The organization as a whole is great. My co-workers and supervisor are amazing. I feel fulfilled in the work. The pay however is embarrassingly below standard, even though we (employees) have been told that it is up to par after market research. The work week is good, M-F 7.5 hours per day, however there is little to no overtime available or even allowed.  The organization can't retain employees due to such terrible pay, so in certain departments there are high turnarounds. However in management and above there isn't the same turnover at all,  which leads employees to believe that they are getting under compensated while the higher-ups are being paid well. Again, the organization is great and the atmosphere is great, but the pay is terrible. If you are trying to get experience in the field or have another source of income to supplement this one, then I highly recommend BHCare. 

I'm gonna start with that I liked my job, i found it rewarding and i appreciated the autonomy i was given. The pay and benefits were fair for what was expected of me, nothing stellar, but fair.

Now for the harsh truth. The people who work here are terrified of management. The management is catty and political. From the day I started, I had a target on my back, and as soon as there was a reason to fire me, they did so without hesitation, no write ups, no disciplinary action. BOOM. fired. done deal.

If you want to work here, you need to look out. If they don't like you, they won't support you and will continuously set you up for failure until you get pushed out or they push you out.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The benefits were decent, particularly the health insurance policy.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The work culture and micromanagement caused me significant anxiety. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I did not feel comfortable with the culture and I was dealing with chronic health issues (which were not diagnosed yet and they clearly did not believe me about), so I was micromanaged and met with punitive action instead of genuine support throughout my entire time at the organization (which caused me significant anxiety).

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It was a “fast paced” high stress work environment at an already high stress job.

I started working for BHcare as a part-time employee while in college. I worked in the domestic violence shelters as an advocate. This involved a lot of case management and hotline management. I learned so much in this role about the dynamics of DV, and how to handle client cases. My supervisor was extremely supportive, and often offered extra hours every month. There were many opportunities for different trainings, and career advancement. Ultimately, I left this position because I decided to pursue a different career path. Overall, it was a very rewarding experience.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The whole company is a team! Great pay! Awesome leadership. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Most stressful is waking up to get there. :-)

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Dignity! respect!  They treat everyone the same and go above and beyond for staff as well as the clients we serve. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Exciting! Super busy, which makes your time pass faster. I truly love helping people and The company support make it for me excessed my expectations .

BHcare at first seems like a nice agency out in the "valley". But in reality its an agency ran by middle-aged housewives who have nothing else better to do than meddle into everything and complicate simplistic things, like the time-clock system. 

There are no men, people of color, or person's with disabilities working in the corporate office. 

Run from this place. The same way you probably wouldn't want to work in a ghetto, dirty, sleazy environment, is the same here - who wants to work in a cult?

Typical Work Day:
Completing office/clerical tasks outside of appointments (phone calls, emails, record keeping, electronic health documentation). Meeting with clients to address their resource needs (Income, Housing, Food Supports).

Favorite Part of the Job:
Manager’s support and being able to support them in return. Flexible shift.

Most Challenging Part:
Meeting DMHAS’s service hour requirement (22 hours per week). I had been able to meet 10-12 hours, however the nature of the job can only be half controlled by the staff (clients no-showing or canceling frequently).

That's how I felt here. I felt anonymous. No one really knew who I was. You would go to holiday parties and no one knew one another. No one knew how long I worked there. Everyone worked in their own little bubble/department. As long as the clients were happy, that was what mattered. The employee appreciation committee would have days where they would deliver treats to the offices but only to certain ones. Was really disheartening.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Caring group of people who allowed my expertise to drive some needed changes to their drug and alcohol program. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No stress we did acupuncture! Company paid for 2 clinicians to be certified in auricular acupuncture and would use it on staff during meetings.

Culture of competence and support for all.

Meeting and getting to know the clients

Working for people who don't appreciate you

It's very diverse. Most of the co workers are fantastic

Greeting the clients that live around there.  Then getting to work and organizing your day.
