It really wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t like the best job in the world. Clientele can be kinda snooty imo so it makes it kind of uncomfortable sometimes. Management was really cool, I just kinda felt isolated from the rest of the staff (I know why, it’s a reason I often feel isolated from co workers at every job I go to, it can’t be helped). hated the bathrooms though, dear god. They were clean just,,,, awkward. It was a single stall, in a room. So only one person could go in and use the actual restroom at a time, but other people could go in, but just to stand and wait it’s not like there were any other open stalls or anything. Lol, kinda random thing to rate a job on, but I’m shy and it was stressful for me whenever I had to go!!

A typical day at work was always very busy. My brother owns the company and I worked with quite a few family members at the Corporate Office. A few of my sisters and myself are partners with my brother so I am part owner of one of the Restaurants. The Restaurants are self-managed which means I don't spend much time at the place of business. My position was temporary at the Corporate Office as my sister was out on Maternity leave. I took a lot of pride in my work and being an owner of the company, I seemed to always be at the office putting in extra hours to resolve any issues or repairs that had to be done at one of the Restaurants and I enjoyed every moment of it..

When I would open the store everyone I would give out task for the FOH and right them on our communication bored. The HOH would also be assigned there stations. One of the things I felt was good when opening was everyone got to work right away and I could depend on the employees to get the job done while I was handling the more administrative parts of opening. I think the hardest part of the job was trying our best to keep customers happy as well as making sur the company is not always loosing out. So I would come up with ways to avoid all of those situations.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Awesome management. Great co workers, and the food is the best!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I haven't found anything to be stressful about the job, yet.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's just great, everyone is really nice and helpful. They actually work as a team to get tasks done, and to make our customers happy. Also my work is really appreciated there.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I love working in the mornings, opening up the restaurant is the best part for me. Setting up and preparing the front of the house for guests.

Coming to work was sometimes a bit much to handle if things were not correctly organized. The management, at the time, was poorly organized, which made it stressful sometimes. My co-workers were helpful for the most part.  One of the hardest parts about the job was trying to be everywhere at once. There were always things to do, whether it was my job or not. I always made sure things were done properly and at the correct time. The most enjoyable part about my job was garnishing plates and seeing people's faces when I would serve them their food. The food was always super healthy and appealing.

California Fish Grill offers a solid work-life balance, which is a major plus for employees looking for flexible scheduling and time outside of work. However, my overall experience was mixed due to some internal issues that impacted the work environment.

There is a noticeable amount of micromanaging, and the company places a strong emphasis on profit — sometimes at the expense of employee morale. The workplace culture can become toxic, especially depending on your title and whether you’re viewed as a “compliant” employee. This dynamic can make it difficult to feel fully supported or valued in certain roles.

Working at CFG was a great experience for the future. Although the work environment was always welcoming and positive, unfortunately the language barrier made daily duties very challenging. Not only did the chefs only speak spanish only but they also did not understand a word of English. This made for misatkes and confusion. To make matters worse when i began working here the general manager only spoke spanish! As a white non spanish speaking employee it became extreamly hard to do any basic task due to the fact i did not understand my instructions

I use to work for California fish grill and the company was the worst all they ever did was complain about our work and say we weren’t doing enough. when it came down to the holidays we were always short staffed. when we had to call out because we felt un well they were selfish about it an never put our health first.
They would constantly change the schedule without notifying us and just overall make us feel bad I was super unhappy in my work environment.  Management was the complete worst

A great working environment. When busy, it is can be stressful and very fast paced. When slow, there is not much to do. Front of house is straight forward. You're either bussing, restocking, cleaning or cashiering. You work closely with your coworkers so everyone is on the same page. You get a 10 minute break for 6 hours of work. Free meals are usually included. Upper management is unreliable and most of the time, front of house runs the floor on their own. The menu is small so it's easy to learn.

Well rounded and safe environment. Good experience working with the costumers and co workers. Hours were nice and flexible to work around school.
- A day at work was typically fast paced during dinner but lunch time it was calm.
- I learned how to work around with costumers when they are upset and learned how to treat them on welcoming them in.
-The most enjoyable part of the day was able to make the costumers happy and get my job done because I felt accomplished.
