Keep on looking. After Covid, CAMC began a massive overhaul as they started to buy up any and every medical facility within reach. The Patient Accounts directors and assistant directors are cold and have virtually no relationship with coworkers, and little understanding of how things work beyond their offices. The culture is terrible and directors and management don’t do anything to give employees better work environment quality. No amount of work is satisfactory and I can say the $4.78 cents I’ve gotten in raises over seven years is barely worth putting any effort into the job because everyone gets the same pathetic 3% raise across the board. Not to mention they think adequate compensation for bringing in millions of dollars to this sorty health system is cake and ice cream. Unless you know someone, you’re not getting promoted. Essentially you’ll be working for people who think they have dominion over you. For the frustration, the pathetic benefits and pay, it’s not worth your time.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I learned A lot of things in a little amount of time that I didn’t know that I was capable of doing and I was really good at it I learn how to verify insurances on the New Jersey website that was cool and I just met a whole bunch of beautiful wonderful people, from the staff and also the community🫶🏽

Dealing with other employees personalities and still doing your job the best of your ability

The work environment it’s always gonna be amazing if you make it if you have a people personality you understand personalities and it’s easy for you to adapt now the culture of the company was amazing Helping the minorities the mental health patients and many more is amazing to be able to help people who don’t have insurance and also people who do

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
being positive happy and a People person I love meeting and seeing people for my community

The atmosphere can be very toxic unless you are one of the click.  It seems you have to be a certain age ( 20’s)  or have years of experience to get any respect and then if you have experience and dare to be on the slower side you are ridiculed by fellow employees.  Employees are very callous towards each other.  Their is no sense of team.  Management is clueless about how to get a group of people to work together well which creates a stressful and chaotic atmosphere.  Someone is always talking about and complaining about another co-worker.  Upper management blames the nurses for problems created by poor managers and management practices.   Nurses take out their frustrations on each other while being clueless about toxicity and their own words and behaviors.  Doctors don’t respect the nurses.  The company as a whole does not treat their nurses well but pretends that it does.  

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nice convenience store in building for employees. Great PTO.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
High volume inbound calls and a lot to memorize to do the job correctly. Nurses and patients can be impatient or rude.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
No room for advancement, pay is laughable, and management isn’t very helpful. You’re trained by other schedulers who aren’t always very knowledgeable either. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
80+ inbound scheduling calls with little breathing room. You do more insurance verification than you’d think. Insurance verification works in the same building but they’re always swamped and registration rarely puts info in correctly. Nurses will call to schedule upwards of 30 patients at once.

This company is fine if you are looking for nursing, CNA or med and lab work. So, I am not really speaking against CAMC completely but stay away from the housekeeping department. It is a very toxic work environment, I won't go into detail, but you will see a lot of red flags with the management and their favoritism over a certain shift and certain housekeepers even though they deny it. They will even go through big lengths of getting into your personal business by having another worker do it for them and tell every one's business to, well everyone. Just stay away and look elsewhere. Also, they will try to ruin your chances of transferring out if they do not like you for any reason.

 if you're over 40, don't work here. They allow 20somethings with all of one year under their belt to run a floor or unit and belittle the remaining staff. They all drink together on their days off, so they cherry pick the best assignments for their 20something friends and don't rotate the assignments like they are supposed to do. If you have critical care skills and are older, don't look to use those skills here. You'll be shuffled to medsurg assignments or mental health. Management ignores the issues. But if you speak up, the young ones run and accuse you of hurting their feelings. Also, if you speak up, management retaliates. This hospital system is the quintessential nepotistic and ageist environment.

Good fellow workers. The issue was with the  company  culture

Too many non respiratory therapy duties that get in the way of properly providing  timely care to the patients .

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
CAMC has no respect for the respiratory therapist that work there. Overloading the therapist, no support from corporate for professional development, and poor management running the respiratory program. Lower pay than every surrounding states.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Rushing to try to cover too many patients, management  always changing expectations.

What is the best part of working at the company?
For the most part co-workers, the ones in the trenches with you, are the best and only good part of this company. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with management and trying to get anyone in administration to help you deal real issues is the most stressful part of this company.

The culture at this company will crush your soul. When your goal is to provide quality care and the company refuses to help you achieve this goal, you feel helpless and like you have no hope.

Used, abused, rode hard and hung up wet.

Great team work and customer service.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I would say sometimes there was to much work and customers to manage at the same  time but with patience and a lot of strategies talking to people I was able to manage.

The environment and culture was very much appreciated when coworkers were able to help each other when someone need it and customers on a day to day bases .

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Every day come to work on a positive attitude and Willing to go through the day in a professional manner.

Was a pharmacy tech III for several years before giving up on this job. My manager was a great guy, but he had no support from his bosses and constantly had extra work thrown on him. He was unable to properly manage his department because he was having to do the work of multiple people that didn't want to do their jobs. As such our department degraded and we became a revilving door of new hires that didn't really want to work. Those of us who actually did our jobs got tired and left. This is a regular occurrence at CAMC because they don't really care about their employees or patients.
