What is the best part of working at the company?
I met wonderful people working for CRMC, but the company is lacking in terms of pay, growth opportunities, and innovation in comparison to the other hospital system in the area

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The organization attempts to stretch and get the most (in many cases too much) from everyone and everything. This results in lack of resources needed to be effective and management overworking personnel.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic. The doctors for the most part are decent but the are allowed to talk to staff any way they please with no consequence. When their behavior is reported to management nothing is done. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Good days are ok and bad days are terriable. You learn to keep your expectations low when working for CRMC. You can expect to be asked to complete tasks beyond your job description without adequate resources or knowledge

This company pays well but that’s where it ends. The Home and supportive care unit that cover home health and hospice is a complete mess. Although the clinical staff are amazing and hard working, leadership including the director and management don’t value employees or patients and seem to only be focused on the bottom dollar. Patient care is often delayed and supplies are lacking in order to make sure everything is financially advantageous to the company. While nurses hours are cut and nurses are forced to take on higher patient loads to save money, leadership got all new office furniture. 

It's not easy to work in healthcare.  Like any hospital, we have our struggles in order to meet the demands of the community.  Overall, the people are great to work and they work hard.  Our leaders are dedicated and you will find that many of them also work in staffing or do their best to support their staff.  
The hardest part of the job is that there are not enough.  We still need to fill the nursing vacancies.  There are not enough nurses that are applying. There are not enough enrolling and graduating to meet the demands.  


When I first started working there, the environment was friendly and autonomy flourished!  Management changed and so did the level of respect for specialty skills and years of experience and constantly short-staffed with more and more expected.   I left because I didn't feel respected or appreciated.  If you like to be micromanaged, you'll fit in just fine.

I can honestly say after many years in management this organization has been the easiest to work with.  I have an amazing staff that does not require babysitting, just minor oversight.  Directors are always available to help, not as many hoops to jump through to accomplish a “corporate” task. I can even reach the VP and other executive leadership by sending a text! That would never happen at larger institutions in our area. 

Concerns raised by care partners are often overlooked or not meaningfully addressed by management. Communication from the manager can feel abrupt and ineffective, which makes it difficult to have productive conversations about workplace issues. There also appears to be a lack of clear boundary between personal stress and professional responsibilities, which impacts the overall work environment.

a typical work day is dysfunctional and no one is held accountable for results.
I have learned a place constantly hiring is a red flag.
Management is clueless, entitled and stuck in 1995.
TOXIC workplace culture.
Hardest part of job: showing up 5 days a week.
The most enjoyable part of the job is a paid holiday resulting in a 4 day work week and a 3 day weekend.

The salary was appropriate for the area.

Poor management and leadership.

Toxic work environment / cliquey depending on the department. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful with little management support.

Good place to work but culture remains stagnant.  Good-old-boy network. If you’re not part of the group you’ll never advance.  Many great nurses have left and are leaving. Most staff are great and loyal employees. 

Good staff go to Sentara or doctor offices for better pay. Qualified new applicants offered very low pay. Low work ethic is cultural norm & protected.
