You get different answers from each person you ask a question. Then when consequences come from you being told the wrong thing, they expect you to already know all the policies and procedures that they do not educate you on. They also do not look into educating those who have given the wrong information, and they do not look into situations that were wrongly evaluated. Which continues the stream of miscommunication. They give higher positions to people that are not well trained and answer questions incorrectly with confidence. Even management has not been trained well when already given the position, rather than obtaining a well trained candidate. Management often tells you to go against policies and do what ever they tell you, even if you know its wrong. The computer systems were also very terrible. You are expected to stay on the phones for a certain amount of time through out the day, but when you have computer issues, it clearly isn't that easy. They did not train us in fixing any technical issues, yet when we had them, they would tell us to clear cashe & cookies and when that didn't work they did not try to fix them and expect you to just be able to fix it and deal with it AND remain on the phone for the expected amount of time. When you fall below that time frame (even if you document the time your computer was having problems), they don't take that into consideration, they automatically write you up. Another issue is poor communication. Specifically in training the trainer told us there was no mandatory overtime. Well 2 months in they start giving us an extra 21 hours extra time we had to obtain. That time they gave us notice. After that month they wouldn't give us notice, even though quite a few people asked. They would come up randomly one morning and say 'mandatory overtime of 1 hour per day, you can work through your break and have a full 9 hour shift, or you can stay an hour late' and if you have kids, or other priorities that you have to attend to then you will get written up. Even though all most people asked for was a little notice. Just all together a company nobody should have to work for. They clearly don't care about you, and will continue to have open interviews considering the staff has completely depleted.

The management is incompetent, they treat you like you should feel privileged to be a part of such a terrible lackluster company that doesn't follow through on promises and has a serious lack of communication and money management skills. The Verizon 1st party position was as any collections call center position except a much higher call volume, a 9 hour work day, and a management group that has absolutely no idea how to coach or lead a group in the right direction to achieve. The QA team is inconsistent to where when the actual client being Verizon says a call is one way they say a call is another and QA pass percentages are the worst in the country but the QA staff has done nothing to fix that instead believes that it is the fault of the large number of employees who fail. There is no organization, promotions are based off who you know and not in any way what you know. The company is a means to an end, they say they turn away many applicants but there are a large number of fellow coworkers that should not be let out of their homes let alone talk to customers all day. They promised attendance bonus, that was gone in month two, they promised promotion opportunities, they reduced the pay of their entire escalations staff and let go of one of the only competent supervisors they had. They changed the shift differential bonus to benefit their company and not their employee. CBE is a collection agency at its finest with some of the worst management and decision making top down I have ever experienced with any company in my life. If you don't value yourself, your time, you have no desire to move up, and have no problem not talking to your supervisor or never knowing where they even are for most of your shift this is the job for you. Be careful the training is misleading, the trainer is wonderful if you get the female she is a great leader and believes that things are great but they will lie to your face directly and back it up with excuses that make no sense because even some of management is clueless as to what is going on. DO NOT WORK HERE.

I worked there for nearly 10 years, when I say nearly, it is single digits to the time for 10 years, more specifically, 4 more days. I started off in Dish/Direct TV when Satellite was still a department. Then they got the ED contract, because of my previous experience with background checks I was hired as one of few skiptracers. I worked as a skiptracer for a few years and at one point was one of TWO in the entire company.  

I then moved to AR and processed incarcerations and then deaths. I helped the death department be more efficient and explored better ways to acquire results which greatly improved our numbers. 

I tried five times to get into IT and eventually got in. I learned alot in IT including how to treat people better, which was hard for me. But it was invaluable. I worked hard on Help Desk and commandeered many projects that others did not want. I always was available even on my day off to help those who needed it. I frequently worked weekends as I was going to school during the week which I thanked CBE for.

CBE's culture has gradually gotten VERY HOSTILE and people there are such weak souls. Constant tattling, the ED department has a major problem with employee virility, I know of at least 3 different cases. 

I loved working at CBE but i was fooling myself and my wife kept asking me to leave but I wouldnt. I was called into an office one day and fired, very heartless, the director of IT offered to help but lied and would not respond to me after I was let go. THey fired me due to performance issues but I had no warnings or writeups at the time. The manager then tried to use me for help after I was fired. I knew ALOT of people there and I found out a year or so after I was so called fired that I was actually laid off, and it was planned, I was on a list of 24 people. This is probably why I couldn't get a straight answer as to my departure on the night of.

Do not work at CBE, save yourself the pain. It still breaks my heart to think about how much I loved the place even though I was treated like dirt. Not providing my actual time worked....

A typical day at CBE as a Collections Representative involves assisting customers in a fast paced environment through both inbound and outbound calls. You are free to take the time necessary to assist a customer with billing questions and setting up payment plans, however you may only help a customer on the call and do not have a way to call back if needed or assist after a call is done. I learned how to handle frustrated and angry customers and how to help those customers work towards the goal of getting the debt paid before it is reported to their credit. Management was very involved in trying to connect with myself and my coworkers and also in helping us to improve. Although it was a very competitive environment, there was very little friction between coworkers and many of us were very supportive of each other both in and out of work. The hardest part of the job was handling the stress of being a debt collector; almost every customer was frustrated or upset at receiving our calls and you would put in all of your effort and exhaust every available option and still end up with no payment plan which then affects your performance ratings. The most enjoyable part of the job was knowing that my management cared about my emotional and job needs.

The hiring process was so fast that it should raise a red flag. Attrition rate was through the roof, higher than an average Call Center.

I had multiple SMEs that have left in a short amount of time. Management seemed snobbish about the position they are in.

I had an all-of-sudden dual specialization in skill. I was working through multiple departments without even being told I got duties in multiple departments. Some communication there would have been nice since I didn’t even get training, or notice by management, my supervisor, or SMEs, not even the one on my team, or anything at all beforehand! My wage even remained the same and there was nothing to compensate for the increased workload. No recognition from anyone when it was found out I dual-specialized by the client.

It was very stressful especially through the holidays. I didn’t even get a single break, just a 30 minute lunch for the entire day, every day.

If you miss any days or time, they give you the opportunity to ‘make up’ those lost hours. Atmosphere was very workaholic as everyone at least had several overtime hours in.

Training is useless  you are sent to the “floor” to work with so called floor support - which is multiple people who provided different dirction.  Managers who don’t know how to manage and only claim their experience at CBE and supposed great opportunities for advancement .  Definitely a strange culture with employees dating each other, including different levels of management and supervisor .  
What they say “ don’t worry., you will get the help you need,they claim to understand that there  will be a learning curb , but in reality you will be measured by metrics . Might as well be a machine . As a person you are not valued - you are just a machine trying to get through enough calls to meet their expectations !! They attempt to bring testimonials a handful of people who advanced in the company but fail to show or state the extremely high number of people who leave.  There were more people who left the training class then people who alerted introduced from the company who advanced .  I would never recommend this job unless you were desperate and in absolute need of a job

This would be an excellent place to work if the other departments that you have to deal with actually did their jobs, but they don't, and it makes this a much more difficult position. There was a lot of drama in my experience, but it was only with 2 people, and it was partly my own doing by breaking the golden rule of the workplace. Overall I had a positive experience with nearly every member of management & my direct supervisors were amazing. I would recommend this company as an excellent way to move through the ranks of a good call center, but don't let the other departments' ineptitude impede your progress & definitely don't get involved with any of the dozens upon dozens of beautiful women there. They might look nice & sweet on the outside but if they're at that job for any length of time, it means they're good enough for the company to keep around & as such every single one of them thinks they're Sherlock Holmes.

I was a fraud analyst in TX. The only truly good thing I can say about my experience there is that I did enjoy the actual work and the flexibility of working from home. Beyond that, not so great. In TX there is almost NO chance of advancing unless you're ready to move to one of their physical locations. The training was almost non-existent. The systems were horrible and they didn't want to pay the employees for down time when they left you unable to take calls. When this happened they would blame your systems and ISP even though it was obviously happening across the centers. They require you to log out and then make you make up the time you missed because they don't want to spend money on technology. Don't count on your schedule or your pay. They do offer benefits and the employees and some supervisors were great to work with. 

this job is so sneaky, that they decrease your pay without telling you. Management talks to you like they are better and above you. And in the same breath they talk down to you like you don't even matter. They claim to be a paperless company. So you can't print your pay checks, benefits or anything that matters. Here's a question. Why can't you see your numbers from the beginning of the month all the way to the end of the month? You have to keep your own personal log or you can/will lose your money. Everyone is supposed to be on the dialer right. Nope. Some are special and work manually and take the inbound calls for the customers that just want to call in and pay the balance. There isn't enough room or time for me to describe why you would be a fool to believe anything they tell you. If you have already spoke to them. Then they lied about something, you just don't know it yet.They give you a 10 page book on how polite you must be to the customer or you will lose a % of your bonus. But they just about call you stupid to your face if you have a question about something.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The experience on the phones can be pretty fun .. and if you are seated between a ok bunch of people work can be fun 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Access to assistance, there are teams there to help but sometimes there are few available at a time and too many agents needing help. Most times I end up figuring out on my own eventually.. your supervisor won’t help especially ones that believe there above helping.. and some of the team captains rather walk around and make conversations than help

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not a bad place if you need a job to start off with.. my issue is they sell the story that there are equal opportunities for all races and creed but the truth is they gate keep and the select oftentimes people of particular races to be leaders .. if your supervisor doesn’t like you they will stunt your ability to move up.. really not a bad place just not entirely fair towards all people in terms of growth
