The workload for adjusters was completely unreasonable, especially if someone either left the company or went on leave. That often meant shifting an entire desk onto someone else for no extra compensation (not even a one-time bonus) whatsoever. At some point, I had over two-hundred claims because I was covering for a desk and another adjuster on the same account as me never answered phone calls.

There was one client in particular. I'd complain to my supervisor all the time at first because this client kept me on the phone for literal hours. Lest you dodge that call to recollect yourself for ten minutes prior to returning the call because that client would then go to the account manager. I was always hoping they would do something about that client, but nothing came of my complaints, and I eventually gave up complaining. Then, the audacity to tell me that I may be put on a PIP because my audit score was barely passing that year? Management ceased to have my back, which was disappointing.

It was a nice place to start my adjuster career; I won't ever deny that. They paid for me to get an adjuster license, including the study materials for the exam and CEU courses to maintain the license thereafter. They also paid mileage and the fees for me to go to seminars. We usually got freebie half days prior to a holiday. We had bonuses until covid put a stop to that. I miss the vendors, especially the ones who brought free lunches. I'm appreciative of the training I received through the company and the various promotions I got in the years with CCMSI. While this may depend on the individual supervisor, my supervisor was very lenient with time off and leaving an hour early for an appointment, etc.

But after five years and pay raises that barely kept up with inflation (meaning I essentially had no real increase in pay) and increasing workloads thanks to the covid shutdown, reminding myself of any upsides was starting to border on Stockholm syndrome.

A typical day at work, you’re stressed the second you sign on! The work load is absolutely ridiculous and management expects you to be a magician or a robot. There is zero over time pay…ZERO! You won’t be told you have to work late or extra hours but it will be hinted toward mostly in an email threatening certain consequences if for example you have more than 100 documents by September 1, you’re going to get written up….how about incentives not threats especially when we are already overwhelmed with high claim numbers and counting!  Management doesn’t really ever know what they’re doing, they all have a different answer to the same question and no one is really ever on the same page with anything. Hardest part  of the job is knowing you’re on a sinking ship and there is no life vest! Most enjoyable part aside from going home at the end of the day, is the time off. The company does offer a very nice amount of time off BUT it’s a catch 22 because if you take it you will regret it as soon as you come back! Out 1 day sets you back 3…not cool at all. 

As a new claims clerk I expected so much more from this company, especially the one in Lisle IL. Training was terrible. The other claims clerks that taught me are not at fault because the supervisors and managers rushed them before I was employed so they were still learning 3 months into their employment. Supervisors and managers tell you how much work is expected to be done and even when you finish that work and a little bit more, you’ll still get in trouble and talked down to. The micromanaging is brutal. The many times I’d be doing my work and a supervisor would constantly nitpick about what I was doing. It’s almost like you had to learn about each supervisor and manager quirk for them to be almost happy, but that quirk would change almost every week! Supervisors loved using passive aggressive comments towards your work and the manager that I worked with would talk to you like you’re stupid if you had a question or concern. I see they’re still hiring and that’s not a surprise. Their hiring process is like a revolving door. 

*  Cover phones until receptionist started 
*  Set up all new claims & assign to Adjusters
*  Send out all initial paperwork to injured workers, Employers,           Physicians and attorney's on all new claims.
* Open all incoming mail, stamp & confirm claim number, separate Rush mail and Legal mail from bills 
* Pass out "Rush/Legal" mail & faxes to adjusters
* Separate mail for scanning
* Take calls for my adjusters
* Make calls to physicians for medical status updates
* Send out notices your adjuster instructs you to
* Cover phones for receptionist lunch/breaks
* Used EAMS for all State requirements/settlements
* Returned checks if unable to locate correct address or if a duplicate payment find in system return check to home office with request slip to credit the file
* Subpoena's
* E-mail with tasks that need to be done

Hardest part of the job was trying to keep all accounts current as we were not allowed to work overtime & we were VERY under staffed. 

Most enjoyable part of the job was my co-workers. Everyone was very fun & friendly. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
They let you know you’re needed and appreciated every day.  A very laid back environment even though the it’s a fast paced and handling very important confidential information. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Very detailed.  You’re handling very confidential information including medical and legal documents.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The office I worked at as a temp was very casual, yet extremely organized.  The General Manager makes a point of speaking to each employee.  A very positive environment.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Go into work, in the position I worked as a temp every day was a little different.  I supported adjusters and did many administrative duties as well as, receptionist duties.  Setup workcomp claims, pulled files for law suits and organized them to be sent to law firms.

Now I know what makes a company a great place to work because I’m part of an organization that has been recognized for two consecutive years as one of the “Best Places To Work” in nationwide. 

Having a job that I love and working for a great company inspired me to figure out what makes a company a great place to work. After doing some research and speaking to various employees of companies that were recipients of the “Best Places To Work” awards, four elements came up repeatedly. 

A strong supportive culture.
Professional growth is a priority.
Liking the people you work with.
Work that is challenging and requires you to grow.
Wonderful management team in the Bellaire, Texas office.

Show up and have to check emails and voicemail. Look for claims to set up. Check if you need to work or read from your internship book. Check with you manager to see what is needed for the day. Set up claims, call people to do statements or calling for more information on the claim. I learned that working claims is not for everyone. You hear a lot of stories and it's hard to trust people working in that job. Management can be strict but they only want the best for you and are easy to go and ask questions for. Hardest part was trying to meet deadlines and not getting full cooperation from people can cause a lot of stress. Best part was the people I worked with. They made the job a lot more fun and were down to earth group and wanted the best for everyone.

We are micromanaged to the point of our emails and call logs being checked. Upper management plays favorites and its disgustingly obvious. Upper management is made up of pure nepotism and its sad really. They're spiteful and care more about flexing their power than anything else. Turn over is ridiculous, the few of us who are trying to "tough it out" are picking up the major slack with no appreciation or reward for it. I have some awesome coworkers though, only good thing I can say at this point. Complaints to HR seem to fall on deaf ears and following the chain of command leads to retaliation. Your options are deal with it and hope you're liked or find a new job.  

The company overall is good however the leadership team is awful and bias; they need leadership training in a hurry to stop the high turnover rate. 
a lot of friends and family member and if you not apart of the circle you will get left behind. The pay is not enough for the amount of work for the position 
Corporate really needs to come in and do an assessment because the vision/mission of the company is getting tainted by the poor managing.

To anyone looking for a long term job
This is not the place you will find yourself looking for another job after your 90 days maybe before but don't waste your time just keep looking. Warning...this is not the place for you.

There is a reason people keep seeing the same job posting over and over in the Phoenix and Scottsdale,AZ. offices. Unless you are in your 20-30's you will not fit in with the rest of the employees. They will ignore you. The supervisors will give you limited training and when you make a mistake,  they will not show you how to correct it yourself. They do not counsel you or help you to learn from your errors.  Instead they make up an excuse and fire you. They are condescending and biased. Save yourself the hassle. This company is not a good company.  They do not adhere to their mission statement.  They treat people badly.
