Balanced Wellbeing speaks of a holistic foundation to their company - and at one time that may have been true; the company has grown exponentially over the past few years, and while it is understood that with growth comes change, it should not necessarily mean that with that those changes should not be detrimental for the company’s people. Changes to policy seem to happen quite often, without appropriate notice to all staff, and more often than not without clear explanation. 
It can be said from personal experience (and I do not include upper management), the people you will likely work more closely with in a daily basis (be that in one of the outpatient clinic/administrative office locations) will be supportive, kind, and generally a wonderful team of people. The Practice Manager is an incredibly kind person who truly cares about each and every person they oversee and interact with. They are willing to take the time to answer questions and give additional guidance and training when needed or asked. 

Unfortunately, growth once in the company is very difficult, as it seems hiring from outside is valued more than trying to promote from within before initiating outside hiring. A few, mainly one or two members of the upper management/leadership do not appear to truly value current members of staff and do not foster growth and development - investing more in the growth and development of current employees will encourage and incentivize them to stay with the company, and make happier employees overall. Lastly, regarding upper management/leadership: the way people are treated, spoken of or spoken to does not go unnoticed, people in high director level roles within a mental health practice should know better than to act so poorly - a company such as Balanced Wellbeing should foster ALL of its staff to treat each other with as much kindness, understanding, and respect as possible. One can not demand such treatment if they are not willing to reciprocate. 

While working for Balanced Wellbeing, I have learned a great deal about the world of elder care, I have gained more in-depth and detailed knowledge of the mental health field, and I have certainly learned that adaptability is vital. 

The toughest part of my job used to be learning that patients I had grown to care for quite dearly had passed away, now it’s more ensuring I have the appropriate time to finish projects in a timely manner, and feel comfortable enough with setting boundaries regarding a truly realistic workload for what I am currently being compensated for. 

Job is flexible and you can leave after seeing the required patients for the day. It is extremely hard to advance in the company and the culture of the company is see as many patients as possible despite how burned out you feel. You only get 10 days of PTO and that does not increase until you work five years and then it goes up to 15 days. Sick time and PTO time are the same thing, which becomes frustrating as PTO is accrued throughout the year. You only get 6 holidays per year. The company has become more micromanaged and unfortunately does not give pay raises. If you want to make the money that you think you should be making you must see a lot more patients during the day for you to get a bonus. However, getting 100% of your bonus can be very tricky and misunderstanding. They look for any way to not give you all of your bonus, which is frustrating because you work hard to see all these extra patients for your bonus. You also will be assigned 2 to 3 buildings to go to throughout the week, but don’t expect them to be close to your house as they say it would be.

This is a good company when first starting out. You will be responsible for going to nursing homes and assisted living facilities for medication management. You will be expected to see between 20-30 patients a day, 30 is maximum. If you want to make a bonus you will have to see 25-30 patients a day.  Your bonuses will have deductions if your notes are late, you get negative reviews from the facilities, you don’t complete the monthly medication management meetings and if your percentage for psychiatric medications does not go down- these are just a few to name. Lastly, if you request a pay increase your daily productivity goes up so it’s no need to ask for one. Your on call 24hrs a day and no you don’t get compensated. Your facility your responsibility. If you like to take day off you are responsible for finding your own coverage. If you decide to get an assistant, a percentage of your salary pays for their salary. 

This company began with purpose but has since switched gears to be a competition to become bigger than others. It is purely money driven. 
The hired office staff have very little experience in management and they are learning as they go, creating a very unprofessional environment. Every policy changes on a weekly basis and it creates excessive stress.
There is no potential growth, nurse practitioners will remain in the same role for the rest of their lives making it a revolving employment with a ceiling. 
The nurse practitioners who perceive the pay as “great”, do not understand the concept of dollar to hour ratio because with all of the hours you work-it depletes your hourly pay here. 

You are expected to answer the outlandish needs of staff at facilities which is daunting. Your job is a salesman rather than a provider. 
The depreciation on your vehicle far exceeds the pay in my opinion. 

Toxic work environment, your opinion does not matter, you are given tons of work with no support, and very disorganized and poorly managed practice, very money driven with the guise of caring about patients, patients are considered points, and the more points you have daily (the more patients) you see the more they like you, your paperwork can be poor, but that wont matter as long as you’re seeing 30 or more points a day.  Med assistants are not held accountable. You are required to Train, interview and hire them, though there is a whole doctor and practice manager and so called hr team in place to do that. They pile more and more responsibilities on you, but you are not compensated, and the work interferes with your personal life. 

There was no consistency in this job. No place for advancement, no order, no help, no thorough training and management was horrible. Nothing was done precisely, nothing was done with constructiveness or professionally. Everything was made up along the way. Everything was changed constantly; when things were told to be done they were told to be undone because it's being changed, yet again. They were making policies up as they went, they made up rules as they went, and when given extra help or training they sent people in from formal positions to help or train.  This could very well be a great place to work yet management has no professionalism, no work ethics, and fails to listen, and if questions are asked or one speaks up for themselves, they are being disrespectful and rude. 

Very impressed with the professionalism of this practice.  Providers are expected to interact with Primary Care Providers, Facility Nursing Staff, and Resident Families rather than making snap judgements based on short visits with patients.   This is not the place for you if you’re a lone wolf, rather than a team player that understands that the best patient care is a multidisciplinary effort.   The practice is efficiently run, and the practice manager is available and accessible. The practice has an excellent reputation in the community and is respected by industry professionals making day to day interactions easy and pleasant. 

A typical workday here flies by as there is plenty to do. In my time here, I have learned about how to lead and work with colleagues to attain the unattainable. The management structure here is fair and supportive, fostering a workplace culture that makes me feel valued and appreciated. The hardest part of my job is when team members do not meet expectations and are not accountable for their performance; they lash out and post negative reviews.  The most enjoyable part of my job is retaining team members and seeing the value and pride they take in representing this company. We are still growing as a company and are stronger than ever. 

While I find that Balanced Well Being is overrall a decent company to work for and the job I did was easy. I did enjoy it very much. However, there are cliques and a lot of family works there together. People run to HR for everything and the PTO sucks. The only other thing I didn’t like was the opportunity for a bonus based on our providers productivity. When assistants leave and there are less assistants available, the other assistants have to pick up the slack. Sometimes you’re assisting 30-35 providers who all need documents and consent. So you might be productive by handling all of it but, if you’re providers aren’t see 30 patients a day, then you don’t get anything.

Everyone is against each other, and you are not allowed to talk 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic and god forbid u say anything, there are a few co workers who will run to HR to complain even when you didn’t even say anything wrong. And you are automatically accused 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Sitting in the dark being a virtual scheduler for providers. And they just pile on more and more work.
