Avalon does a fantastic job of helping you feel engaged and being transparent with us about the direction of the company.  They're constantly seeking ways to do things better and open to constructive feedback from employees.

I value that I have regular meetings with my manager to talk about growth and what we can do better.  Everyone I've encountered is welcoming and enthusiastic about delivering for team members and clients.

My one criticism at this point would be that innovations in process and big changes can be slower to take flight than you might hope for.  This is because changes need to comply with established policies and/or vetted through proper security measures.  This can take some time if roles change or competing priorities take precedent.  At times it can feel like some policies or preventative measures are too inhibiting or add too much extra time but it's admirable that we want to grow in a proper fashion.

Great company, very creative, intelligent leaders

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Manager who worried about what other senior leaders thought of her.  We were asked why they didn’t listen to her. It was stressful to report to someone with such low self confidence 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good overall, but inconsistent policies regarding who could work remotely and who could not. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Predictable, slow paced. Not much drama with day to day work

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
growing pains overall - rapid growth often leaves empty pieces along the way that must be addressed, processes, work flows, team dependencies need work.  A bunch of smart, nice people for sure!

Right from the start I became very aware that Avalon was a leader across the country for their lab benefit programs.   The employees are dedicated to the clients and their members for cost savings and reducing unnecessary lab costs.  The forward thinking of the technology and the programs offered to health plans will continue to keep Avalon a leader in this industry.   

I have had a very positive experience at Avalon. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming, supportive, and willing to answer questions. I have learned a lot in a short amount of time and have been given opportunities to contribute while continuing to develop professionally. The people and company culture have been the best part of the experience so far. 

As in any growth company, the focus is on customer acquisition and product development. This creates a fast paced and exciting environment and innovative culture.  Avalon values its staff and invests in them.  We don't have all the perks of a larger company, but I would not trade that for a dull static company.  

Incredibly intelligent and focused group of employees.  Learn something new each day.  Fun environment while building a new industry in the healthcare services space. Good leadership team who is transparent in their communication.

On this job, I learned the importance of the pre-authorizations and utilization review functions. These functions play a major role in giving cancer and birth defect prone children and chance for cure and better quality of life!

Great company with exceptional leadership of upper management. Very poor management skills of lower management. More training needed for head of department.

There was no typical day for me. I support 7 people, plus the entire office. I could be in the middle of travel planning when a sink erupts. Fast paced, sometimes too much for one person. Some people require more hand holding than others.
