This place is awful. They are very disorganized. During my interview process, I had to send my credentials to three different individuals because every time I send it they will lose it or misplaced it. Considering these personal information you could think they could be more organized with it. Secondly once you get hired. There are cameras everywhere in place which I understand is for the safety of the kids but the bosses watch staff on those everyday and if you are caught during something they don’t like they will call you out on it. So you have to be working looking over you shoulder, who wants to work in sich an environment. Another thing that I dislike is that 30 minutes before you shift starts but you won’t get paid for it. Their break is 30 minutes. You wouldn’t leave the building and it will be almost time for you to come back. Staff doesn’t last long at this establishment, there’s a lot of reason. They have a ridiculous dress code that say you shouldn’t wear jeans and sportwears but you are allowed to wear sports sneaker, considering this job requires you to get down and restrain clients from time to time, you could think they will have a dress code that’s much more relaxed. Another policy is if a individual calls out, which happens more time than not, you are mandated to stay. Imagine if you have a child or have another job. Overall this place needs a complete overhaul.


Worked at this company for less than 3 months, staff are treated unfairly, co-workers are somewhat friendly, however, there are those who are not, and some are lazy. Clients are difficult to deal with at times due to lack of consequences or the ineffectiveness of the consequences. Have to deal with being threatened by residents and family members. Supervisors and managers are not fair in the way they handle things. Clearances fort the FBI can take, for some, several months if not longer; without FBI clearances you can't be left alone with youth, and this causes problems for you if the other staff are occupied. 
Really bad company and like the other person stated can get an asterisk next to you name on the schedule and you will be doing a double without even knowing if the other person will show or not for their shift. NO PTO unless you have worked for years at this company... 
This company also requires a BA level degree for work that only requires a HS diploma and granted some college coursework in the the social science fields, but, it is a waste of any bachelor's degree.
Speaking of which, many person who work here have degrees in unrelated field work, unlike some with degrees in social work, psychology and the likes.

Center for Family Guidance is overall a pretty good company.  I have worked in residentials before, but they are definitely the best one.  Their recreation department does an outstanding job of giving the kids something to work for with behavioral incentives.  In my role as a Behavioral Care Specialist, I have had many opportunities to connect with the youth and counsel them through difficult situations, as well as laugh with them and get to know their great personalities.  There are challenging behaviors here, but it is more than worth it.  I can honestly say I truly enjoy my job.  Sometimes coworkers may have a poor attitude, but the kids are awesome! CFG's compensation is pretty good compared to other residentials, and overtime is easy to find if you want it.  Healthcare is pretty good and affordable for a yourself, but can get pricey for family members.  CFG also does attendance bonuses for staff who don't call out every six months.  We do therapeutic holds in these programs, so that may be required at times.  I'm very happy with my experience at CFG, but a bit better pay would be nice, and I wish family health benefits were more affordable.  The kids are fantastic, and they definitely make this a great job to be in.

Benefits are excellent, the health insurance compared to others is great. The setting is corrections so be expected to not have your cellphone or any devices. The workplace culture is toxic, hostile and lot of bullying and harassment which is allowed. Management flip-flops a lot, not the  confidential type especially for a setting like corrections, so if there is anything that you deem personal and doesn't want your coworkers or custody knowing about, then I would suggest not sharing with management. There is no room for growth as its the same persons getting recognized over and over. A typical day is walking in thinking will I be terminated today because I don't gossip with the others or bully new staff? Staff sets up custody against you, which makes it hard to do your job and they micromanage you and will be quick to report you to management if its not done the way they think it should be done even if that way is outside your scope of practice or outside of what custody allows. You can learn working in this setting but its hard to if you have to deal with hostility, toxicity, bullying and harassment daily.

The culture at this CFG Partial Hospitalization program at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton is hostile and unprofessional. Management is inept and further promotes this unethical work 
environment through favoritism toward some and blatant disrespect toward others. There is very little, if any, actual treatment going on here, which makes it obvious why private insurance is not accepted. Medications are forced on patients before any behavioral interventions are attempted. If families do not consent, the patient is promptly discharged, Patients otherwise are kept for the longest possible length of stay regardless of clinical appropriateness. Staff are not provided ANY breaks and complaints are met with retaliation. The corporate office is unresponsive to concerns and clearly making great financial gain by defrauding the Medicaid system. If you can put your own professional ethics aside and don your rose colored glasses before entering, this is the place for you.

Some of the youth are difficult and challenging to manage daily, however it makes every day new, unpredictable, and keeps you on your toes where you are not only teaching them something but some days you even learn something new about yourself. Some days we laugh, and some days are super serious and we are just battling to get through. Still, at the end of the day all the staff support each other, management and clinicians are in the midst of it with us together, we teach the youth something new for life and about themselves, and oftentimes learn something about ourselves in the process. It can be very fulfilling, especially when you build that special bond with some of the youth and you hear back from them once they've moved on. They are 24/7 so sometimes you might be mandated to stay a shift for ratio/staffing purposes to ensure support of the youth, but you know ahead of time which days you might need to stay. Benefits are decent and tuition reimbursement is available.  Pay has increased over the past couple of years and is pretty competitive within the field.

Being employed here was only tolerable because of the relationships with the coworkers and the love for the kids. The management does not care about your health or mental health as much as they may say they do. Don't get sick randomly because you will pay for it. You will see favoritism and if you aren’t okay with that, I suggest you move on. Taking care of the kids is great, but it can be hard to show up for them properly when you are not being cared for properly by management. There will be people who rather see you fail and kicked down than helping you out or having your back if you need it. The pay is bottom tier for the work we must to do here and the things we take on from every aspect. You will make wonderful relationships with coworkers and may leave with a few friendships from it. I did learn a lot from here and I know what to do better moving on, but I also know what not to tolerate from anyone. 

I sincerely liked my job and the people around me until management punished me continously for any concern I had and I witnessed them do the same to others.
They treat you like just a cog in the machine. Everyone is replaceable. It's so cut throat you can't trust anyone. I have never witnessed in my life nurses going after each other the way they do here or the support staff. 
You have no protection. No union. No support. Management is so unorganized that most of the time they have no idea what they're doing and are frantically running around barking orders and taking frustration out on anyone who breathes wrong.
I worked for an entire month before anyone told me that lunch was unpaid and the shift was actually 8.5 hours. I was actually reprimanded for it as well even though it was entirely not Mt fault. That's just one of many many things.....

Good job enviornment with a very competitive salary and likable co-workers.  This is a up and coming company in the behavioral health care field with allot of career opportunities.   The population is very difficult to assess and work with but CFG offers an array of options for a very accute census.  The administration is very knowledgeable and attempt to make their employees feel valued and needed.  Direct care staff are mandated on occasion but the schedule is posted 2 weekss in advance.  Otherwise I would highly recommend this company to any potential employee from direct care to LSW to APN.  This company has treated me with respect and and really helps their employees feel needed.  The work can be hard at times but there will be days you feel like your getting paid to have fun.  

If you're looking for a Healthcare organization that is professional, organized and has good leadership management keep looking. When I initially was hired, I was excited at the prospect of moving up and gaining a new experience. However, after a few months, true colors began to show and the culture was unhealthy. 

If you want micromanaging and a company that only sees you as a number to help reach their unrealistic goals and unreasonable expectations, then good luck to you. If you have physical health or mental health issues, don't even bother because these people don't care. 

Underpaid, over-worked and under-appreciated. I am not even using them as a reference. In all my years, this has been the worst experience and I'm disgraced to have even worked for a company that is tied to behavioral health.
