Beware: If you love your country and you love free speech, this is not the place for you. People have been fired for casually (i.e. non confrontationally) posting their affiliations on their own personal social media feeds. You are expected to “rat out” your coworkers. 

I am a nurse and have been working here for 10 years in obstetrics and quite frankly I have had enough of this place. Nursing Management plays politics and favoritism is rampant. The CNO and Womens Director over Baptist East are both egotistical maniacs and want complete authoritarian control over all nursing staff in the hospital; even the Managers are quick to say this! Floor nurses in most areas get treated like they are dispensable. Nurses cannot communicate issues with the management without getting punished or berated in some manner. COVID has exacerbated issues that were already present, but understaffing is a huge issue they only care to address it with more travelers instead of taking better care of the staff they have! The straw that absolutely “breaks the camels back” is that care is uneven throughout the hospital. Medical patients that are sick and need the most care are not valued as much as mothers and babies, who should not require as many resources. This is the main reason why I am searching for a new job. I would not even take my own family members here for medical attention because of this. Bottom
line is if you value your sanity and you want to work in a place that does not leaving you feeling drained and worthless, this is absolutely not the place for you. 

Baptist health MCC lab has its pros and cons, pros being off on weekends and holidays aswell as no nights. Most times the current manager of the lab is willing to work with you if you need off for doctors appointments etc. cons are low pay, for a phleb with good experience and skills the pay is really low not really a good place if your looking to move up, I recommend Working with the hospital under Baptist health, you move up quicker and better pay raises. During the pandemic while daycares etc were closed they showed little to no concern after a while for workers who have kids whose daycares were still closed, I was told from HR that “everyone else is making accommodations why can’t you” I had taken advantage of the childcare solutions suggested by baptist health that I was comfortable with until it no longer was available. Lab environment, instruments always breaking, patient volume is extremely high. Gave notice of resignation and they still treated me as if I quit without any notice, refused to payout my pto, listed as a no rehire and refuse to give my incentive for working during the pandemic that was already calculated and stated dates that you have to had work in order to receive & check stub was already posted!  I do not recommend ! Not valued as a hard/skilled worker nor does HR help you with concerns.

Baptist Health Systems offered a more flexible time schedule which allowed my department to work 4 9 hour days & then on Fridays we worked 4 hours & got off around 12:00.  I was responsible for speaking with patients calling in regarding their hospital bill on all 10 of the Baptist Health System hospitals.  I would follow up on the account appropriately depending on the matter of why the patient was calling.  I would take payments due (co-pays, deductibles, monthly promise to pays, etc.) over the phone from the patient.  I would set patient's acct up on promise to pay agreements so patient could send in monthly payments on their total balance and also would offer patient's discounts for paying the balance in full.  I would correct insurance on patient's account & send in adjustments for any balances that were meant to be adjusted off.  I was responsible for working return mail that the hospital received on all 10 hospitals.  I was responsible for every day job duties and was also chosen to be a part of the "Super User" (We got to test the system out before any of the other hospital employees were able to use it) team when we converted our system over to a new system.

A typical day at work consist of cleaning and helping coworkers. You learn that management doesn't care for their employees. They are always short staff and employees have to rush through their work and extra work to get off in time. The people who get hired don't know how to clean or do not want to clean, leaving the work on someone else. Some employees get overtime but only do half the work, leaving whatever else behind for other coworkers. It's nice to work here, but the management team consist of liars and will lie even though you did nothing wrong. Some employees can get away with anything, but if another did the same they would get in trouble. The team leader always harasses new employees. The team leader doesn't care about the work, complains all the time, and degrades people. Another thing is if you come here for career advancement think again. They will tell you that after six months you can transfer to a different department, but they will block your applications because they refuse to hire people when they are already short staff. I don't recommend working as a housekeeper because the doctors and nurses are some of the messes people there and will make a mess on purpose just for the housekeeper to clean.

For the most part, the benefits are good. The people on your team that you work with on a day to day basis are often great as well. There are often times when middle managers are clearly not qualified to run a department and, chances are, they were probably placed there because of some believed degree of loyalty for hanging around twenty-plus years. There is no room for job advancement and the pay scales for non-clinical staff are so far out of touch with market standards that it’s embarrassing.

Regarding the IT vendor: I’ve never worked anywhere before where a vendor so blatantly attempts to give directives and orders to the company who has hired them. As if the aforementioned situation isn’t offensive enough, IT staff constantly second guess and seek to undermine Baptist employees who are well qualified to do their jobs. From Baptist employees being given fact-finding, homework assignments to being outright talked down to in a disrespectful manner, this company possesses an attitude that they can do no wrong. If you’re ever inclined to voice complaints or concerns, you’re told by Baptist leadership that you’re the one with the attitude problem.

A typical 12-hour night shift in the ICU for me starts with getting report, taking a quick glance at the laboratory/diagnostic results and medications. Meeting my patients and family, performing head-to-toe assessments including vital signs. I discuss the expectations during the shift and have an agreement. I then follow the doctors’ orders for the day. I assess the patients frequently and document every two hours, calling the MD to make changes to the orders as necessary.
I learn to pay attention to details and critical changes, preventing them from escalating. I take care of the patients holistically, which leads to their speedy recovery.
I report to my charge nurse, and give brief reports to other nurses so the patients’ needs are met when am not available. The manager makes sure that the nurses are comfortable and can come to her with their complaints. 
The difficult part of the job is having family members who pick on less important issues instead of the big picture.
The most enjoyable part of my job is that it is very flexible. Employees are supported and encouraged to pursue their career advancement.

A typical day at work is very busy and challenging, though that is not a bad thing. I have learned that no matter where you work, there will likely always be people who do not appreciate what you do and there will always be aspects of the job you may not like. Management is varied in how they interact with employees. Some are great and nice to work with and for, others like to micromanage and treat employees as though they are not important. Most of my coworkers are great and I have built several friendships while working there. Others, as in any career, seem to do as little work as possible and make it harder on those who do their jobs appropriately. The hardest part of the job is knowing that sometimes, no matter what, the patient may have a bad outcome. The most enjoyable part of my job is the knowledge that at the end of the day, I have helped my patients to the best of my ability and though they may never know my name, I have been a vital part of their treatment.

As a PCT, you work 12+ hour shifts, sometimes 3 days in a row. You get 30 min for lunch, and no other breaks. If you need to use the restroom, you go IF you have time. The pay for what you do is terrible, and the nurses on the floor treat you like a slave. Finding another PCT that actually cares about the patients was really hard. Most of them are just there while they're in nursing school and don't care about the patients at all.
Meal assistance, ambulatory assistance, bathroom assistance, showers or bed baths, prep for pre-op, post-op; lots of elderly patients from local nursing homes, so lots of brief changes and cleaning with very little help moving patients; exposure to highly contagious diseases; you do literally everything that doesn't require administrating meds or difficult procedures. So unless you're needing experience in the field, or enjoy punishment, I wouldn't recommend this job to anyone.

Worked here after college thinking I would build a career out of my degree. Raises are a joke. Atmosphere is tense at times and departments don't mesh well, it's an "us vs. them" attitude. Once you're employed for a while, you'd have to make some serious mistakes to get fired, so Baptist does offer job security in that regard. I eventually decided to work toward a higher paying degree, the raises I received did not match the increases in insurance each year, so I was making basically the same as when I started. Raises are offered to certain staff members before employee surveys to boost their survey ratings. Management, admin, and CEO act like they care but when the real questions about improving employee engagement and overall workplace happiness are asked, they skirt through and dodge the questions and suggestions. 

Bottom line is this: Don't get stuck working here for as long as I did, use Baptist as a stepping stone into a higher paying career if needed.

This would be a much better place to work if they would update their policies to allow for visible tattoos that are not vulgar. They are stuck in time. Even with this being a Christian based hospital. The benefits are so-so. They don't allow access to paid time off hours that have been accrued since start date...until 6MONTHS later. I am not a lazy worker, nor do I call out often, but when they penalize you for having to leave work due to an illness.. its absurd. I have worked for hospitals that don't count you as absent for a full day because you had to leave. They also only allow 3 absences within a year, starting from employment date, and after that, you get written up. FAMILY EMERGENCIES HAPPEN. 
Overall, this is not a horrible place to work but they could take much better care of their employees in regards to their personal lives. The workload is too much and there is not enough staff... I wonder why.
