First, let me be clear, working for an MSP like Bell is NOT a long term, sustainable career choice. Bell Techlogix is another managed services provider (MSP) which means zero long term job security. You are just a number in the system. You will float around to other client accounts depending on your job title and must always be billable to keep your job. If the client ends the contract, you and your family will be thrown out on the streets within weeks. Of course, you will NEVER be told this upfront during the interview process, because no sane person would accept those kinds of conditions in the first place. Even though the pay was decent and they have flexible work from home options, too much time is spent on small administrative tasks such as time entry and arguing over hours worked or hours that are billable (from working with different companies and clients)

If you are new to the managed services provider business (MSP) model, let me shine a little light on how this works. MSP's will use you, abuse you, and throw you out when they are done with you. Bell is no exception. Again, you are just a billable number in the system and that's all. If you are not billable for the client company you will be quickly disposed of.

With an MSP, there is no long term commitment to their employees, it's all about the profit margin they make off of their employees and clients, when there is no profit left to be made, you will be eliminated. Several managers have admitted this to us over the past few years. A former coworker’s manager told him to sign up for state unemployment benefits or look into local food banks once his 3 year contract was over and he was about to be laid off. This poor guy had a mortgage, 3 cars, and 4 kids to support. He was no longer profitable for Bell to keep around since technically you do not work for the client company, you are an outsourced or contract employee. Moving around to different accounts and clients is also very tiresome and time consuming due to the fact that you must relearn all of their systems from scratch

If you are looking for a good, simple, entry level IT job Bell Techlogix is not bad, but if you have a house, family, mortgage, and kids, and are trying to settle down into a career with long term growth prospects, this is not the job or company for you. This business model is simply not sustainable in the long run

MSP's do not invest in their employees for the long term, as that would go against their business and profit goals. Instead, they see their employees as disposable assets once they are no longer generating revenue for the company. MSP's offer extremely high risk jobs that have no job security or financial stability due to the weird structure of the billing systems

If you are not aware or do not understand how the MSP business model works, you could be setting yourself up for a real disaster once that contract is over. Proceed with caution…you have been warned!


If you actually know anything about IT, you're going to be constantly frustrated by not being able to do anything substantial and having to deal with the incompetence of your coworkers, both local and offshore. They will stick on so many teams you're expected to master while paying you below industry rate. They'll keep you on a 6-month contract for eight to avoid giving you holiday pay or overtime. They will open up more positions offshore and then refuse to promote from within. 

Your screen will be recorded. Your calls will be recorded and judged by AI. You will be picked apart by QA for small details in tickets that others can just ignore and never be called out on. You will be absolutely beholden to the KBA, even when it hasn't been touched in half a year and is outdated. You will never hear about a change the client makes until your queue is flooded with users who are just as ill-informed as you are. The offshore team will drop their work off at your feet and you will just have to deal with that because only US agents can take calls.  Good people will come, have every last bit wrung out of them, and then drop out. They're moving every new client and every client who renegotiates to an entirely India-based team. Wanna go from Help Desk to Network Engineering? Too bad, that's outsourced now. Have fun making $19/hr in IT when they would sell you overseas for pennies.

If you're within 60 miles of Indianapolis, you HAVE to come into the office. It's the saddest little cubicle farm out there. No more shift differentials. You will never make more money for doing more work. Each client added to your responsibilities just takes away what little free time you get between calls and adds more stuff that they will never train you on to learn on your own.

Can you learn and develop here? Sure, you'll get some basic AD/O365 admin training, but anything above that is gatekept hard. Nothing you couldn't train yourself on or learn anywhere else that actually cared about you. If you have no other offers? It's a job, sure. If you have any experience, certs, degrees, etc.? Find somewhere else. They won't value you for it. They care about metrics ONLY.

You will learn a LOT from this position. Also, be warned that working here is a 'stain' on your resume when it comes to IT. Due to some of the bad choice hires, other IT companies will look at your resume and immediately be turned off. Use downtime to get certs if you're serious about IT. You get an hour lunch, which is nice but also means you're there for an hour longer than you want to be. You'll be taking mostly phone calls, with some emails and very few chats. You have to ask for permission to go on break like you're a toddler. 

Bell Techlogix specializes in assisting companies with their IT needs, such as serving as their help desk. This means you'll sometimes be learning 15 different IT systems. This is both a pro and con. It's a pro because you're exposed to a lot, it's a con because you're expected to be a MASTER of all of them.

When I started the pay was abysmally low. They implemented a new pay structure a few months after I was hired but did not bring current employees in. This led to new hires baseline making more than most of the employees of the same title who had been there for a year plus. There's a reason that the pay is low, though; they'll take anyone in. I had several coworkers that didn't know basic IT concepts.

There's a minimal exercise room. They tried to implement a "game room" and ping pong table to quell the uproar that was caused by low compensation. Pre-covid, executives would spend an equivalent to your entire salary on a private room and drinks at the Indy 500.

There's room for promotion to a certain extent. They do play favorites though, so if you really want to succeed you need to play kiss up and keep in line. Don't work on night shift, you will be expected to learn WAY more than your day/evening shift peers without extra compensation; while being held to the same standards of knowledge and execution. You'll also be given more work because "night shift has down time" even if your client load keeps you busy all night. My advice to night shift is to play dumb. The smarter you are, the more clients you get. You don't get compensated for having more interactions than your peers, you just get more interactions.

Working at Bell Techlogix has been nothing short of a nightmare. The company masquerades as a tech pioneer, yet it's stuck in the dark ages, both in policy and practice. The executive team, with their heads in the clouds, mandates a draconian return-to-office policy with zero flexibility. This insistence on outdated attendance norms is ludicrous for a company that supposedly has all the necessary tech to function remotely.

The equipment we're provided is laughably antiquated—monitors that are relics from 15 years ago, and peripherals so cheap they'd barely suffice in a budget internet café. It's a slap in the face, considering the nature of our industry.

Stepping into the office is like entering a corporate dystopia, complete with an HR department so disingenuous it would make Hollywood blush. Management, meanwhile, is a black hole of ambition, sucking the life out of employees with empty promises of advancement, only to leave them marooned in their current positions.

Financially, the company boasts about its profits and expanding clientele but doesn't share the wealth. We're told to be grateful for delayed merit increases, and if you dare to change roles within the company, forget about any pay rise—your ambition is effectively punished.

Despite my team functioning perfectly well remotely, I'm shackled to an office desk under the pretense of needing “face-to-face collaboration” and “spontaneous training opportunities”—both of which are as rare as common sense in management. Speaking of which, they're so spread thin that it's a miracle if you get a snippet of guidance or recognition.

In essence, Bell Techlogix is a farce, a place where career growth goes to die, and employee morale is ground into the dust. The pay is pathetic, the opportunities are a mirage, and the company culture is toxically indifferent. They'll hire anyone with a pulse but treat them like disposable cogs in a machine. My advice? Get in, grab whatever experience you can, and then run for the hills. Staying here is like willingly sinking into career quicksand.

Most employees are overwhelmed with multiple projects and working for different accounts. If you do not enter your "billable hours" correctly it messes up your paycheck every week. Most support teams are stretched too thin, often causing employees to quit after 6 months or a year. Then the next person they hire has to inherit their predecessors mess. Very inefficient system of working and it makes the company look bad. Management changes every 6 months so there is a complete process breakdown while they catch up to speed on what is happening. Managers have no idea what their employees do on a daily basis, its all about meeting ticket quotas and forcing surveys on users.

Ticket numbers and user surveys are the sole measure of success at Bell. You could spend 10 hours installing network switches at a site and then get in trouble the next day because you didn't receive any user surveys. Desktop Support teams are forced to do network administration work as well, but without the network admin pay.

The "Service Delivery Managers" oversell and overpromise to keep their contracts for another 3-5 years. You have a 500 user desktop refresh coming up? Yeah, sure, we can do that with one tech in 2 months. No problem!

At the end of the day, the MSP model really does not work for the clients, the providers, or the IT techs they employ for a lot of reasons. I'd be willing to bet in the next 5 years we're going to see a huge number of companies move away from the MSP model. It's not sustainable in the long run.

Having worked at several other MSP's, Bell is much more personable and employee friendly than other managed providers. We've had our contract renewed 3 times in 9 years and have a good relationship with our client company.

However, even though Bell is a decent MSP, there are some things that are not so great either. The client/provider business model is completely dysfunctional, this is true not only for Bell but all other managed providers as well. The typical MSP business model creates too much red tape and levels of bureaucracy just to get simple things done. Too many layers of management makes communication difficult and causes support issues for front line employees. Employees don't have the tools they need to get the job done. The rules are constantly re-written for no good reason, causing low employee morale and many employees to quit after 6 months. Nothing is ever good enough for management, causing lots of conflict and communication issues...

On a positive note, they do provide a good number of vacation and PTO days, flexible work from home options depending on your position, and most of your co-workers are nice people that you will get along with and develop good relationships with.

Where do I begin? First of all , the work atmosphere is toxic . You can’t make any mistakes or be human at all . They want to be robotic , remember the 30 different changes because they can’t make up their minds how they want stuff done . While they can mess up and it’s no big deal . Secondly, the pay and benefits are garbage paying someone $18.50 and thinking your doing them a favor for an IT position is an insult. You can work fast food and get paid more . You accrue pto at a snails pace and then you basically have to wait a month to use it , two weeks in advance plus the current week you're putting it in . They don’t give you what you need to be successful in your role, they’re technicians I know that have like 40 tickets in their queue and they have one van so they have to wait around and take turns going out to their customers. I wouldn’t recommend working here to anyone. Learn a skill , learn phone repair or micro soldering or car repair . This place isn’t worth it . If you value your sanity, stay away! I know no job is perfect but for the work you do they’re definitely places that will pay you more . There’s also no room for advancement unless you’re in their inner circle or they like you enough 

BellTech is a strange work environment. If you're an image tech, you typically dress in a polo shirt or get completely dressed up (if the client is Altria, for instance). The day typically starts with imaging a number of computers, or unpacking them at the very least. You'll end up with dust all over your dress clothes, but that's no excuse, management says. Rolling out computers to a number of locations requires traveling on your own dime, with little compensation in return for the amount of gas spent going from Richmond to Petersburg, or wherever. Clients expect you to be dressed up to roll out their computers, and no matter how dusty and disgusting their workstations are, you better not sweat or get dusty and look your best regardless while you're personally moving everything the client's employees were supposed to do themselves. It's a thankless job, and you're typically treated less than. The pay is OK, usually $15 an hour, but the projects last only for so many months and then you're out of work for a few months. There is little room for advancement even with a number of certifications in place.

Lots of micromanaging causes work to grind to a halt while your manager constantly threatens you with your job on a weekly basis. You will spend several hours every day emailing your manager back and forth about ticket updates or other workplace drama. There is a strange obsession with meeting a quota of 8 tickets per day which is a totally arbitrary number and in no way accounts for the amount of work being done or the time spent on a particular issue. Most employees are overwhelmed and stretched too thin. You are constantly being told that you are not working hard enough and "things aren't looking good" whatever that means (most likely a veiled attempt you get you to do MORE work)

The workplace atmosphere is full of hostility and made me feel very uncomfortable at times, especially during meetings where we would get yelled at for no apparent reason. No overtime is allowed so the already overworked techs start to fall behind which only makes the situation worse. Management has almost no experience whatsoever, the techs could probably be better managers.

If I could give myself one piece of advice before I started there it would be to RUN!!

Bell tech is a call center. When I first joined up, I was in contracting work and looking for a full time position. Bell tech was able to provide that for me, which, I'm super grateful for having a stable position where I could earn. experience. Bell does not work with the general public, but rather with clients, so depending on what team you are on, The calls can be pretty relaxed as well. Bell has been making great strides in trying to keep employee retained, including Work from home benefits, as well as raising salaries from 13 to 16 dollars an hour. However, more then anything, these feel like ploys to attempt to retain call workers. At the time of me writing this, They have been frequently slashing lunches from an hour to 30 minutes, after being told for months that we were having trouble hitting our quotas due to lack of manpower.

Bell is certainly a good place to get your foot in the door if your fresh out of college looking for that experience. however, unless you really enjoy or have the endurace to continue with Call center work, there will be a point where they will have nothing else to teach you, the stress will get to you, and it will be time to move on.
