Bluestone is a company that is changing as rapidly as the healthcare environment.  The leadership recognizes the changes in payment, cost, and quality that are driving some smaller practices out of business and they step up to meet these with a lot of energy.

The company is heavily technology-dependent as everyone is on the move going to assisted living, memory care, and group homes.  Being proficient on laptops and iPads will give you a leg up with training and job satisfaction.

Being a mobile company, most of the field work is done by very tightly knit teams consisting of physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical assistants (LPNs/MAs).  The great people at Bluestone make working closely with your team a great experience.  I went from working on a team to the office and I miss those relationships. Luckily, from the office, I can support them and build new relationships with other staff as well. Help is always a chat/phone call/text away when you need it.

Hours during the week can be a bit long, but they are also flexible. If you approach your full-time hours early in the week, Friday is typically a day to catch up on work and finish early if everything is completed.  Work-life balance can be tricky but is mastered with good communication among supervisors and team staff. 

Bluestone is rapidly growing into a preeminent healthcare provider for the geriatric population.  The amazing physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses are the soul of the company and only the best and brightest are brought on. Bluestone is growing in size and because of that, there can be some unpredictability.  However, with changes, leadership, management, and team staff all work together to get through the tough times and keep our patient care front and center.

When I'm retired and living in an assisted living, all I can hope for is a Bluestone team to be coming to the building I live in.  If not, I'm searching for a different place to live!

When I was hired I was told that I would have excellent work life balance I would never work on the weekends or evenings. This a blatant LIE! This is a job that will consume your life. You will work Monday through Sunday. There is no work life balance. You will work in the evenings and on weekends. You will work anytime the provider reaches out to you. Your job is to do absolutely everything the provider does not want to do. In this position, they keep adding more and more responsibilities and they never take anything away. As a clinical assistant you are there to assist the provider, but the truth is you are basically a mobile doctors office. As a CA you are the receptionist, office manager, nurse, and doctors assistant. You do everything! You have to get to the facilities before the provider at least an hour. Then you talk to the staff and do pre-rounding of all the patients. You have to make sure everything is ready when the provider arrives to ensure a quick and efficient flow. You will basically know your patients better than the provider. You have to constantly give them updates about what’s going on. Oh and did I mention the bridge. The bridge is a wonderful tool, except when you are the CA it is a nightmare. You are on it all day and night long and the weekends. If you are not then you will miss something pertinent and you will be scrutinized about it later. I think blue stone is a wonderful company that provides a service to patients in ALF’s. However, I just don’t think it is a great company to work for. All of their staff that works for them are excellent at what they do. They work extremely hard and blue stone consumes their life. If you love to work and you do not have a family or a life then this is the job for you.

I loved this company when I first started, and thoroughly enjoyed my role. As a clinical assistant, we assist our providers at various assisted living facilities, group homes, and memory care units, providing on-site primary care to patients in their home setting. There was a decent work/life balance, with being out in the field in the mornings to early afternoon M-R, and working from home the remainder of the day and on Fridays. It's no big deal to pick up the kids from school, run to an appointment, etc.

But there has been an incredible amount of change and so much turnover over the past year or so. Stability has gone out the window. It seems like every month there are more changes, more responsibilities piled on us. There isn't enough time in the day to get everything we need done, so many of us CAs work into the evenings or on weekends. OT is frowned upon, so many of us end up working off the clock to make our own lives easier. We are consistently overwhelmed and stressed as they stretch us thinner and thinner. This is a growing company with a LOT of potential, but it seems like they are losing sight of what the original core values are. Many of us are hoping that these are just growing pains, but if you join Bluestone at this time, be aware of these challenges.

Care Coordination is an excellent “last” job as you are nearing retirement! Great for RN’s and Social Workers!  There are also CCA (Care Coordinator Assistant) positions that are great for just about anyone who wants the flexibility of working remotely (no degree required). I would not recommend the CC (Care Coordinator) position for a new graduate or less experienced SW/RN because I believe you need to “jump in the fire” of your beloved  profession and gift yourself with invaluable experience first (ie- hospital or other fast paced environment). But if you prefer a less challenging experience then Care Coordination is perfect!! You’ll  have a great opportunity to really make a difference in a client and their families lives; you’ll provide them with health education, assistance with finding the appropriate resources, and so so much more. But, most importantly, you will be a strong advocate for your clients in establishing their best life! Plus you work closely with other Providers (MD, PA, NP, Mental Health Specialist, other Social workers, Case Managers ( waiver and other),  Group Home Staff (for some clients who reside there), Community Resource representatives, PT, OT, the list is infinite!! 
Care Coordination is like being a fairy who flies on the periphery and ensures all the I’s are dotted and the T’s are crossed. It is not without challenge and can be extremely rewarding. 

Working on the corporate side of things for this business, has been an absolute blast. The atmosphere for Bluestone is very supportive, family oriented, and fast paced! As a growing company that is starting to emerge from its small company status, it has been great to see that the same values that founded this company are kept. Uniquely, you have a CEO that takes the time to actually talk to all employees when he sees them. This alone you won't find anywhere else. There is no social hierarchy in place that suggests you can't talk to a leader or executive, and every leader I have encountered has been nothing but friendly. There are constant wellness initiatives and the company really makes the effort to connect with its employees' interests. Bluestone has challenged me, but it has been incredibly rewarding with the amount of knowledge I have gained in the past half year. This is a high growth company so there will be days where things have to get done in a fast manner or you may have to work later. Overall, I have not ever been pressured to work from home and the management team encourages work-life balance. The company is fully supportive of self development and really is focused on retaining good employees. It is unfortunate to see such negative reviews on this company as I really have not seen anything like that taking place.

Bluestone Physician Services has been a great place to work.  It makes sense that they have received high ratings for this category. In an ever growing company, Bluestone does take note to consider its employees every step of the way.  This includes great hours, appropriate work-life balance, and a culture which promotes growth and professional development.

The daily operations of Bluestone are constantly challenged by changing regulations for the patients that they serve as well as the healthcare industry in general.  This is something that is always on the forefront of training and development as well as process improvement within operations.  Bluestone stays cutting age by staying ahead of the latest changes or new initiatives and integrates employees who do the work into program development and training.  

It is great to work for a company that encourages professional development and growth.  This shows investment in retention of employees.   Compensation is definitely competitive, especially as I have worked in healthcare for larger corporations where it does not match what Bluestone offers.  

Bluestone recognizes the importance of its employees, and this is shown in so many ways.

Innovative, exciting and patient-centered healthcare delivery model for NPs and PAs. Patient visit schedule is flexible and can work from home, but there is always a heavy load of work to be done. PTO is near impossible to take as I am always working more before and after taking days off to stay on top of everything. On top of my duties, take frequent team call that is not compensated separately from my salary. Pay is average for a specialty with inconsistent raise and bonus structures. For being a fairly established clinic many processes are inefficient and unreliable for patient care, such as labs, the EMR, and following up on orders placed. Beyond the extra time it takes to troubleshoot these issues, many hours a month are spent on meetings asking for feedback or updating about changes in processes without meaningful improvement. Managers and admin are constantly promoted and more positions are created to backfill, but there are no opportunities for leadership or advancement for APPs. The company culture seems inclusive and family-like on the surface, but in reality people tend to get ahead by being “in” with upper management. 

I worked for Bluestone, it is a very unorganized company, many empty promises were made to customers & staff.  Very unprofessional & unethical. The training process as a new nurse was a nightmare. I had to job shadow three separate times prior to being hired. I was told that the person who I was replacing had been terminated due to not being able to learn the job. When I was training I was not trained by a nurse which created miscommunication due to my role being different than the person training me due to scope of practice. The person training me did not like having to train me, she constantly told me how much extra time she had to work at home because of her time spent training me. During my training I took notes to refer to in an effort to be proficient in a timely manner. This is how I learn a new job and have never had any issues with taking notes. The person training me did not like that I took notes. Instead of talking to me about this, she told management that I was not learning the job quick enough. She felt that I relied on my notes and that I should not need to take any notes.  I gave my resignation and have never looked back. This experience makes me appreciate my current employer so much more!

Never have I felt more welcome than when I came to work with Bluestone.  People made me feel like they were genuinely happy I was here.  It is so nice to work for a company that values its employees.  An example of how they show that is promoting a wellness program with tips and tricks, offering yoga twice a week and an opportunity to break away (many employees choose not to take breaks) and go on an afternoon walk with co-workers, also twice a week.  Management/Administration treats everyone the same, no feelings of hierarchy here.

Work duties balance themselves,some days overwhelmed but always able to accomplish my tasks with minimal stress.  

Bluestone is a team oriented work place, everyone is willing to help each other when it is needed. When large projects come up we all join together to get it done.

Bluestone provides a service to an often forgotten sector of our community, the elderly and disabled.  I feel they value each and every one of their "customers", their patients and their families, treating them with the kindness and respect they deserve.   I feel fortunate that I can be a part of such a wonderful vision.

The turn over rate is huge. I have never worked for a company that makes up so many job descriptions for people only to realize it doesn't work out so the people are tossed out or given other peoples jobs and those dedicated people are tossed out. No sense of job security. I have seen some amazing people with great work ethics just fired because they challenged one of their managers or managers minions. There are quite a few managers who are to young to even know how employees should be treated. While the older staff are not given credit for their years of experience. If your a little girl who has big dreams and will only do so by stepping on others. Than this is the job for you!  The other negative comments on here are so very true. But as long as the big shots are making money...than who cares. There is training for some and not for others. But when you get no training and ask for help. You are considered weak. Don't bother going to HR. They are not there to help you. They do not have fluid systems in place. It's a guessing game.  On the bright side, they are flexible. Unless you get one of the little girl managers...then good luck. They like to pretend they are important by making others feel small.
