Bayside would be an overall amazing place if the management and co workers literally didn’t suck. The clients are amazing and taught me so much while I was employed there. When I started at Bayside I was completely thrown to the wolves and literally had to learn everything as I went. After my training I still felt as though there was so much that I didn’t know what I was doing and I was constantly taking care of people that needed the constant attention. Some clients have a staff that is suppose to always be with them, yes people call out but they are always suppose to have a staff member with them other than the instructor however I did see that many of them were just stuck in one room all day. The co workers there can be friendly but also enjoy gossiping and lying about you to management. There is not very much room to grow here. Once you are an instructor that’s about as far as you can go because all of the administrators are making good money and have no reason to leave. Clients are not treated the best and there is definitely some favoritism where some clients get things that others don’t. While working here you also don’t get breaks. You receive two fifteen minute and one thirty minute lunch break that are paid but you are still with the clients are taking care of them so you never get a moment to catch a breath. Management also over workers the staff there constantly asking you to work over time or working around the clock and still expect you to come in for your normal shift. Residential staff are treated unfairly, while the center staff gets holidays and weekends off the residential staff must work all holidays and weekends to give the clients care. I feel as though there is plenty of room for Bayside Community Network to grow as a company if they had the proper management. 

At first look the clients are honestly great people when you get to know them. All the house workers and leads and residential aids are really nice people who will treat you amazing and become great friends to you. However management often tells you how to do your job despite sitting behind a desk all day and considering you an easily replaceable pawn. They will not respond to you ever unless it suits them. Communication between them is honestly an all time low except for when you mess up. One of my trainings the teachers didn’t even show up and I waited there for an hour. This happened twice. Holiday pay is pretty interesting, especially the part where we have to work 12 hour days at time and a half while management and center workers get to stay home and do nothing while also receiving full time pay. This job is great if you wanna get into nursing or as a great first job but management will probably not even remember your name because they’re a bunch of privileged sycophants. If you really wanna work here I suggest applying for the janitorial job because you’ll get paid more than the actual medical aid people. Plus nobody will give you the “iTs AbOuT mOrE tHaN A pAyChEcK ItS aBoUt HeLpInG pEoPle” shut the heck up, some of us have families to support. 

I absolutely love this place! Coming from a place where i dreaded getting out of bed to go to work and where the atmosphere was toxic and chaotic. I feel so incredibly blessed every single day to be able to say i work here at Bayside. The clients all become family and the staff are so helpful making your days go by quick yet productive. There are so many opportunities for growth in positions and not just that in knowledge with all the trainings and teachings  to better serve our guys. From day one the administration team and director were so welcoming loving and proffesional. I am so excited for my future i see myself growing and evolving and being a huge part of the positivity here at Bayside. I Definitely recommend those who actually care for  people, whos desire is to make a difference in the lives of those in need and genuinely have caring hearts to come and join this team.

Pick up ladies from center and take home and or to appointments, and or shopping.
I learned so much about  mentally challenged people, they are each so special and love to be loved and cared for.
I was very comfortable discussing any situation that arose with  management staff. Open door type of policy.
Co-workers were pleasant. they sometimes did not care for my suggestions but my concern was for the best interest in the ladies.
The shift 3-11 was the hardest part of the job , it did not blend well with my home life. The challenging part of the job was narrowing down who was stealing from the ladies ( how dare them take advantage of those less fortunate than ourselves) I had no problem standing up to anyone when put in this situation , of course being very diplomatic about it and documenting all situations. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to put a smile on the ladies faces and to have them except and give back a hug.

They tell you the clients have "rights" but then every day you see them being bullied by the staff in passive, weird ways and definitely DO NOT treat them like they have rights. They made a client sit in his own urine all day before he got to go home and get a change of clothes, and I saw that multiple times. The way staff talks to the clients made me see red but every day I had to bite my tongue. I was told anything I was ever uncomfortable with doing, I wouldnt have to, but after being hired I never had a say in anything that made me uncomfortable and then my "boss" would make jokes about how I was uncomfortable with a few things and made me do it anyway. Things like put me with violent clients I had no training for. This place is a joke and if you have any loved ones who are special needs, I strongly advise you to take them somewhere else. The food they give to the clients compared to the food they give staff at lunch is horrible. It's just a horrible place. Dont work here.

Typical day on the job, really cant say how it is going to go from day to day must be able to adapt to change and unexpected situations. 

Have learned alot not only from the job itself but each client has such life and personality. From dealing with behaviors to teaching them life learning skills. Helping with every day things that we may take for granted.  
 Hardest part of the job is the unpirdicktablity of the day and the physical aggression that my clients may display at random. I work in the behavioral developmental area. 

This is a very gratifying job and field to work in. Even on our worst days you find joy in coming to work here and these clients can bring a smile to anyone face.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I've been her for 10.5 years and they are family oriented. they understand when unforeseen things happen. The consumers teach you something everyday and put a smile on your face.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
If you do what your supposed to do its not stressful.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
For the most part everyone gets along. But everyone does work together.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I and the CDS Coordinator I take individuals out into the community wherever they want to go and have fun all day doing it. I assist them planning the tips, develop calendars, and much more.

I served as a personal support worker. My duties were to work with clients who have disabilities. My main job was to take the clients to community events to promote social inclusion. I also helped in the center and had many different tasks there. I have learned how to communicate better with clients who may not have the ability to tell you what they want. I also learned that yelling doesn't work and the clients would come to me because I was always calm. The workplace culture contained too much drama. The hardest part of the job was to watch someone get treated unfairly because they didn't have the ability to tell someone what was going on. The most enjoyable part was to see the clients smile when they saw me.

Bayside has been such a great place to work! Getting to know each of the individuals has definitely been a highlight for me! I wish I would have started working here years ago! The atmosphere that the management team has created definitely feels like a family. I feel so supported in all aspects of my job. As long as you come to work and provide genuine care to the individuals management doesn't have an issue with you. It when a job isn't being done that they intervene (Which is how it should be).  A lot of internal changes have occurred recently and I personally believe for the better. I would Highly recommend working here! If you are looking for a place to be long term - this is it! 

I have been working at Bayside for almost 10 Years. I started off as a 1:1 and then went to an instructor. Now, I am in an administrative role. I wake up everyday loving what I do. I have been taking care of people for 20 years and out of all the places I have work this is hands down the best place to learn new things. The consumers brighten up my day even when I'm not having a good one. Management is very family oriented and during my time here they have helped me with many challenges in both work and personal situations.  If you take the time out and see the people and what Bayside stands for you will be fulfilled in so many ways. I don't see this as a job. I know this is my family and we treat everyone here as such.
