Despite the ups and downs, I’ve always made the best out of each situation with a mind-over-matter approach; however, the work environment has often been distressing due to conflicts among coworkers and challenges that impact both staff morale and the children’s experience. Working in this environment taught me a great deal, strengthening me both mentally and physically, while also enhancing my ability to learn from and understand others throughout my experience. Due to the level of professionalism expected, I felt that certain situations could have been handled more effectively with clearer communication and greater understanding. At times, the workplace could be very toxic and stressful. The culture was predominantly Caucasian, and as an African-American woman, I often felt excluded and that my perspective was not fully recognized or valued. The hardest part of the job was managing the children while adapting to last-minute changes, compounded by being held accountable for past actions that had already been addressed. The most rewarding part of the environment was working with the kids creating meaningful memories, engaging with their personalities, and confidently serving as a role model to shape their growth and future.

This agency is failing to keep clients and staff safe. They fail to provide the services listed in their client's IEP due to the lack of staff (such as consistent therapy).
Providers are not receiving the training and support they need to be competent to deliver the required services in their programs. That’s no lunch break, and have 10 minutes to yourself is almost impossible.
No one is receiving feedback and development with the model they use in the program and they continue to use the model without the required supervision to ensure it is being used correctly and that providers are being developed.
More and more people are leaving, and no one wants to face the reality that great employees are leaving due to the incompetence of leadership, the lack of support, and how employees are poorly being treated. 
Clients are being secluded by people holding the door from outside (including supervisors), which is an unauthorized method of seclusion. 
The agency prioritizes profits over equitable pay of their staff or the care/safety of their clients. The agency functions from a vertical, top-down hierarchy which offers little to no transparency about their operations or decision making. The agency has zero respect to their workers.

I have worked at BestPoint for about 4 years now, and I can't imagine working for another company. In this line of work, it's very difficult to find a company that cares about it's employees. BestPoint is supportive and has great management to encourage its employees. Coming from a previous company that had no work/life balance, my transition into BestPoint was eye-opening to experience a company that was willing to support it's employees. The Care Coordination department is a tight knit group of helpful and kind individuals who are willing to share resources and tips whenever they can. Specifically the Care Coordination Supervisors go above and beyond to ensure their teams have all the tools and skills needed to succeed in the role. I have not had a bad experience with anyone in upper management, everyone is down to earth and willing to help out wherever needed. BestPoint is a great group to be a part of if you have the opportunity!  I recommend this company to everyone interested in being a part of the social work community!

A typical day involves meeting with clients, completing documentation, collaborating with teams, and managing crisis situations as they arise. I learned how to balance clinical skills with compassion, adapt interventions to diverse needs, and maintain strong boundaries to prevent burnout. Management is very supportive and encourages growth. The workplace culture is mission‑driven and focused on helping families and children, with team members who genuinely care about each other and the clients they serve. The hardest part of the job is managing emotionally heavy situations but that comes with what I signed up for when I went on this career path. The most enjoyable part is seeing real progress in clients’ lives and feeling supported by colleagues who share the same passion for mental health work. The hiring process was so smooth and seamless, my recruiter did an amazing job ensuring that I was properly informed throughout the entire process and they were transparent from the first call. I could not ask to be a part of a better organization because I am already here.

Since starting at Best Point 11 years ago, I have consistently felt supported and valued as an employee and as a person.  Through the years, my supervisors and managers have supported and encouraged my clinical and professional development and it is clear that the agency cares about its employees. I appreciate the continued focus on the wellness of staff- from allowing the use of mental health days,  to planning agency Wellness Days and to providing staff support groups. 

I fully believe that Best Point is committed to its mission and to providing support to children and families. I have a deep sense of pride in the work that is done at Best Point and believe that Best Point has some of the best mental health professionals in Greater Cincinnati. The work can be tough, but if you care about the type of work a community mental health agency does, you will not find a more supportive environment. 

I am a current employee at Best Point and have been a part of the organization for over 5 years. At first, I loved it and was sold on the mission.  Unfortunately within the last 2 years, leadership has continuously failed their employees and now this is an extremely unhappy place to work in. There is a lack of training for new staff during the year, an intense workload that is unattainable for anyone, and supervisors who do not care for the safety or well-being of their staff. There is also little to no opportunities for growth if you are a contract employee. Once you are hired HR does not like to have staff move through the ranks or move departments. They do NOT promote a healthy work-life balance and WILL make you do more work than you can physically do during your contracted hours.  I would not recommend this company to anyone currently until something changes, especially for the educational department in the company. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing good. There is a toxic feel here that starts with the CEO. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The CEO is rude and nasty and has created a culture of fear. Mistakes aren’t allowed. He has tricked this fear culture to all leaders and managers. He spies on everyone all day long with video cameras and keeps track of everyone who comes & goes and orders lunch in. He tries to intimidate you if you have a different opinion. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. A culture of fear. If the CEO doesn’t like you, you are punished. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You work hard, working well more than a full time schedule and just wait for a manager or leader to pounce on any mistake you may have made. 
You get accused of all kinds of things and even when you haven’t made an error, you never receive an apology.

I have been with Best Point for almost 4 years, and I have felt valued and supported throughout my journey with them. I started out as a school-based therapist before being promoted to a care coordination supervisor, and in each role I've had, I have had wonderful supervisors and managers who have guided and supported me and who have truly listened to me and care for me. I believe in Best Point's mission, and I see day in and day out the work that is done by everyone from direct client providers to executive level personnel to carry out this mission. It is easy to experience burnout when working in community mental health, and Best Point knows this and has worked hard to create a culture in which employees can feel open to share these feelings and can participate in agency-created events to help manage the stress of this work.

The programs offered here are great for the students and families!  The employees who give the most are the most taken advantage of here!  The more you do, the more they expect, but you won't be appreciated or rewarded with a pay raise or even a pat on the back!  One of the school programs there has a disproportionate amount of "Associate Principals," and they have a high turnover rate of staff due to lack of respect from the admin!  Great programs for kids, awful environment for teachers! 

I enjoyed my time at St. Aloysius. Supervisors are supportive and will always be there to guide you. The work is fast paced and manageable! You have opportunities to grow and learn as a therapist and will be given amazing clinical supervision. St. Aloysius is a great place to get experience for therapists just starting out and also for the experienced therapist! You will be rewarded for hard work, independence, and loyalty to the company. You will have opportunities to develop great therapeutic relationships with the clients and families you will work with. The company is filled with people who are passionate about healing and mental health care. Highly recommend working for this company.
