I can easily list the thing I like about the job: Create your own work schedule/ Union for non-management staff/great holidays and vacation time/ free monthly metro cards/ electronic devices that allows working from anywhere: laptop, tablet, smartphone/ Small team of dedicated, supportive coworkers with no gossiping or office drama.

Easily, I wouldn't say I dislike the current salary for the level of work exceptions. A small team of less than five care coordinators has HARP clients, Health Home Plus clients, AOT court-mandated clients, DOHMH non-Medicaid clients, and the regular Medicaid client population. Each set requires a lot of weekly, biweekly, monthly, every three months, and every six months reports completed and uploaded to various systems and portals; this leaves little time to do the work you were hired to do, like provide services, support, and referrals to clients. A worker has little time to help and give the time and dedication needed for high-risk and high-need clients. 

The job is not bad, but you would have to be highly organized and willing to do overtime. 
The pay is not enough for the work demands, but it’s not indefinite. Honestly, current workers, including myself, got comfortable, and we never collectively advocated for a salary increase from the union.

The coworkers we make friends with. Management doesnt like friendships

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Micromanaging supervisors that all have a different answer to the same question. The points that you get for not calling your supervisor for a ten minute grace period. The redundant emails and proof we have to send to show them that we didnt leave the cars dirty. the way that morning shift has to clean the cars that overnight left dirty. The union that doesnt do a thing to help us.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Disgusting. If you do good work, they give you more work by putting you in operations. If you do bad work, they pair you with someone that does good work. You dont get rewarded for putting in work. They could give you multiple hard stations just for you to miss your lunch break because you got a complex station. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Not bad if you're not on the managers bad side. Go to the office, get your partner, go to the field, fake do stuff, make sure the paperwork looks right and go back to the office

What is the best part of working at the company?
This has to be the worse decision I have ever made in my life. Superiors are un-personable, rude, and the company really DOES NOT care about you. They will allow "peers" to put you in unsafe, potentially life-threatening, situations and you are made to be the bad guy. No one investigates any employee complaints, so do not even waste your time. No matter who you say something to, from the bottom to the top. Probably some of the nastiest personalities in one organization. There are people who come in, do their job, and do their job WELL. As this job is not for the weak, why make it difficult for those who it easy for all.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dangerous situations and socially unaware peers

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly amongst likewise pay grades. Anything above that is most likely rude and unwilling to empathize with anyone other than the clients.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Could be calm, could be hectic. Depends on deployment and chemistry of the team. Also strongly dependent on weather.

The best part is easily the people you work with. If you’re a money getter, there’s an abundance amount of OT

Upper management and lack of communication and organization between management and regular staff

Very toxic. Management does not care what goes on amongst staff; supervisors drink on the clock, and complaints will go unheard. Not a place to stay at for long, grab your experience and get out. All programs are the same and have little to no oversight, so the directors get away with murder essentially

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful some days, easy the rest. Depends on who your partner is and if the partner you’re with is comprehending the work. If not, expect to train your coworker for free, cause there’s no extra pay there

They pay is above average and supervisors etc.. are not down your throat

Forced overtime  director and higher don't know how to talk to ppl they think they are always right but they rarely are

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Clock in wait to be assign can and team have to be at the transit station before 1200 am work at the station lunch is either 1-2 or 2-3am leave transit station at 5 am get back to office do paper work and computer work from rest of the shift

Bowery Residential Committee is honestly one of the worst companies to work for. They don't care about their employees; it's all about the government money that keeps clients around. The workers are treated like they're easily replaceable, and it seems like we're always made to look like the bad guys. Handling intoxicated homeless people is a nightmare, and the company does nothing to keep us safe. It's frustrating to deal with harmful situations without any support. Plus, there are rumors about staff sleeping with clients and pressuring others to do questionable things for them. It’s a toxic environment that prioritizes profit over people, and it really leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.

Its a place where you should spring to something else because you can become complacent there.  You will eventually have to move on.  Co-workers take advantage and call out sick any time they feel and you will /would have work overtime and still be expected to return to your regular shift.  Its a plantation where slavery still exist.  Only the the hierarchy's receive the benefits while the techs get sick and some eventually have to leave  due to medical emergencies/ reasons.  

However, you still have to work because bills have to be paid.  If you are looking for another job don't be surprised if they blackball you by giving negative references.  So their you are stuck in a position that you can not get off because you have bills to pay.

I'm not sure what the employment retention rate is for other sites, but it is an atrocity at Pitt Street. The director in charge of that site does not care about their staff. They cut corners for the clientele and comp staff time. Staff is given comp time instead of OT, and personal time is sapped if we are just late. It's NYC and its downtown. Lateness is inevitable, albeit uncommon. There is almost no support from fellow staff. You get more support from the clients than from staff (of course there are always exceptions). 

BRC has great benefits but the hierarchy and favoritism here really messes up the work environment and makes the employees feel discouraged. It is common for social service jobs to be quite unethical but what bothers me the most here is the lack of consideration for CTs/program aides and managements corruption overall. I only love my job because of the clients and my direct coworkers but higher-ups are the reason I want to leave. No matter how much i complain, management still manages to become worse and continue to target employees.

It was a great experience. To be able to be an apprentice there. Great staff great pay.

Was not stressful at all. I enjoyed working for the city of NY. As well as the staff.

Just maintenance work. Cleaning offices and hallways. All grounds wok as well. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I ould jut make sure that ofi es bathrooms and hallways where clean. Real easy & not stressful at all.
