The work itself can sometimes be fascinating. Everything else there is wrong. There are Power pulls amongst staff, back, biting and finger pointing as opposed to teamwork and positivity.
Management could care less about the well-being of their staff and they do not listen to the needs of staff or reasonable suggestions.  Rather than work with established staff, they have fired 30 year veterans as opposed to resolving issues.   In other departments, they simply look the other way when people aren’t doing their jobs or worse, and those that are are the ones that get the heat.
There are disparities in implementation of policies and procedures. 
Training pretty much does not exist, you learn through trial and error, and they are real quick to point out your errors .  
The general environment and atmosphere creates a sense of tension and makes you question your own self-worth.  
They pay well and that’s the only way they hold onto people for any length of time.   
The building is not kept well. There’s poor air ventilation and it simply is filthy.  



The hours were unsteady, it was rare to get a full work week of hours despite being full time. The pt to staff ratio is horrible. Pt safety isn't a concern among upper management. It is not uncommon for 16-18pts and 1 staff member, plus all charting is still hand written and you get wrote up if you stay over to finish paperwork. The unit nurses are amazing, always willing to help staff whenever needed and took staff's opinions into consideration. The MHT's are awesome as well. There is a big disconnect between corporate and what actually occurs is concerning as well as not being able to properly meet pt needs. (Not properly facilitated for ASD individuals, having cosmetic construction during the busiest time of the year, heating/cooling systems not working efficiently, etc)  The facility lacked soap in pt bathrooms, and you leave feeling dirty I loved the job itself, and I too learned many things that have helped me as an adult.

They admit patients that definitely shouldn’t be there, staff gets beat up, actually got punched in the face by a child not too long ago, and they admit patients that have been here multiple times before and we clearly are not helping them but they keep bringing them back. They’ve also made it like a summer camp and these kids come here so they can miss school and we have children who stay with us for MONTHS before DCS finally stops dragging their butts and find placement for them. These kids make progress then go backwards and they know why they’re with us and don’t care what they do bc they know they’re not leaving anytime soon so why bother to make progress. 
Food is great but it would be better if we didn’t have to pay for it. The only time we get to eat is while the patients eat and I find myself ending up having to inhale my food and I feel horrible the rest of my shift. But my coworkers are great and I do sincerely care about my patients and they’re the reason I keep showing up to all my shifts.

Techs are underpaid for the work they do. Constantly left alone with 9-15 patients at a time. Did not have a single lunch break the entire time I worked here. Management does not care about their employees, nor the patients. The patients will not see a therapist their entire stay. The Techs are doing the work of three people, while being paid a single person's pay. Though they will expect you to use your own pay to buy supplies for the teen/adolescent patients. As they do not buy anything for them past basic necessities. 
--If you quit, they will put in their paperwork that they fired you. Which will harm your ability to find a new job. Petty management.

For the amount of work that you have to do, techs are UNDER PAID. The management is more concerned about gossiping about their staff rather than doing their jobs. They also have their favorites and it’s very apparent. It’s so understaffed because the turnover rate is so high, it’s ridiculous. They will schedule you on the unit by yourself with 9+ patients and expect you to do the job of 3 people which is impossible and not even give you bonus. If you aren’t full time they will just randomly add you to the schedule where they need people without even asking. 
The only things thats good about that job is the coworkers, a couple of the supervisors and most of the patients. 
The patients don’t actually get therapy, they basically are there to be put on meds. Be prepared to constantly be asked to pick up shifts.

If you're considering applying for a position at this hospital, I'd suggest you think twice. The environment here is far from ideal, and the reviews from patients speak volumes about the quality of care provided. During my time working there, I often felt embarrassed to say I was an employee. There seemed to be a lack of support and a general apathy towards patient well-being. With the hospital's impending closure, it would be wise to seek opportunities elsewhere where your skills and compassion can truly make a difference. There are many other healthcare facilities that prioritize both their staff and patients, creating a more fulfilling work environment. Don’t settle for less than you deserve!

Would work 16 hour shifts with only one 30 minute break. Unsafe environment and management favored men over women employees. Mandatory overtime. Low wages, poor benefits. The company only cares about making money and will admit patients who do not meet criteria and are extremely violent. However, would not admit individuals who truly needed the help. High employee turn over rate. Poor training. New hires were training new hires. Short staffed most of the time causing increased safety issues. I was hit in the face on several occasions by patients and received minimal to no support from supervisors.

If you want to work in a place where your goal is to actually help patients, don't work here. They will admit any and every patient for the money, regardless of if they pose a danger to the staff and patients. Even if the patient has been admitted 10+ times. I feel like I work in a detention facility more than anything. Meadows does not help patients at all. They also have their employees work 12+ hour shifts, without a break. I also feel like a majority of the staff hired is unqualified. I would not recommend working here.

I was in charge of daily patient care including safety of all patients and facilitation of psycho-educational groups for the patients. I learned to use effective communication skills and how to interact with people from all walks of life. I developed wonderful working relationships with my supervisors and coworkers. The most difficult part of the job was to complete all of the daily paperwork involved in my position. The most rewarding part of the job was getting to really help someone in need with their life struggles.

The nature of the job occasionally can be draining but staff support is always available
