My experience at BCHC was difficult due to a work culture that often felt dismissive and unsupportive. Communication from leadership was inconsistent, expectations shifted without clarity, and the overall atmosphere created a high level of stress for many employees. It often felt like staff voices were overlooked, and raising concerns didn’t lead to meaningful challenges. 

The gap between leadership decisions and frontline reality was significant. Many employees expressed feeling undervalued or unheard, and this contributed to a work culture that could feel heavy and emotionally draining.

Although the mission of serving the community is important, the internal environment made it challenging to perform at your best. With meaningful changes in leadership approach, transparency, and staff support systems, the workplace could improve significantly but based on my experience, those changes are urgently needed.

Management is very unprofessional and disrespectful. They pick and choose who has to follow rules and who doesn’t. Lots of favoritism. Uneducated managers and supervisors. They claim to help the government and low income families but they honestly have the most horrible and poor service. Ghetto atmosphere. The employees that actually are good get treated poorly and when they try to go above and beyond for their patients they are shut down and constantly  reminded of being government funded and never having the proper equipment to fully satisfy the community. Honestly don’t understand how this company has not been shut down !!

I worked with BCHC for a little over 2 years and it was an ultimately negative experience. There was a distinct lack of diversity in leadership which made it difficult to move up, and the work environment is insanely toxic. Furthermore, there was little transparency in management decisions, no job security, and high employee turnover. Be prepared to do the job of two different people for the salary of one. I really love their mission and I wish the leadership embodied it, but they don't. By the end of my time there, I was really burnt out, my anxiety was so bad, mentally, I was not OKAY! I could go on, but my advice is to stay far away from them if you want to have any semblance of a work/life balance. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Hourly employees who are category A- level the entry level get 3.5 weeks of accrued vacation for a full-time status. There is a work life balance, the mission is meaningful and the employees work as a team.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You work with individuals with health issues and that can be stressful.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is a family environment where people work together to achieve a mission that is helping the community and making a difference.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The day goes by fast because, I am busy. I have a variety of tasks, and my supervisor is very supportive.

Management was not structured enough. Some were not suited or educated to be in management role.  Too much nose browning and favoritism. Hard workers with sense of going above and beyond were not appreciated.  The CEO is a lovely woman with empathy and desire to run a health center to the under served community of Reading, PA. That being said, the COO position had frequent turnover that led to unorganized, unstructured and unstable environment. No one ever knew if they would show up and be told they were fired for undeserved reasons.

After being hired you are asked to do more and more. When people leave and they are not replaced you are stuck doing that job plus your own. Communication is minimal to none at times, no one wants to take responsibility for anything including management. Wrong priorities in a non for profit company, you do not get the support that is needed to be successful at work, makes you not want to come to work most days.


Changes here can happen every week , Everyone wants to be your boss and tell you how to work. People quit every other week. Feed back to patients is lacking in many ways i feel bad for patients needs. Little staff for all the work that needs to be done. Meetings every chance they have with little progress to help staff with problems. retaining employees is a big problem. This could be a great place if they really wanted to make it work.

This is overall a good place to work.  The CEO and CMO are both very nice and caring women.  The pay is decent and they are trying to improve that.  The benefits are average.  Overall this is a good company to work for.  Like any company there are issues but the are working to try and fix things to that staff stay and patients are happy.  

More bad than good. Lots of favoritism starting from top management. Higher staff gets in your work affairs and don’t stay in their lane. Place is far from being structured. Toxic work environment and Lots of gossiping, no room whatsoever for advancement, you must be well liked or just plain lucky. Would not recommend at all... low pay for most positions and the work load is outrageous. When hired I was in for a HUGE surprise.

Productive environment overall. Very generous patients, usually respectful. Worked with two amazing highly skilled doctors, and great hygiene team. Unfortunately management is highly unprofessional and poorly skilled, never was direct with confronting issues always went upon what others had to say. Usually limited supply, leading to instruments not always promised on being fully sterile and causing a stressful environment.
