This law firm is a great place to come be an attorney or paralegal.  Its strength is its competitive pay and benefits, its excellent work/life balance, and its culture of teamwork.  

As an attorney, I've found the firm to be a great place to grow as a civil litigator.  The firm is a creditors' rights practice, and I've had the opportunity to take the lead at trial, alternative dispute resolution, intense negotiations, and I've even cut my teeth with appellate practice.  I've formed valuable working relationships with attorneys across multiple state bars, and serve as a plaintiffs' attorney for powerful and ubiquitous corporate clients.  

That aside, my favorite part of working for the firm is leadership.  The managing attorneys and partners are supportive, and allowed me to grow as an attorney without throwing me to the wolves.  I truly feel that they want me to succeed.  If you are sick of always sitting second chair in the courtroom and you want to get real experience without feeling overwhelmed, you'll love working here.  The firm will even support you in becoming licensed in multiple jurisdictions, if you so choose!  The job does require some travel for hearings and trials, but the travel is minimal and expenses covered.  I've personally never had to travel overnight for a court hearing, but I understand some attorneys have needed to in the past.  The firm does a great job organizing court attendance.

The hardest part of the job is the volume.  Creditors' rights, especially areas such as collections and foreclosure, are very fast paced and heavily regulated areas of law.  The good news is the firm culture is very work/life balance focused.  I never feel burned out because every case I help resolve feels like an accomplishment.  I'm home for dinner every night, I get accommodation for my child care needs, and I get plenty of vacation time on top of paid days off for federal holidays.  Everyone at the firm has a collaborative attitude; we all help each other as a team and no one attorney "owns" any one case.  I look forward to coming to work in the morning, which I believe is what most attorneys want for their practice.

The firm is great for legal assistants and paralegals as well!  The office culture is the same for both attorneys and non-attorneys working for the firm, we all work together as a team, we all enjoy great benefits, and as a non-attorney you will become very well versed in this area of legal practice.  In fact, a few of the firm's legal assistants enjoyed the job enough they decided to attend law school.  Whether you are an attorney or non-attorney, the job has a lot of potential for personal growth and promotion, as promotions follow responsibilities—not titles or tenure.





  

At my time with this company, it seemed employees in general were not happy with their compensation for the work they achieved, pay freezes never disappeared, and overall the management and HR staff did not function in a way to help the average worker.

When I started there was employee who worked there for 7 years who still made the same as I did starting out. He left the company shortly after.

On a day to day basis each worker is expected to achieve so much and expected to know so much information and for many, expected to handle legal actions but were never given the opertunity to move up, except for only a couple times in my time with the company.

I was interviewed for an opertunity to move up and was told that I was a great candidate that should apply again for such promotion, but after this instance they stopped interviewing for promotions and instead just placed people in the positions as they felt led.

The HR did not handle situations well, and in fact worried me on a day to day basis about handling the psychological part of their job. After hearing things they said, I worried about the safety of the workers there as past and present employees who may have had certain psychological issues causing trouble due to the handling of an issue not being correct. Also HR and managemnt together would have meeting to explain a "new rule" but when confronted about the "new rule" being against company policy they would deny anything or everything said in such meeting. They also would never explain what "excessive" meant as far as taking personal phone calls, bathroom breaks, brief walks outside, or anything non-business related.

The building in which i worked at itself was never cleaned. If i did not dust my workspace it did not get done. One time an employee took down an AC/ heat vent, and found caked on dust and dirt, but nothing was ever done to ratify the issue. Sickness was constantly moving through the office and although employees were encouraged to go home, I felt as though people were afraid to do so.

The one thing that I can say i enjoyed was being able to work at a fast pace and learn about that type of work, but my overall experience there was the worst of any job I have had.

*Ensure thousands of foreclosure files are moving along and create new ideas on how to improve company work flow. 
*Reprojected and completed steps in all of our client systems: LPS, Vendoscape, Real Resolution and Lenstar in order to create satisfactory customer service.
*Address client’s questions or emergencies on any file.
* Made sure that all of our clients SCRA directives were implemented in every department in order to improve our companies scorecards.
* Handled weekly conference calls with our clients to update on files that were of concern.
*Address and complete Citi’s Living Requirement forms before sale. 
*Handle Citi’s and Bank of America Scorecards along with all rebuttals.
*Handle and distribute the Following reports for Citi: Sale Schedule and KPI report, Outstanding Report, Outstanding Legacy Report.
*Complete Bank of America’s Attorney Network Firm Management “ANFM” audits.
* Assist our Sales team on weekend projects in filing Motions to Reset Sales. 
* Manage client escalated status reports by reviewing.
* Complete and maintain Customer Complaint Logs for clients.
* Organize documents/policies/procedures for Client Onsite Audits.  
* Meet with upper management to provide my ideas and suggestions to implement new processes, resolve client issues and create automated reports to improve timelines and efficiency within the foreclosure department.  
*Maintain staff written acknowledgements for trainings completed, for client audit purposes.
* Supervise paralegals on a daily basis.
* Gather positive feedback from staff that will assist upper management and me with improving firm’s processes/reports
* Review and resolve any issues with staff; such as caseload issues, reports, review new client directives, general issues that are preventing files to move towards judgment

This was the worst place I have ever worked. I cried almost every day because of the environment. From my first day, I experienced what felt like bullying and a very cliquish, "mean girl" culture. Part of that bullying came from a member of senior management, which made it especially difficult to feel supported or safe at work.
In my experience, there was clear favoritism. Certain employees seemed to receive endless grace for mistakes and much more flexibility, while others who carried a heavier workload were criticized behind closed doors and regularly worked an additional 5–10 hours each week. 
Employees were moved from team to team, sometimes without much explanation, which created a constant feeling of instability. I went to work every day wondering whether I would lose my job. It never felt like a safe or supportive environment. In my experience, the workplace also had a high amount of turnover. It seemed like nearly every month or even week someone either resigned or was let go, which added to the constant sense of uncertainty.
I also did not feel supported by Human Resources. I reported concerns that I understood had already been brought to their attention, but I felt they were dismissed. From my perspective, the employees engaging in inappropriate behavior were protected, while those raising concerns were scrutinized or ignored. I also tried the anonymous reporting hotline and did not see any meaningful action result from my report.
The pay was low, and it appeared that favored employees received larger bonuses than others.
Based on my personal experience, I would highly recommend not working here. 

Where do I even begin with this joke of a company lol?!? I wasn’t even going to take the time to expose them, but after they couldn’t even deliver my taxes before the January 31st deadline that was it! I didn’t receive my taxes until the end of February which is a joke. My current job had no issue getting me my taxes on time!

Please only consider working for this company unless you’re desperate for a job, or if you’re looking into getting into the law field. People quit often, and they don’t replace employees because they probably can’t find anyone. When someone would quit, your workload would just be given to the current employees.

The micromanagement here is terrible. Multiple people will send you things, multiple people will forward emails because no one wants to do the work. Only work here if you love micromanagement.

Some Managers have the nerve to say “we understand that it’s your PTO, but we have last say if it’s approved or not ”. what a joke

The only people that stay with the firm for a long time are old people lol because they’re too scared to look for another job. Upper management knows this, they just pile the work on the older ladies because they know they won’t complain, it’s very sad. This place is a circus full of clowns!

They will provide donuts and free lunch sometimes to try to show appreciation but more could be done like paying your employees better. Feeding everyone is not working, no wonder the office looks like a ghost town. The only pro here is that you can pick your work schedule.



Brock & Scott (or at least the collections department) has a strong tendency to hire people with little to no legal experience, or even office experience. So those who actually have the education or legal background are not acknowledged or appreciated. After working in the collections department for over a year, I can say that I did not learn a single thing that I could apply to another law firm and honestly, I had a hard time putting the position on my resume and making it sound worthy enough for prospective employers.Also, the collections department is all about production and meeting goals. It is not very exciting work and you will be doing the same exact thing every single day. Also, you are not assigned work with a specific attorney nor do you work one-on-one with an attorney. 

For those who are certified paralegals or have a paralegal degree/certificate, you can do much better!!


List of cons - Do not count on getting a raise (starting pay is not competitive by any means, expect to earn between $11 to $15 an hour), no bonuses, they do not match 401k or have any kind of profit-sharing plan, you only get 6 paid holidays and 11 vacation days with two “floating” holidays (vacation time you can use anytime you like - this is their way to make up for only 6 paid holidays), health insurance leaves a lot to be desired, and the office space is not very attractive.

I have worked for this from over a year now and I can't say anything bad. If you work hard they will go to bat for you. Twice I have had to be hospitalized. First time I was in the hospital for a month and at that time I had not worked for the firm long enough to qualify for the FMLA. Nevertheless, they still held my job for me. Recently I had emergency surgery and was out for 2 weeks again they held my job for me. They are flexible by allowing you to miss work and make up that time on the weekends so you can use your PTO for actual vacations. Every company has room for improvement but I can say this besides the Marine Corps is the best place I have worked for. The managers are great, the attorneys are wonderful (and always have an open door policy, I've even gone to them for personal advice) the HR is compassionate and amazing. I have no complaints and love working at this firm. BTW promotions are based on your work and dependability. I'm not very social and belong to no cliques there yet I was promoted to department lead in less than 4 months of working there because of my hard work, drive and initiative to actually apply for a promotion.

I am responsible for searching 4 counties, but I go wherever I am needed.  I do most searching from my computer at home, but I have to travel to the courthouses to get judgments or to record or do sales.  I have been very happy with my job, and I really like my co-workers, and for that matter, I like all the people I come in contact with.  In the past years, I have worked in hotels, been a bookkeeper for 5 companies at once, and managed a ladies ready to wear shop.  I have also worked at 2 junior colleges. You may ask why I am searching for another job.  The reason is that I lost my husband on December 26, 2013, and I need to move to another location to try and move on.  My daughter lives in Newport, and I have leased an apartment in her back yard.  I am looking forward to the move.  I am moving slowly, but plan to be there full time very shortly; in the next couple of weeks.

This review dates back a few years so the firm may have since resolved these issues so this review may be antiquated.  I was hired by this firm as an associate attorney after a brief stint with a much smaller firm.  The hours were long, as expected, but the work was well structured and the pay was competitive.  However, I did not perceive a willingness of the firm to assist in advancing my professional development.  I was selected for one area of practice (which it trained well) but was not permitted to work in all aspects of the field as I had often requested.  I wanted to expand my knowledge and experience but instead was treated as if the firm was holding onto secrets and that I was a competitor.  I was content at the time with what I was assigned to but the relationship with the firm quickly soured when I questioned a superior about a specific procedure that I was not comfortable with.  Shortly thereafter, my employment was terminated with no severance pay.

Brock & Scott, PLLC is not a good place to work if you are a worker. To be more specific, there are so managers who do not produce anything except reports that tell other people what to do. Therefore, there is never money for raises because all of the profits are sucked out of the company by non-producing managers.Moreover, in my individual experience, I did everything that was expected of me and more on two separate occasions, however I was laid off because they claimed they did not have enough business. The truth is that they were getting plenty of business, they just were not profiting from that business because of the bureaucratic nature of the business model. I truly enjoyed working with my colleagues and the strength of the company is in the WORKERS, however management is entrenched and it appears that their sole goal is save their own jobs, at the expense of the workers.
