Aggressive hiring strategy ongoing.  Chose diversity over qualified individuals.  While that is a fine in theory, in reality the CRO work pace is at lightening speed.  As a manager having to deal with a wide variety of  language barriers and cultural differences resulted in too many miscommunications, failed aims, and slowed the pace daily.  In addition, I saw several employees leave that were not replaced promptly which created a long term burden on other group members and managers. This affected moral.

In addition, no strong retention policy was in place for specialized or highly qualified workers when they became disgruntled and wanted to leave and BA could not afford to lose them. 

HR needs an overhaul!!!! The hiring/interviewing format is that if you interview and are successful you are "up for grabs" for any manager in the company to hire rather than the manager who initially reached out to get the person. This was odd to say the least and many times candidates with unique skills pertaining to a specific group were ultimately hired into another group that they did not want to be in. So you get an unhappy/confused employee from the start.

The best thing about BioAgilytix was the executive management group and the variety of projects and interesting work. They work hard to create a nice work atmosphere but need to pay more attention to the weird, aggressive HR department.

A typical day at work would be you trying to make sense of an independent workflow while still satisfying the companys/projects overall requirements. This is a company where you are responsible for creating the documents you need in order to develop and complete mid-high complexity testing. While it can be daunting to not have "standing over your shoulder" direction, the freedom of independence allows you to truly show your skills and work ethics. The most enjoyable part of this company is that you have the opportunity to learn many things. It all depends on what you`re willing to do. I was able to move into a contracted research field after only being in the clinical world. The hardest part about the job is also the freedom you have. When you are responsible for your own workflow you are also liable for blame should something not go according to plan.  Having optimal speaking skills is important. Being able to interact with your peers and ask the necessary questions to accurately complete your assay is paramount for success. Those that can not speak up will not prosper here.

Bioagilytix has rapidly gone downhill over the last few years, with a massively increased turnover rate and seemingly directionless middle management. While some of the individuals working at the company are genuinely incredible, they are often held back and bogged down by an endless blame game played by managers and HR. The company touts ideas that are needed, and then do nothing to implement them and doesn't assist the efforts of people that attempt to implement positive changes. There has been a continued effort to remove all benefits beyond the bare minimum for employees. While you do get exposure to many different aspects of the CRO industry, the stress involved isn't worth it. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
When it was Cambridge Biomedical and the first 2 years of BioAgilytix, it was patient-centric and admirable. The people were amazing. The last 3 years have been awful with the new CEO and new investment company taking over. The shift from patients and quality to money-hungry has killed morale and employees' sense of purpose.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The culture shift to a money-centric "push push push" environment. There is no accountability anymore.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was amazing before 2019/2020. After 2020, the morale is low, and hostility/resentment is high when  since the new CEO and majority-investment company came in.

Wild-west and a struggle for structure, accountability, and sense of purpose

The people and flexible work schedule.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Too many projects/tasks that you can complete in a day. Need more help.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stress. A lot of work to do with not enough people to do it. NO bonuses or even promotions. Unobtainable goals so you can kill yourself working but then you get nothing in return.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Multitasking all of the projects and trying to keep everyone happy.

Stressful and toxic place, no doing science, like working in the factory. Very high employee turnover rate, either layoff by the company or leave voluntary. CEO and executives are isolated with the employee, they worry about the revenue won't meet the corporate goal to have investors happy. Managers worry about not not having enough projects/clients to work with and have to layoff employees. Scientists worry about the CEO's annual revenue goal is too high to meet, the bonus goal will not be met.

I was reeled in and held on by the smoke screen presented by HR and the new employee orientation committee.  Once the smoke cleared, reality hit.   There is severely lack of communication, no accountability and pointing fingers. If you have any desire to improve things or disagree with management, you're done.  Upper management have no clue of what's going on and rely on their favorites.  If you get on the bad side of the favorites, you're done.

Flexible Schedule if you work in the lab.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Uncommunicative, terrible management.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Absent. Despite being very small their is an abundance of management and office workers. That spend most of the time eating bagels.

The company is a very small CRO and is just getting started with big clients. There are definitely gaps that need to be closed so you will never be without something to do. Some people do not like the fact that they will be facing higher scrutiny with such high level clients and don't understand why they have to slow down and follow federal regulations.

Some of the best people you will meet at a company work here. The culture is fantastic and the company is growing at a rapid pace. Sometimes it was hard to keep up with the growth, but it gives everyone the opportunity to stretch their legs and move into better positions.
