Workplace culture is friendly. Where it fell apart for me is the unorganized and very pressuring management. A few times my supervisor berated me for actions I didn't do, bc he thought I was someone else. Management is very focused on squeezing as much hours as possible out of QMHP's. Would not have been a problem if they were willing to assist in dealing with transportation/ housing issues that certain client's had that was eating time away from time with other clients. They constantly send emails telling QMHPs to let them know of any trouble they have with client's, but when I went to them with mine, all I got was a "get more hours with your clients" speech. The pressure to keep the management happy with hours can lead to burnout eventually. They do make sure QMHP's are well equipped with company laptops, which came in handy for providing worksheets and information to client's in the field.

I had high hopes for this position as I moved 2 hours for this job. I barely had any hours, I felt very alone in my training and supervision, I also barely made money in my paychecks from this. 
My supervisor often brushed me off and would let me know he had more important things to take care of than to help me out or discuss things during my supervision meetings. He wasn’t very helpful and I ended up figuring out I was better off figuring stuff out on my own. 
The breaking point for me was barely making hours, not having guidance on how to ensure hours were made, and overall feeling more independent than I should’ve when it was promoted that it was a tight knit company. It came to the point where my supervisor was the only supervisor I could be under, so I had to leave to ensure I received decent paychecks, and received the proper guidance I needed to move forward in the field.
The saying is really true that people quit bosses, not jobs.

In my brief tenure at the company, I observed a corporate culture that prioritized financial gains over employee well-being. Despite assurances of job security, the reality was starkly different. The leadership, particularly the CEO and president, exhibited a focus solely on revenue generation, leading to a lack of support for employees who couldn't immediately contribute monetarily. This abrupt approach to layoffs and the disregard for individuals who invested their time and commitment was disheartening, reducing employees to mere numbers. It's essential for potential candidates to be aware of this aspect of the company's culture when considering employment.

I learned to value my time, hold to my boundaries. They beached my contract, kept making excuses as to why they didn't pay me on time and basically had me doing hours of work for free. The HR rep said, "it isn't sustainable to keep paying me the rate agreed upon and wanted to renegotiate terms without paying me money owed!!!! Several times I would still work even though I wasn't on the calendar just to make sure the client received services, but the CEO does not value his people. I would be asked to work on the weekends to fill the shift, worked it, just to keep the 23-hour program running and in the end, that didn't matter. The people in the top don't know the day-to-day operations and the sacrifices made. 

Working at Behavioral Health Services of Virginia has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The organization genuinely cares about both its clients and employees. The supportive management and collaborative team environment foster personal and professional growth. Opportunities for continuing education and professional development are abundant, ensuring that staff can advance their skills and careers. While the job can be challenging due to the nature of the work, the positive impact on the community and the supportive culture make it worth it. Overall, it’s a fulfilling place to build a career in behavioral health.

This place lacks professionalism, empathy, & honesty. They hire the most unclassy people. The current employee in the QA department is very disrespectful. She acts as if she is some sweet person, but she is untrustworthy, rude, unclassy, and disrespectful. They have a high turnover rating and seem to get rid of their most professional, trustworthy, and loyal employees. I’ve worked for this place for 5+ years and this is by far the worst job to work in the medical field.

I love my job as Qualified Mental health professional.  I have the opportunity to work with clients and families from different backgrounds, cultures and belief systems. I am passionate about helping others understand their feelings and behaviors so that they can move forward in life with a better sense of self-worth, fulfillment and purpose. My daily responsibilities include providing individual therapy, family counseling, crisis intervention, educational support services and referrals

The company was overall good to work for. There were times where there would be lack of clients available for counselors though, making it difficult at times to get sufficient hours. They do offer many activities to boost and keep morale however. The small, family owned environment makes you feel a lot closer to the company and your work rather than being just a number in a big agency.

BHSVA use to do a lot of team outings, and be a fun place to work,  but unfortunately many people have left, inducing supervisors and overall staff. A lot of us that remain feel like the company is getting drier and drier, while management gets richer. No upward mobility, no real supportive feelings from management either. They send it in emails, but we don't feel it. The raises are hard to come by also. Would like to see pay increases, and a sense of peer community.

I like my job because the culture is very important to me. The culture at my job is one of respect, teamwork, and communication. I feel that these values are very important in the workplace and I am proud to work for a company that upholds them. I also like the fact that my job is very challenging and I am always learning new things. The culture at my job is one that encourages growth and learning, and I appreciate that.
