I've been with Box now about 5 years and year after year, the company culture, leadership, and benefits continues to impress me. When I started, I was really drawn in by the people and that's a true testament to our values. People are really kind and get stuff done - it's not just a fluffy environment - people really mean it.
I've also seen the benefits change a bit since I've been here too - for example, sabbatical was added which was such a bonus for those with tenure. There are also other really great benefits like maternity/paternity leave and a strong ESPP plan.

Middle management does sometimes take the brunt of decisions that don't cascade as easily downward sometimes and other times, decisions get passed around to so many stakeholders for opinions before a decision is made. I think it's really the growing pains of being a not so small, but still somewhat intimate company.  

If you ask anyone at the company what the best part about Box is, they will likely say it's the culture and there is a reason why. I have worked here for quite a few years and people do really have the ability to "bring their ____ self to work" every day. The benefits are pretty good -- good insurance coverage, flexible schedules, ESPP but lacking 401k matching.

People here are smart, kind, always willing to help and strive to get stuff done. Good work is often recognized but promotions can be difficult depending on the org. 

If you like the high-paced atmosphere of a startup but want the security and perks of a more established company, this might be the place for you. 

Management is trying to impose more order on the chaos but they have a ways to go.

A typical tech company with a lot of room for growth. You are surrounded by some of the most enthusiastic and talented people. Perks include free lunch and dinner, great health benefits, nerf guns, flexible schedule, and unlimited time-off (last I was there).

Not very much to say that probably hasn't already been said.  Box's culture is unrivaled, product is amazing, but no training/mentors and nobody really cares if you fail at your job, they'll just replace you after you're placed on an unrealistic improvement plan.

Marketing was a fun department to work in however it is not for the weak.

The company in general is a high paced company that requires you to have the ability to make decisions quickly. If something is not going right or a project requirement changes, you need to have the ability to pivot and changes direction without hesitation.

Promote individuals that are capable of project AND people management and not because the spot is empty and promotion "should" occur. Ensure that management gets proper training and coaching for interpersonal skills, and career planning to help their direct reports feel supported.

Management is approachable and coworkers are friendly, always greeting everyone with smiles. Most enjoyable part of the job is the perks we get.

After a year and a half, I was burned out from non stop working. Having the founding team being so young was very bad for the early years, because the investors put in place archaic management practices. This made it the worst of both worlds.

Most companies have "values".   Normally it's limited to a few bullets in a poster in the break room.   Box is different, it's the first company I've worked at that really upholds its values and as a result breeds a great culture.
