I can't think of anything positive to say about my time at Automation Anywhere.  Being one of the 10+% who were laid off, I am very bitter how they laid people off.  They laid people off via email.  Cold and uncaring. The also already had replacements waiting in the wing for those laid off. 

Things they did wrong.

CFO illegally reduced employees performance rates, so that, they would have to pay out less than owed.  My manager directly told me this is how they were committing fraud to keep the lights on.  Reducing my KPI percentage from 100% to 90%, costing me thousands in earned bonuses.  Is it legal to cook the books and steal rightful bonuses from people? I was told directly by my manager to not be mad, as the remainder of my bonus would be coming the next pay out.  It never came and of course they laid me off.

The C-level new hires are toxic.  New CMO created such a toxic environment since the first day they arrive, that is carried over to many other areas of the company.  Intentionally causing departments to fragment under the strain of new ideas that net nothing in return. The culture of caring and family hood evaporated quickly.

Working conditions, even while working Remote were completely changed after his hire and him hiring his friends in high ranking levels.  Work/Life balance was destroyed before the lay offs.  We had people working 70+ hours a week to help the company, only for them all to be laid off.  

CMO nepotism basically helped ensure he could hire his own friends and their companies while he double dipped in former companies he owned to get paid more than his salary.  Nepotism and theft.

If you want your wages and bonuses stolen...this is the place to work.

Don't feel bad, they will just email you when they are done with you.
They did keep some very lazy people in positions.  

The people they cut were the hard workers.  The people they kept have failed upward.

The product is unstable, lacks a comprehensive cloud migration strategy, and poor executive team that's more focused on marketing and buzz word gimmicks than product investment. If you are in the mgmt inner circle or related to the founders you will have a great time even if you continue to perform poor, you'll get get moved around from one lead role to another. Otherwise you will either be over worked, and under paid in terms of salary and benefits compared to competition, and routinely get excuses why your bonus was cancelled. Leadership will tout meeting quarterly ren targets but it'll never meet the threshold to fill the bonus pot for employees. Out of the 6 different companies through out my career I wouldn't have to think twice about which one is the worst experience and poor career move. AA will win that round everytime hands down. As a bonus the c team will keep dangling the ipo carrot just so the remaining people won't jump ship but at their rev rate and unhappy clients not renewing licenses I wouldn't count on the company going IPO anytime soon.

Automation Anywhere is run like a complete dictatorship. You are treated like a factory employee. You have no voice and when you do speak up, you are in danger of losing your job. The only employees that last over 6 months are the ones that aren't driven enough to care or the ones that are stuck there because of a work visa (Automation Anywhere strategically hires those types of employees so that they don't leave). Leadership has a major ego and acts as if they are Elon Musk. Always needs to be right, even when he is wrong (which is most of the time).

At your interview, you will be promised the world, crazy growth, massive options value and complete freedom to succeed. You will soon find out this is not true at all.

AA will make you find yourself questioning your own abilities and you will leave here feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted. I hate working at Automation Anywhere.

Company is now 20 years old yet continues to pretend it is a "start-up".  From desiring to maintain a family style culture to managing by fear and favor, the company is a great example of the worst aspects of consulting culture.  AA wanted to be ServiceNow, and since getting outside funding from connected entities it keeps juking and jiving the markets and its customers about its bots (read 'macros') no matter how difficult they are to build, launch, test, deploy, and manage.  Like a consulting house, AA is great at selling the rosy PPT but harder to deliver the goods in secure systems that reduce costs.  The senior leaders are extracting every dollar they can from the rotten body of the company, and the smart ones left before their stock was diluted.  The rest remain stranded by equal parts greed and their own skills-irrelevance.

Their logo should be a nuclear hazard, bioterror klaxon.

TL;DR: Don't

Leading the business development team and including strategic consulting and needs assessment, identifying and driving new business opportunities, customizing products,  pricing and contract negotiations and working with internal experts to propose solutions to prospective clients. Responsible for all applications/project development, sales, services and revenue goals for an assigned customer segment by developing, building and strengthening long–term relationships with customer and vendors.

The executive team has no experience running a growth company or an enterprise, and all decisions are made within a small group of family and friends circle of management team. If you have any disagreement with that circle, you will be in trouble. They fear the competition and were constantly terrified about every competitors' move. While they laid off 40% of their people during the pandemic and many others left on their own due to low morale, the competition has quadrupled the valuation and raised $750M last year. The CMO is obsessed with competition and look at them every day to figure out what to do and the thing excited him the most was social media hype. Lots of smoking mirrors.

the technology was fun and interesting

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
insanely sophomoric personalities (there were a lot of people there younger than me)

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
culture was very disturbing.  There was an underlying sub-culture that was very 'catty'

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
sharpening skills - working with customers - learning

I had the fortunate experience to be placed on a project which was poorly scoped out. It was first a RDA, then a RPA, then systems we were going to have access to became problems during development. The original process to be automated was not fully investigated. I had to be the RPA dev and at some point the solution architect. I tried to raise concerns early on in the process, to mitigate damage. Didn't  matter. Mgmt was more concerned with the appearance  of work than actual work.

Horrible dictator like environment, extreme turnover, poor executive leadership. They hire and fire people at will, some people just stop coming in to the office, there is no direction and leadership at all. Awful culture, terrible office, lousy management, no career growth. Alot people walk out in first few week this place is so bad! Don't walk but run away from Automation anywhere

The company is like a 12 year old gangly teenager.  Growing a lot, with lots of ups and downs.  Unclear if they will make the leap to really valuing people as a way to achieve results vs. chasing $'s only.   Often have meetings on weekends, call mandatory meetings with global teams on holidays and with no agenda.  People are really nice, smart, and hard workers.  Most enjoyable part is the people we work with.
