plenty of them, which basically guarantees overtime. The normal work schedule is a 6 to 4, so basically 50 hours/week. As much as the company culture is great and management is quite human, it appears that the company's growth does not match its resources, which is compensated by more labor. This is not an issue for me as I need more hours, but if you're looking for a healthy work/life balance, you might burnout. For interns, expect a constant salary of $16/hr, no matter what your position is, or how good your resume is in terms of qualification, education and experience. Raises are $1 per internship rotation. Regarding learning and growth, you will learn a lot during your first 2 months of your rotation, which is great for an internship. But after those two months, the learning curve shifts to a plateau, making you get in a routine. 

In the packaging department they lack organization of any sort. From not having anything to look up how to package all the various surgical parts we encountered on a daily basis, to having to scramble around just to find the packaging material.. I had been to a few of the “team meetings” and suggested that they need something in place for ALL the different parts we packaged that would tell us what we would need to package it. They denied it and said that would realistically never happen. I then suggested that they should have the client (in the comment section where they order their parts)  should have to (at bare minimum) write what they want us to use. They said it would be an inconvenience to the client to actually tell us how they want their stuff packed…
 but the only real inconvenience is not knowing how you are supposed to package anything! 

As a manager I have had a wonderful experience working for Autocam Medical. Great pay, benefits, and a flexible schedule are at the top of the list. I am not micromanaged by my boss; he trusts me to get my job done; another plus.

From the perspective of the direct labor employees people are very happy with their job and pay. There are no surprises when walking through the door. You know the minimum amount of hours and the general job that you will expected to perform; it floors me when people are surprised once they get started. 

There is a great team environment and the company involves the employees with many activities IE: company picnic, United Way, food drives, luncheons etc.

Over all if you are a good worker, have good attendance, and a great attitude, you would do great here!

If you are looking for a job where you do pretty much the same thing every day this place is for you. It's hard nearly impossible to grow your career here. Honestly if you just want to work and don't care about growing your career this place isn't horrible.The corporate in Michigan is religious and use the excuse to not provide reproductive health services. The health insurance is just okay. The dental is good. The match 401K up to a certain percentage. The offshift gets 15% differential. But they will low-ball you an hourly wage then say but you get 15%. The percent is for the inconvenience of working night shift. Not to bring you up to where you deserve to be hourly. Raises also aren't that good. You get 3% if your lucky. They also say profit sharing Bonuses. But that's up to managements mood.

I am a fairly new hire, about 6 months with Autocam.  I came into the job with little experience and all I can say is everybody has been supportive and more than willing to show me the ropes.  

The work environment is pleasant, management will go out of their way to help employees with any need they may have. 

 I have gone from training side by side with a supervisor to running my own machine in short time.  The independence Autocam promotes is a refreshing change of pace from most other jobs I have worked.

There is a TON to learn, possibly an endless amount of information and techniques to take in.  It can feel a bit daunting at times, but I welcome the challenge and look forward to growing with the company.

 Autocam was a good place to work very flexible hours and for the most part I felt valued as an employee from my peers and leadership in the engineering department. I was always able to keep busy with new projects and hardly felt overwhelmed. There was support for me If I did raise a flag. I was paid well and culture was overall pleasant. GM was engaged and I did feel if I had any issues I could talk to him and he would make time for anyone. Except a few bad eggs but you find those people in every job. Only negative I can say I wanted to learn more but felt I was pigeon holed into my role and wouldn't be able to get out of of it at times. 

Overall a very good company to work for. Company supplies needed tools and resources to make job efficient. For 24 years the work environment has been stable and enjoyable, not without challenges, but still enjoyable. Employees are encouraged to contribute in a team atmosphere and all ideas/suggestions are considered.
Very little employee turn over indicates a very positive culture.

Autocam is a great company to work for.  The culture is positive, and employees are made to feel valued and respected. There is a strong focus on continuous improvement and every employee's input is appreciated and taken into consideration.  There is great teamwork and collaboration.  The business grows year after year, and senior management and owners continuously invest back in to the company, with new machines coming in regularly.  The pay is competitive, with good benefits, including medical insurance offered at no cost to the employee.  There are often company outings, onsite cookouts, and other events that make working at Autocam great.
