First and foremost I want to be fair. In my entire sales career I had the best manager ever.  Your role at Blood Assurance is extremely micromanaged, and in my opinion, by design.  Our manager did the best he/she could to mitigate the micromanagement coming from above.  Two, the position carries a lot of responsibility and expectations that cause stress throughout the organization.  Three, the position I left was not what I was hired/interviewed to do.  For what seemed like a weekly basis, additional expectations were put in our laps.  Shortly after being hired, upper management said "we don't want you married to the job--40-45 hrs per week were expected".  I was eventually working 60 hours/week and not accomplishing everything that was expected of me.  So with that came a lot of undo stress.  The additional workload came in the form of repetitive admin and repetitive meetings.  The casualties of the admin & meetings was donor recruiting, opening new hosts/sponsors, reduced sales calls, and poor efficiency come the day of the drives.  It's a really fun job when you're in the field meeting new people & organizations.  I think all the account managers faced these issues.  My co-workers were great.  Everyone worked to help each other accomplish their goals where they could.  Finally, not having the resources to meet our goals & expectations in the field.  Account managers were added to the field, but the number of available busses didn't change.  You're increasing unit goals by adding account managers but you can't hit those goals without increasing the resources.  It's my sincere hope that this review might help upper management see what's realistic.   The mission is great, but the path to get there is flawed.

There are many bad parts to this company; however, there are many good ones.

The Good:
My interview was very relaxed and professional. I was very excited to work for this company at the time. 

Some of your coworkers will make this job easier, depending on where you work. Additionally, most donors are amazing. 

The Bad:
I applied as a certified phlebotomist and worked there for a little less than a year, but in this company, it doesn't matter if you have experience; it's all about what clique you fit into, and your manager or team leader likes you. 

If a situation occurs, the managers will always favor the team leader and back them no matter the evidence. 

The bus schedules could be more practical, and if you work in a facility, you're expected to work every other weekend and stay late if someone walks in the right at closing time. 

Most team leaders have very little respect for other phlebotomists. 

The pay is not worth the mental health you sacrifice working at this company. 

You think you're making a change and helping the community, but it's not worth your sacrifice. 

My advice to anyone applying here is don't. There is so much drama, no professionalism, a low-paying salary, and very little vacation time, and it does not offer fulfillment when you look at the grand scheme of things. 


What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part of working at Blood Assurance is meeting all the donors and getting to know them and take care of their donor process so it will be a pleasant experience and they will look forward to returning to donate time and time again.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of working at Blood Assurance is when a donor gets sick when making a donation. I don’t want them to be sick.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment and culture is pleasant, laid back, fun with a huge emphasis on customer service and customer care. The staff go to the next level to make every donor donation a pleasant experience.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
In a typical day I register a lot of donors entering their personal information etc. into their account. I answer a lot of phone calls. I also make a lot of phone calls. I spend time with the donors ensuring they have what they need while they are in our facility.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Easy money on days you don't have donors

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They lie all the time. No one cares about what you need even if it's to do your job. You can let them know something and no one will respond until you threaten to leave and even then they still sloth slow to do what needs to be done. I was told when I started by multiple people that if something is wrong it's no point in telling them because they don't care, they won't fix it, and if they do they are slow as ever to do it...worst job experience I've had 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Chaotic, way too much drama, this team lead don't like this one and that team lead don't like the other one. Everyone is constantly emailing about everyone else in hopes to get other people in trouble. I call it Blood Assurance High School. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come in with expectations for the day and it's always an unexpected twist or turn that screws everyone.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The day I finally walked out. I decided I would rather be depressed and unproductive then underappreciated and In Harm's Way Non-Stop. The donors were the best part of the job

Getting out of bed and going and putting myself in that position daily

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everybody lies to each other so you don't know who you can trust. The pay isn't enough to live alone and be a parent but it takes up too much time to have a second job. Management mostly from Red Cross, that's a problem for the staff and morale. I worked there too and they were bad also

Do everything myself because it is next to impossible to hire people that are willing to learn or already know how to work but just re

I had been there on the mobile bus for about 6 months and actually really loved it! The thing that made me want to make a change is the facility crew. They were always talking down on donors and gossiping about employees who worked there. They were always very negative and so whenever I’d be helping in the facility, it was mentally draining. Towards the end of my time there, some stuff started going on that shouldn’t have been. I spoke to my manager about it and she said something would be done. Nothing got done so I sent HR a letter and they sent it right back to my facility. Another one of my co workers reached back out to HR and nothing was done. All they care about is money money money and protecting the company. It’s not worth selling your soul to that place. I will say the pay is decent and my bus crew was the absolute best! 

Have been a phlebotomist for 12 years and in the Quality Assurance department  for 10 months. I wanted to try something new and was interested in the clerical part of this job and have learned so much from working on the other side of the company.  I have helped also with special donations which consists of talking to donors on the phone as well as mutli-tasking and talking to doctor's office and filing paperwork. I stay busy with the phone ringing constantly and answering questions while looking over paperwork and making the necessary adjustments. I then let the lab know that it is ok to release the blood to the hospitals. I work with a team and we all work well together we know what it means to do what is necessary to get the job done if one of us is out we cover and get the job done.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Really there is no good part to working with this company other than a paycheck. They really do not care about their employees, however they do have a good pr department. They present a good family image but once you work for them you image of them will change. If this is the only job you can get - take it but keep looking for something else.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They do not care about employees. Constant micro management, they want to monitor everything you do.

Terrible, worst company I ever worked for.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A day in the hottest part of hades. NO respect from upper management , they constantly lie to you about everything

getting to know the donors and the feeling of helping your community even if it is a small impact

the leadership is bad, at times disrespectful and know it all, chasing numbers instead of being supported of their teams

bad at best...after 4 years I had had enough with the overall experience 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
usually not very busy so expected to bring your donors to you, which would be ok but there is a whole department for recruiting and it felt like they back off in certain areas so the staff would be responsible for bringing in the donors and reap the recession if they weren't able to

Was told upon hiring they would train me fully on third shift since I told them day one I couldn't work any other shift. The management agreed to training me fully on third shift. After being there for almost two years I was told I had to complete my training which would be only on first shift. I told them about our original agreement and about how they had time to train others just didn't want to take time to train me like promised. They told me they'd change my schedule at random knowing I couldn't work it and if I didn't show up I'd be fired. I had to quit my job and find another one. I have two kids and they weren't able to stay home alone.
