When I first started working at the Murray store it was a fun and healthy environment for the most part. I enjoyed going to work every day. After a few months in I was told I was getting promoted and then it didmt happen for months. One of the assistant managers left so they said they were going to do interviews for a new AM but when the interviews started they told us they decided to give the job to the current AMs little sister without an interview. Then my GM left and they promoted the current AM to GM and her little sister to first AM. These two were incredibly young (19 and 21) party girls who would constantly come to work late and drunk and would sit in the back room for the first hour of their shifts puking after showing up half an hour late. The company became very clicky and the managers didnt care about running the store well they just cared about partying and hiring all of their friends. I always felt targeted by them, I would work harder than most of my coworkers and then have my hours cut, I wasnt trained at all when I got promoted by the previous GM right before he left and then would constantly get in trouble for small mistakes I would make that i had never been trained on in the first place. I think most of it was because i new the GM and AM in high school and we did not like each other in school i would go as far as to say the little sister hated me for some reason even though we never talked. In the end I was fired after calling I'm to go to the ER. I got my shift covered (my cover was like 30 minutes late because she lived far away) and I had a doctors note and they said it wasnt aaddiquate because my cover was late and because the doctors not was from three hours after my shift started (I was in the er for three hours). Mind you there friends that worked there could no call no show whenever they wanted without even getting a write up and the two of them could be late whenever they wanted without consiquence. Over all, ok company, but they hire incredibly young, unqualified people to run there stores..

I worked at Beans & Brews as my first job. There was no real say in hours especially because a lot of the workers were students. My assistant manager was amazing, but the store manager was meek, accusatory, and lacked leadership. Sometimes working at a place for years is not a good reason for someone to be a manager. The district manager also threw around hollow threats for plans on changing that was never implemented. The workload was unevenly dispersed. There was too often people that would stay in the back unless begged to help. With tips I was averaging around $12/hr (tips are shared) so pay wasn’t horrible.

Despite the things I didn’t like, when it was good it was good. There were few coworkers that I didn’t like and the atmosphere was really nice. I enjoyed the people I worked with and many of the returning customers. Good discounts on products (50% for coffee, 25% for merchandise and one free sandwich and drink during your shift). Management was pretty lenient and rarely wrote people up but that might be attributed to the fact that the oldest person in the store was 25. Overall it was an okay enough job that I consider it when thinking of getting a second job but bad enough that I wouldn’t consider working there full-time.  

Working behind the counter and serving coffee was amazing. I loved making people’s days by starting their morning with a friendly attitude and some high quality food and drinks. The customers, coworkers and atmosphere are what make this job so enjoyable. Each location is unique and lovable. 

Management positions are rewarding, but come with a lot of drama. You have to be prepared to handle some stressful situations, and you pretty much have to be a yes man if you want to advance in the company. Turnover is very high, so it helps if you’re willing to pick up the workload of others who slack.  Even if you do that, it’s not guaranteed that you’ll be acknowledged for your hard work. 

The corporate office is cliquey and very disconnected from the store level. The people who manage at the top levels only seem to care about the bottom line. 

I highly recommend working for this company at the store level, but I wouldn’t suggest getting involved in management or corporate operations.

If you're looking for your first job, this is the place. It's a very easy job, but the make-or-break depends solely on which location you're applying or working for. Each store has completely different management, and a different way of doing things. 

There are lots of opportunities for advancement, they generally like to promote within the company and encouraged to climb the ladder. 

Good benefits and average pay, tips are pretty good most of the time. 

Can be a fun place to work, but the atmosphere can also be toxic depending on the manager running the store and the coworkers.

There's also a three day training period that takes place in Sandy, UT no matter where you're applying to. Be prepared with transportation, they're not as forgiving since Covid.

Remember when interviewing for a company, you're also interviewing THEM. 
Ask LOTS of questions.

The management is horrible; its unprofessional, fuels gossip, overshares their personal life, prompts people to quit their jobs there, and are unfriendly. The equipment is old and it is the busiest location which does not help and the wage is bottom-line ridiculous. Beans & Brews does not care about its employees. The tips are collected over a course of three-days, which causes quite a bit of unfairness for those working on the slow days. I do not recommend working at this location, until management has changed. The mangement was frequently inappropriate, especially when revealing inappropriate incidents that occurred at bars and clubs in front of co-workers and customers in hearing distance. The general manager is extremely rude and unfriendly. 

Be wary of this location.

Working at Beans and Brews I was hopeful that working for a local business would be better than a larger company, but I was wrong. They understaff the work place so there is barely enough people working to complete each task and then the manager will leave early so you are now officially understaffed. It is dirty and not maintained well. I have worked 8 hour shifts without a single break to sit down, eat, or even drink water. Above all, the stores in Utah County did not require customers to wear masks and Beans and Brews opened their lobbies so that customers could sit down. They do not care about their employees. The only benefits of this job is that is it easy to climb to higher paying positions and they do give you health insurance. You are on your feet all day though and have to deal with an overwhelming amount of orders one after another without a single break. 

  A typical day at work includes me opening the store and overseeing all operations during the day.  I also take calls at home if employee's have questions or concerns.  I have really learned a lot about management in this position.  From multitasking to setting the example to lead a successful team.  My manager is the franchise owners, and we have a great relationship.  I effectively communicate with them to ensure the store has everything it needs. I have built life long friends with my co-workers.  They are truly some of the best people I know.  In addition, I have also built great relationships with some of my customers.  I have enjoyed serving them.  The hardest part of the job is staffing.  Food service typically has a higher turn over rate.  The most enjoyable part of my job is the art of making great coffee and setting the tone for customers day!

In my experience, management only cares to have anyone open or close the store. They even go to hire anyone just to have bodies. 

Eventhough the company tries pushes for consistency in all comporate stores, they struggle in doing so. This happens because no one actually takes the time to go through company policies. This is frustrating because you get angry customers demanding the same same service the received at another store, but goes against B&B policies. 

This company could improve if they stopped trying to be Starbucks.

Worked there for several years. Coworkers were often hit or miss, as expected of almost any workplace. LOVED working there, loved the regulars, the environment, and the pay I received as a manager. Corporate made a lot of decisions in recent years that didn’t really have employees in mind; starting pay was WAY too low to live on, staffing shortages were left to store managers and district managers to deal with (often worked overtime to cover if employees didn’t show up), introduced delivery apps to increase sales but no increase to wages, etc. There were no retirement benefits for full time staff, insurance benefits often changed in the middle of the year. Overall, good place to work, but corporate definitely left much to be desired.
