Bedrock Care

A typical day is one where I come in to check my email for anything that needs immediate attention.   Round the facility make sure everyone is in place to do their job,  talk to residents concerning their care and needs being met.  Assist with answering call lights.  I continue to prepare for stand up meeting, and communicate any needs to the managers, deliver assignments or announce any important news or meetings.  Continue with taking care of any pending issues prioritizing by  due dates and importance;  Do stand down meeting in afternoon and continue addressing daily business that comes up in the facility, e.i. staff or resident concerns-and deal with anything that improves admissions and getting payment for our services.
I have learned so much this year and continue to learn.   I have learned more this year about business office -what goes out and comes in and be able to identify root causes for overspending in all areas and how we can avoid this -weather is in central supply, overtime, hiring, transportation, medications to name a few. 
I continue to work at developing a workplace culture that works as a team and respects each other ; A team that is able to  talk about any topic where we need improvement and find solutions and not point fingers; But instead mentor and teach those that may be doing it wrong in do it the right way.   I want a workplace culture where every employee has true compassion for the people we serve.  That they may be content and accountable on their role.  The hardest part of the my job is not being able to be there 24/7.   What I love about my job is caring for our residents, meeting their needs and keeping them safe. 
  

Horrible facility to work in every sense aside from the patients themselves. The staff is mostly agency because of lack of staff retention and the majority of the staff that isn’t agency is highly dissatisfied with the facility itself and work environment and upset that we get paid less to do more when they could change admin and pay us more so they could actually  keep people instead of paying agency. CNAs are hit or miss (you have some REALLY fantastic ones and ones that are MIA and even though they have a room assignment you can’t find them anywhere) Things that matter are overlooked whereas things that are petty are harped on and the level of discipline seems to be directly related to who you know (I make sure to keep “friends” so it’s not directed towards me). This place truly has the potential to be a really good facility if they made changes like if they stopped spreading the staff so thin and had more discretion with how they treat people. 

Corporate is another story altogether. They don't pay their bills on time. Supplies necessary to keep the building functioning can't be purchased because you have no credit to buy anywhere. They come in to the building to check up on you and tell you that you are doing everything wrong even though it was fine that way before they took over the facility. They are more worried about the walls being painted (horribly I might add) than they are about equipment actually working or preventative maintenance being done on schedule. They tell you that you have to do even more work with even less staff and try to break your spirit Despite the fact that I now have to look for other employment, I am sure it will be better than Bedrock Care has been. They don't CARE at all!!!

I have worked here for many years and the long-term employees are a great support system to those just starting out. The benefits could be much better for the area I am working. It's hard to find coverage for eye, dental and health that works well. Our cooperate office in in Philadelphia and are designed for the employee's that work in that area. I have advanced to the LNAC position, and I am loving the job. I will say that they asked me to step up to the position which is a great confidence booster. After 40 years (37 of them in this building) it's nice to be able to switch things up. I still have the opportunity to see all of our residents and still have an active part in their plan of care.    

DON:  Professional, hard working and committed to both residents and staff. 
Management team: works well together for the benefit of our residents
Activities department: always planning fun filled afternoons for our residents and are always happy and positive when interacting with residents
Work days are fast paced as we have ongoing admissions/discharges
I serve a dual role in both MDS/Care Plans and Wound Care nurse; both positions allow me to utilize my skills and I am always presented with new learning opportunities which assist in building my skill list.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I get a paycheck but it comes at a cost to my family. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
NO work/life balance.  If you are salaried, they own you.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
In the building it is great!  The company is corporate heavy and does not offer support.  You often get spoken to in a demeaning manner if you need advice from the “consultants” assigned to you. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
High stress from start to finish.  It often carries over into your personal life at home.

Typical day at work: good employees always seem to flee due to management/owner changes.
I learned a lot on my own, made my own way up, and no credit, no raise, and no gratitude was given. 
Management,  to many to think which ones either cared for their own causes of Financial or not cared at all about the employees or both. Sadly it was always stated, it's all about the money coming in.
 No professional ediqutte, not many educated personnel...and those that had the qualifications and quality were replaced...
Only few co-workers were really caring, mindful and educated...

What is the best part of working at the company?
The pay is decent. That is the best part for me. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The lack of professionalism. The place is completely disorganized and the management doesn’t seem to know what is going on. When you ask for help, it is handled very unprofessionally 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is a very negative work environment. Everyone fights and yells at each other. People are sarcastic and degrading and constantly make others feel uncomfortable. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day is stressful. No one communicates

A typical night @ work is to 1st identify all that need immediate care then locate supplies to perfom duties. Next is to anticipate emergencies and early appointments while following MD orders in a timely fashion. Co-workers are diligent and eager to assist with proper guidance,instructions & supplies. The hardest part of the job is not being able to know residents personally. The most rewarding part of the job is a "Thank you" & at the end of my shift knowing with uncertanty that I did my best!

The DON has favorites whom can get away with not following the rules. Yet others are corrected all the time.  Having family and friends working for you can always cause issues with other employees.  

I  was doing my best as a employee and often not taking breaks. We were usually short handed.  I was suppose ably  being rough in giving care.  I  was not rough, just had to do things often by myself and it was not a easy job. I miss my job and most of my fellow workers.  I  do not miss the favoritism that was there.
