Calvary Automation is a wonderful company and pays it's employees very well, managers are lacking however. While at Calvary I got my second forklift licence and grew to love my co-workers. Everyday I'd organize job shelves to go out onto the floor for engineers and machine builders. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with so many different people and being able to help them all, however that was also the downfall. Many employees loved to talk and it would look bad to sit and talk and to explain to them you had other things to do. I was pretty much there to get anything anyone needed at any point in time through the day while also organizing job shelves. My first boss was very nice in the beginning but let me go after being written up once for being extremely sick in the beginning and making a mistake towards the end, not only that but the day after I got stuck in a traffic jam, called them and let them know i'd be a little late since there was an accident and i couldnt avoid it or have any way of knowing it was going to happen and got fired. Since then I have tried to contact them in hopes of seeing what exactly went wrong and why i was let go so fast but noone is returing my phone calls, even after leaving many messages.

Calvary has to be the worst company I have ever worked for. The management continually lied and treats you like trash. You cant even go to hr to complain because the hr manager is the one you would be complaining about most of the time! People are cruel and do not treat you with respect. If you think advancement is a thing at calvary you are very mistaken. They will pay 3x as much to bring someone in rather than hire within even if you have the correct qualifications. Absolutely nothing is confidential as an employee! This is a very toxic company, they play favorites, getting a raise is like having to pull out all of your teeth yourself! Everyone will lie to you to keep you here and promise things that will never happen! The controller is the most miserable person you will ever meet! The cfo is her pet so he doesn't keep her in line, the president has his head in the clouds and the owner is like the good idea fairy but none of his ideas are good. I am shocked this company hasn't gone under yet! 

Do yourself a favor and stay away!

I encourage anyone who gets a call from this company to run. They are the most dysfunctional company I have ever worked for and it shows by the number of sales they have and the insane number of hours people work to make up for project shortcomings. It’s feast or famine here, people get hired and fired based on sales. They’ll recruit you hard, promise you the world and then leave you high and dry when work slows down. The camels back is broke and they have no work, none. I wish anyone still there the best of luck. There’s a reason their biggest customers have packed up and went to other automation equipment manufacturers. Their top sales people have jumped ship as well. The one good thing I had to say was their free one a month company lunch;however, they took that away too.

I found this company to be one of the most poorly managed companies that I have ever worked with over the past 35 years in industry. Middle and lower level management communications is one of the poorest that I have ever encountered. No understanding of the process or how the shop floor works. Very little respect for skills and abilities. The first interview with a manager was very thorough and comprehensive, second interview with a new manager was one of the worst interviews I have ever heard of. No knowledge of the job, the skills required, and no questions, comments, or discussion with me during the interview process.

Most employees who have worked here that are disciplined and knowledgeable do not last, unfortunately.  Very political environment.  Underachievers / low lying fruit thrive as they do not pose some sort of threat to the powers.  Calvary has struggled for years to maintain a good business model and it is in the midst of layoffs and employees walking off the job.  Very broken business environment.  HR is "stacking "5 Star reviews , but not even close to the truth.  Rochester is a small community ask anyone who has worked At Calvary and they will agree - broken and lacking accountability on all levels !!

Engineering , quality and  aesthetic’s are superior to other local automation houses in Rochester n y 
Highly organized procurement group. Honesty , integrity and mutual respect are  ever present in this  well maintained facility.
Second to none ISO and Quality group . 
NYS  apprentice program  availability for those that qualify. .
They don’t tolerate loafers .  The massive Jobs they can accommodate with  floor space causes calvary to  bring in  contractors, when work completes they will likely offer a permanent position to some.  Most of the time  the best ones are called back  as needed.

Many misleading and inaccurate projections and promises. People put in dangerous situations by lack of training, and the go go go mentality. There is much incompetence on managing, scheduling, manning projects, They have revolving door hiring and firing. They hire a lot of young people so they're medical insurance wasn't such a big deal. Insurance just for me was costing me 165.00 dollars a week with high co pays. I would advise going elsewhere. I was hired under the understanding I would be required to work overtime constantly. I was working overtime when I got laid off.

The most positive aspect of calvary is the ability to grow and learn. It is a huge benefit to get exposure to such a wide variety of industries and fields. I value the immense amount of knowledge that the employees here have and are able to teach to those around them. Up until this point my experience with raises have been generous which keeps me content with my growth at the company. I value the ability to occasionally work from home when the work lends itself to doing so. I also like the idea of the flex time system; it rewards you for putting in extra time in the week (disregarding the aspects I feel we can improve below)

Great place to work for, you will learn more and become a better engineer working on leading edge applications. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working on large projects is always stressful, Keeping up with budget and schedule is a challenge but that's normal if you want to be part of the best

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good culture they understand your personal challenges but you need to deliver what you promise

I joined as an Intern, initially it was a rough start since I was new to AutoCAD so they slowly molded me into doing small works at the beginning. After few months once I was up and running the work started to become so much fun and everyone were so friendly and down to earth who helped in more number of ways to understand how the system works . This is the best place to kick start your career as all I could take from this experience are all knowledge and positive things.
