A typical day: Daily and mandatory two hour morning meetings: First part of my day, followed by requests for various other side meetings, which took up more than half of my day. These side meetings stemmed from unresolved topics, originating in the daily mandatory two hour morning meeting that could never be kept on track. Add all of those meetings, to various other tasks that were not in my job description or even part of what I was there to do. What I believe I learned: Pace Holland Life circles gives the illusion (to potential hires, especially those of us in the medical field, looking to make a difference), that their non profit organizations attitudes, beliefs, and treatment of employees are far different than an individual would experience in "For Profit," organizations. Typically most individuals who are Medical professionals, working in "For profit" organizations like hospitals or nursing homes, face understaffing, burnout, and more often than not , individuals can they can feel that their voice isn't heard. In my own experience working for this organization, I found the organizations attitudes, beliefs, and treatment of employees did not align with that representation.  I've worked for "for profit" medical organizations and facilities as a nurse, and 
what I can say, is I would prefer to work for them all day long, than work for a "non Profit" organization such as Holland life circles.  In my experience, I know the expectations and what I'd be walking into working for a "for profit organization.  I might add, that at any other organization I've worked for, there was always 
a  professional HR team who could answer my questions on policy. Unfortunately I did not have this experience at Holland Life circles. The toxic work environment at Holland Life Circles was worse than anywhere I've worked at in my life, where I witnessed bullying.  Employee turnover rate was not good while I was there. I would agree to a previously made comment on another review of Holland life circles, in that the Holland Life circles "travelling" upper management, very much carries the "Kiss the ring," attitude. That for me, is something I also agree with and felt 100 percent. 
Hardest part of the job: Arriving everyday to the facility to work, only to be constantly bogged down by meeting after meeting with other staff members, as a result of daily meetings not being kept on track and other concerns that really did not need a meeting in person or online, to sort through things. Too much time was wasted on things that could have been sent in a memo, for example.  The constant breakdown of every.single.unnecessary and unimportant detail about a situation,  day after day was exhausting. Side meetings were CONSTANTLY already  discussed topics that had to be dragged out to come to a common sense resolution. It honestly felt to me at times there were two many hands in the pot- too many people having a hand in important decision making that had nothing to do with them and there was too much time spent on ego and competetiveness in who knew more in meetings, which led to  more unnecessary work was then added on. The whole peocess was very counterproductive. I did not feel supported by my manager, who managed with micromanaging. I also felt that when decisions with staff in meetings were all agreed on, all of that always carried a possibility to be changed or turned down  by whoever the  "travelling," manager in the Holland location was that day, joining the daily two hour morning meeting.  
Positive: I did enjoy working with the few kind souls who really did want to make a difference as staff members at Holland Lifecircles, (about half of the Daycenter CNA team, and almost all of the Recreation team-phenomenal people who go the mile). Getting to know the participants was also enjoyable. However, after some time, The most enjoyable part? LEAVING FOR GOOD.

A lot of people moved around to different departments, shifts, or buildings but each and every department was full of their own problems. The job itself was my problem. The residents were very mean day in and day out, that was my number one problem and strain on my mental health. I worked here for 4 years and when I started the job was not too bad just dealing with the getting yelled at every single meal. I was basically a waitress during meal hours and then off meal hours you had various tasks to complete which ranged from dishes, next service prep, fulfilling stock orders for the other areas of the building, and cleaning kitchen/dining areas. Many things kept getting added on because it seemed like they could never keep staff or even find new staff to try to hire. After covid hit the staffing only got worse, and without the staff the jobs had to be spread out onto the only ones that were there working. The job could never seem to get done on time, often late out even up to an hour past shift end times. Management was not always present and was often spread out between multiple buildings; or, having to assist with stock issues for the buildings by going to the store and purchasing food items before the next meal service began. We often ran out of food items or didn't have them to begin with and were substituted items instead. This then in turns makes it worse for us already dealing with unhappy residents. A lot of people I worked with were able to make a genuine connection with some of the residents, but for me my experience and the one thing that sticks out the most is how genuinely mean they were and how poorly I was treated. I would by surprised if any of them even knew what my name was. My coworkers were awesome for the most part, the ones that had stuck around for a long time. I was employed from 2017 to 2021 roughly, when it was still UMRC. I would love to say I hear great things and things have changed, but in the end I continue to see people leaving and hearing their bad experiences. Truthfully the only thing I stuck around for was the pay. The insurance was priority health at the time and it was awful, the coverages dropped every year. You couldn't see any specialists at all it was out of pocket if needed for the insurance with copays. The other options were high deductible plans and the deductibles went up every single year. The dental was delta dental and hardly anyone takes it. The retirement was a 403b no match. They did give a christmas bonus  the years I was there but it was entirely dependent on what the residents donated and how many hours you worked in a year.  Most people use these jobs here as a stepping stone, if you need work with decent pay for the area it is worth a shot. Apply at your own risk.

This place preaches that it is a faith based organization but they treat staff terribly. CNAs are treated very poorly. Nurses and management treat us like we are children, they are very condescending and disrespectful. There is absolutely no leadership! Just micromanaging. There’s a lot of favoritism that goes on. If you’re a cna and the nurses/management likes you, then you can get away without completeimg all of
Your task yet others will be left to pick up your slack and get in trouble if it’s not completed. High turn over rate to do extremely heavy workload and poor treatment. Always short staffed! Call ins every day on every shift and they try to mandate to fill gaps in the schedule! They pick  and choose to whom and when the rules apply. I would stay clear away from this place if you’re a cna! The mental and physics stress is not worth it! Compensation is not worth everything that you have to endure mentally and physically during a shift. Many times you go without breaks due to heavy work load and others CNAs do not like to help! There is no team work from other CNAs or nurses. Worst experience I’ve had working as a cna! Many others I’m sure would state the same! Turn over rate extremely high! Management is very poor and fake. No one can be trusted.  Very poor facility to be apart of! I would stay away!

Didn't stay there very long. Fellow CNAs were sort of friendly, but too cliqued up for effective teamwork. Lack of communication in almost all areas. When I was there management seemed to never be available. Too often residents waited longer than hey should have when more than one CNA was needed for care because they were off helping their "friends" and steering clear of newcomers or those disliked. Nurses were either too busy with their heavy workload to help or just refused to. However I really loved how big and beautiful the facility is. I especially loved going to Fireside Grill during my lunch break. Sometimes on one of my breaks I would just walk around the facility to enjoy the beauty of it. The facility itself was my favorite part of working here. I left only because the distance became too much for me. Had I lived a little closer I'd have stuck around. You get bad conditions in most facilities as a CNA. This is one that I could have worked with. With the highest pay, might I add. I've worked with worse short staffing conditions and worse management. They try to make aide to resident ratio pretty fair and doable, despite being short staffed. However I did not like that they mandated

At first I didn’t mind the job. Then it became terrible little to no communication between management, so staff is always doing something wrong. Management has their favorite employees then targets the rest to get them out. Then came up with this dumb idea of households. It doesn’t work stop making it try to work. Residents and staff will abuse the system it happens often. Management will only listen to their favorite employees about things. My manager currently has two friends outside of work that works under them. They only listen to them and forgets the rest of us even exists. I’m so sick of the clique atmosphere here if you don’t fit in you’re targeted out. You get wrote up for every tiny mistake you make even if you didn’t know it was a rule. Which brings me to my next they change rules so often staff is always confused which leads to fights on the floor. I’m always being pulled into the office for things I didn’t even do just about four days a week. I’m getting ready to put in my two weeks this place is literally a joke. 

They will tell you about all the incentives of your job and how caring they are to turn around and treat you horribly if you cant get all your work done in the 16 hours or more you work in a day and the reason you cant get it all done is because at max 3rd shift only will have 3 maybe 4 cnas and a nurse for 20+ residents. Other cnas like to sit around and talk about other cnas and will refuse to help or work in teams some nurses will leave the unit and cnas will have to go find them. Management is just plain out right rude. They will even fire you over the phone that's how professional they are. they will also cut corners when caring for the residents and if you say anything some how the whole unit knows it was you and will be rude to you. This is all at kresge 1&2  ....also if your sick and cant work as no have a doctors note they cant except it because they say it's part of the new contract so you end up getting points. Just save yourself the headache dont even apply stay away and dont bring your family here money is there priority they dont care about staff or residents.

The residents are amazing and serving them was my favorite part of the role! I enjoyed the work, and I was even hoping to make this position my career, however, there were several things that made me feel uncomfortable. While I had multiple amazing coworkers who love the residents, repetitive excuses are made for staff members who do things incorrectly. I also felt unsupported when I brought up concerns and was told to, "keep the peace." Additionally, there was no work-life balance. Common phrases I heard were, "we're a family" and "we live here." Pay would have been great if I only worked 40 hours a week. I was salaried and working over 40 hours nearly every week. You are told to comp time, but are unable to do so due to the work load. To me, the role was not worth the stress, dealing with incompetence, and lack of work-life balance.  

While home care PT turns out to be my dream job, I can see how it would be awful if there was poor organization and little support working in the field. This is NOT the case at Brio. I find my managers to be more like teammates helping to get the job done, often taking over some tasks for me with documentation or making some calls when I’m busier. My team is truly amazing and I am proud to be a part of it. I am paid well and competitively in a market where I know many therapists are underpaid by about 30%. This is not an easy job, but I was trained very well and continue to receive quality and accessible mentorship from clinicians with much more experience if I simply ask. I love continuing to grow and learn while I do what I love and feel valued in the process. Only difficulty is being more hectic while we try to cover each other’s (luxurious amount of) vacation time because we need some people to join our team.

Please save yourself the trouble this company does not care about the employees at all I went threw so much and spent so much money to make sure I got this job and it's not easy I also have to drive an hour away for my physical and drug screen than I was driving back and forth 35 minutes each way every single day to 

complete training thatwas early in the morning then I had to go by a complete new wardrobe because they are very strict I also had to order special color scrubs because we have to wear schocking pink and I was showing up to all my shifts like I was supposed to I was really happy but the day I was supposed to work the floor by myself the company called and fired me because the staff that I reported wasn't doing the job correctly was upset and I was going 2 be working a certain half

If you are a person who tries then don’t bother.  It won’t matter to anyone.  Try to do things for the staff or hold them accountable, don’t bother. They will just get mad one day and tell lies about you to get you in trouble. 
The staff calls in all the time and  12 to 14 hour days will be in your future.  Don’t get excited by the pats on the back from the ones above you because it’s just snakes in the grass there.  You will be told by the upper management that “the staff always lies” when it’s about the staff in-fighting or it’s about the company or another department. But if it’s about you then it’s true.  How much you put into it the place doesn’t make any difference.  The staff rule the place. There were a few shining lights there but you will be beaten down mentally pretty quick.
