Bluebonnet Trails is a great place for entry level practitioners looking to accomplish intern hours or gain experience to work. It's also great for those looking to advance into director and management roles or transition to other roles within the mental health field. Turnover seems high. BTCS is a managed care provider for the community serving the underserved and governed in many ways by the state, but they are taking initiative to expand beyond those confounds and offer services outside of state supports. Achievement expectations remain rigid and disciplinary policies accompany them including termination. That's the most difficult piece. The most enjoyable is probably the opportunities for professional development. I've learned a lot through this company, especially regarding diagnoses like Shizophrenia, Schizoaffective d/o, Bipolar d/o, Major Depressive d/o, ADHD, PTSD, anxiety and personality disorders, but I don't feel like I get as much experience with less severe concerns. The innovative expansions are slowly changing that. Management is mediocre and culture is tarnished, but coworkers are knowledgeable and driven compassionate cohorts.

Life sucking job, with lack of ethics and honesty. Don't take into consideration any hard work you do. They are not proactive or care about employees working the 8 hours straight without a break due to the lack of communication form Management and supervisors. And then, after working without a lunch break, calling your attention for work "unapproved overtime" despite the attempts of the employee to reach-out to management to notify the lack of lunch coverage. If you're sick, you better get to work no matter what, because a Doctors excuse here means noting. 

Everybody is in charge down there! Your supervisor give you a set of instructions to follow, and then other supervisor or manager change it because that the way they do it!

No team work what so ever. Training provided were useless and outdated. They have a culture of gossip in the office. 

I don't recommend this place to anyone! There are just a couple of employees that were a good teammates. Apart from them, I'll tell you, stay away from this place!

Also, If you need to do your practice in the Field, no matter how desperate you're are for your college credit, Don't do it here!

In this workplace, you can expect a high level of scrutiny, minimal clinical support, and frequent threats. The job demands maintaining a 55% productivity rate, and dealing with client no-shows or late cancellations, which occur frequently, without adequate support or understanding from management.

To cope with the pressure, many clinicians schedule 8 clients daily, leading to rapid burnout. There is no designated administrative time; you are expected to document concurrently without proper training, and notes must be submitted within 24 hours, including Fridays. All administrative tasks to maintain your caseload, except for referrals, fall on your shoulders.

Due to high turnover and low hiring rates, you are frequently tasked with responsibilities beyond your job description without your consent. The few benefits include a stable annual salary of around 43k, a hybrid work structure (3 days remote, 2 days in the office), ample direct clinical hours for licensing, and free supervision.

If you decide to join, be prepared for a challenging and unhealthy clinical environment. Isolation, interrogation, and belittlement are unfortunately commonplace here.

Hypocritical, micromanaging, unrealistic expectations when you are not part of the clique or try to voice your opinion and self advocate. They make all these promises and make it sound like the world's greatest place to work. The team does not communicate and I am convinced they like to work harder.....not smarter. God forbid if you are not part of the "clique". If you are not part of this high school team, your supervisor will find every little thing you are doing wrong and wrote you up for it. My supervisor was constantly looking into my notes for residents and MONTHS later asking me "why was it done this way" "why does the timing in the note not align with this incident", "if you have any questions or concerns, do not go to HR, go to me(supervisor)first so we can fix it". 
I LITERALLY had to start recording all conversations because what was being said btwn me and my supervisor, was not what was promised, or done. DO NOT WORK HERE!!! Pay scale is a joke and promises of "what it will be after so and so time" is a complete lie. No room for advancement if you are not part of the team....period

A typical day of work with Bluebonnet Trails was to see and educate parents of children with mental illness in 6 counties. I helped parents learn to advocate for their children as well as know the rights that their children had in school. I learned that every family had similar struggles in common and could share those feelings with other families supporting each other as needed. The hardest part of the job would be making contact with the families in the time allowed, when there were so many counties to cover. The most enjoyable part of the job was to share empathy and support to families who felt alone and had no hope. I enjoyed having monthly support groups in each county providing a meal and literature to the parents and children, as we shared stories and experiences we all had. I enjoyed supporting parents in 504 meetings and ARD meeting in the school as support to them if needed. I too had a child who lived with mental illness and it was nice to help them not feel alone.

You will be able to obtain hours needed for towards licensure quickly and supervision can be provided and you will learn a lot. There is intense pressure to hit productivity expectations, which can quickly lead to burn-out and poor work/life balance. Strong team/collaborative environment with really fantastic co-workers.Management is very hit-or-miss depending on the department you are working in (I've had wonderful managers and not-wonderful managers). Some in upper management have a reputation for intimidation though I have not experienced this directly. Little opportunity for career advancement and employees must use vacation days (vs. "training" days) when completing outside trainings needed for career growth/CEU requirements. Decent benefits but doesn't compensate for the stressful work environment and okay pay.

Although I was a contracted employee, the management I worked directly and indirectly with went out of their way to welcome me as a member of their overall staff.  
Typical day at work:  To succeed you must be self-motivated, detail focused, and invested in exceeding the required expectations.

What was learned:  Purpose, mission, and vision of Bluebonnet Trails Community Services.  Providing care, training, support systems, etc. to clients and their families.

Co-workers:  The employees I met that I worked with and those I did not work with were sincerely friendly and personable. The employee(s) I worked with directly always was supportive and eager to provide the support and guidance needed to meet the required deadlines.

Hardest part of job:  None

The most enjoyable part of the job:   The multi-assignments and opportunity to structure and develop standardized processes and reports.

What is the best part of working at the company?
My position was field based; I could wear what I wanted and could work from my car (company provided).

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Productivity was front and center.  There was no leeway on performance; even though my position involved high-acuity BH patients who frequently cancelled appointments and I had to drive from one location to another 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
There wasn’t one; or, if there was one, it was only evident to those who worked inside the office itself with regularity 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
8-5; some days I wouldn’t get home until after 9pm due to crisis intervention and transporting patients to local BH hospitals.  Otherwise, my typical day was spent behind the wheel of the company provided car; notes were done there or in session, lunch was eaten there, phone calls were taken there.

It was a pleasure to work for Bluebonnet Trails and I met a lot of very caring AWESOME people that want to do a lot of good for our surrounding communities and clients that need our services.

Caseloads are very, very high.
Management focuses a lot on productivity hours, aka the amount of face-to-face time you spend with a client that they can bill to insurance companies and get paid, rather than WHAT you are doing with those clients during that time you're spending with them that will help them get better. 

Productivity is very high
Caseloads are high
Training is not done well, at least for case managers
Documentation is not done well
Many clients get frustrated with the process, and I cannot blame them.

No regrets. I would do it all again, but a lot of changes need to be made to this organization in my opinion for it to be the best that it can possibly be.

The interview process was no worse then others that take weeks to decide on you. I had been interviewed originally for a PRN position but asked after the offer if I would be getting around 40 a week or if there was a FT position I could move to. The recruiter and HR were very accommodating and moved me over to a FT position doing the same thing. For a nonprofit the pay is pretty good and the benefits are better than some for profit companies. I love that they match retirement at 100% after 5 years, do tuition assistant/reimbursement, and my time with them will count toward PLFA.  So far it seems like it will be good and there is a lot of training you can opt in that is free that I plan to take advantage of to advance to a different position(s).
