Management consists of Sodexo contractors. Techs are Baptist employees. This often creates a conflict of interest as integrity wavers on subjectivity. 
Cultural diversity is abundant. Frequent communication barriers are often dismissed without actual resolution due to daily time constraints and frustration. 
It's concerning that tribalism + likability play a significant role in career advancement, leading to biased promotions. 

The department is messy and accountability is deferred, resulting in poor productivity. Thorough consistency is neglected until it must be scrutinized because it jeopardizes someone's health. Relevant training is not as dynamic as it should be, considering the severity of contagions one may be subjected to, along with inconsistent mixtures of the prepped chemicals. Shared equipment ends up fostering malfunction and causes perpetual chaos. With inadequate leadership, it's an absolute circus. 

Essentially, HR is there to minimize risk to the business above all else, even if it means prioritizing Baptist's position over an individual employee's concerns, especially in situations where fault might lie with Baptist itself; Never forget that.

Previous benefits with Blue Cross were excellent. Since switching to UMR, the quality has spiraled.

Manager culture is all the same here. They have NO ability to work as a team. Delegate, delegate, delegate. They take long lunches, breakfasts and are absolutely NO help to you if you are short handed. From the outside Baptist seems like an awesome place to work, as soon as you start, it doesn’t take long to figure out they have the entire Miami-Dade county fooled. The pay is below average and they promise you things like pay raises and don’t follow up on those promises. Been here almost 2 years, and I swear not one person has said they love working here, not even joking. Unprofessional managers talk to their employees about other employees like calling them lazy etc. Favoritisms are loud and clear. If you aren’t a favorite, you’re treated like a slave. Manager will pull something off the shelf, take it to their office and when done will bring it to our desk to put it back away instead of walking 5 steps to put it back away themselves. Just laziness!! Constantly are over your back every day and not allowing you to do your job. Took the job because I needed it and have been trying to get out for some time with no luck because of the economy. Would never recommend this place to work to anyone and just know as soon as I leave, HR will know why with full detail on how my manger treated myself and a few other employees in the Dept not favored and their lack of professionalism! Count on it! 

Baptist Health is one of the largest healthcare employers in northeast Florida. They know that, so assume this is a business. When I first started it wasn't so corporate and there was more of an "Us" attitude, now the dictate is solely money - making it, keeping it, and paying as little as possible to employees. The experience depends on your MOS/job title and what you do, and who you do that with. If you're lucky, you get a respectful supervisor and you can grow into your experience. If you are unlucky like me you end up with Mrs. Hitler who harasses you weekly to frustration and then has you walked out the door after 12 years because you stand up for yourself. Top layer of healthcare in Jacksonville is Mayo - everyone is jealous of them; then there is University of Florida Health (affiliated with U. of Florida), then Memorial Hospital. There is a little jewel of a hospital a bit south of Jacksonville that has a stellar reputation, and good feedback by employees - Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Florida. Baptist is merely average, low pay, skimpy benefits.

After working for Baptist Health for a number of years, I watched them juggle a number of projects and personnel in a very unorganized manor. 

The additions of new outside management caused a huge disruption in both process and performance. The current senior management team appears to be a version of a "good-'ol-boys" group, and not that of a professional organization striving for perfection. 

Work life balance is poor at best with a bad vacation/holiday schedule based on hospital hourly employee s practices instead of the more normal and standard holiday schedules. 

Employment job security is a joke, and if you are not looking for a change, you may find one without your decision. The facilities are old, and not very nice, and the benefits are average if that. As an employee, I could not get reasonable care when needed until I reached out to a physician I was supporting to ask his attention.

Personally after having worked at this organization, I cannot recommend it to anyone looking to further their professional IT career.

I worked at Baptist Health for 12 years. Overall, it is a very good company to work for. Some if my time there was really great. Management tries to connect with employees but there is a definite division between the two roles. 
The company strives to continue to get better in all areas. It is a magnet hospital, which adds many positives to the culture. 
Change in leadership can be felt and can be for good or bad. The last change in leadership that I experienced was for the worse because the single most important focus was on saving money—and staffing is the most costly part of the budget. There is large turnover within the bedside nursing staff because the short staffing practices create stress. The ANM’s constantly have to take a patient load and are not available when needed. They rotate placing nurses on “late start”, which is basically being on call without call pay. You’re called prior to your 7:00 shift and told not to come in, but have to call in at 11:00 at which time you might, or might not, have to go to work. 

Interning at Baptist Healthy For Life in Jacksonville, FL was an amazing and educational experience. During a typical week, I would see 50+ employees and educate them on how to live a healthier lifestyle. When I was in the office, I assisted in created, developing and implementing employee education programs. I also assisted in every day-to-day office work such as; answering phone calls, assisting employees with health issue and online forms, interning data, organizing and sending out pertinent forms to Baptist campuses. My co-workers were very encouraging and helpful when I needed assistance. The hardest part of interning was having to deal with difficult individuals but the most enjoyable part of the experience was interacting with almost all 9,000 employees. Out of all my work experience, this has been the most educational and interesting.

Responsible for verifying benefits for home health and respiratory patients.  Also responsible for maintaining contact with 45 patients on a daily basis.  Duties include contacting insurance companies to follow up on claim status for payment.  Also working claim denials when claim were not paid according to contract benefits.  Responsible for taking credit card payments over the telephone from home health and respiratory patients.  Also verifying changes in insurance benefits if a policy was cancelled.  Duties include balancing credit card payments at the end of the day to ensure accuracy.  The hardest part of the job was when elderly patients cannot afford to pay home health bill if insurance companies did not pay because of contract issues. The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to help patients understand how a claim was paid while helping them understand how their benefits work.

I've been fortunate to be a part of the Baptist team. They focus on the patient and a good quality of life for the employee. I had planned on working there until retirement, many years down the road, but my department was restructured and my position was eliminated. 

I really felt valued as an employee and feel that management genuinely had an interest in what you were saying and suggestions you made. Never did I feel that management was unapproachable or unhelpful. Baptist's surrounding with care initiative was in my opinion an amazing approach to patient care, showing that every person from the custodian and maintenance person all the way to the doctors had a chance to positively affect patients. They stressed superior customer service from all employees, and I felt they exemplified it.

Baptist Health is the kind of company that only cares about money, the last thing on their mind is their employees. They work their nurses to death, place strict rules on their staff in an attempt to control them, and allow patients to be verbally abusive to their staff. Their system is rooted in politics and the only way to move up is to know people. The only thing Baptist is good at is providing a toxic work environment that is detrimental to the mental health of all of it's employees. Don't try to go to HR, they're only there to protect the company and you best believe they will disclose everything that you said in confidence to everyone. They don't care about you. Don't work here.

Really enjoyed the environment, people in department, and customers they are really friendly. Learned many positions of different nurses and roles from dealing with patients to paperwork and it gave me a chance to know what to kind of expect when i go into the nursing field in the future. My co workers  were all much older than me which was the best part i got along with everyone including the different managers. There wasn't really a hard part of my job I actually enjoyed going to work everyday and looked forward to learning new things but I enjoyed mostly visiting the department with the infants and observing the different things the nurses had to do it was very interesting and would be something I would like to do within my nursing career.
