Cameron Memorial Community Hospital

Challenging work environment,  engaged employees with a collaborative team effort in a Critical Access Hospital.  As a lead to the Case Management team I have great co-workers that practice patient centered care to make for a high quality experience with patients and families with a health event.  Recent re-organization of the Nursing department from the top down has made for increased stress with work-life balance in a busy work environment.  The recent addition of two hospitalists have increased our census greatly and caused some added stress for staff.  Patient and family satisfaction with outcomes account for the enjoyable part of this job.  Regulations and poor communication interdepartmentally make the job complicated.

In my honest opinion, if this job paid more then it would be a little more toreable but probably still not worth is. They have no decent management and it’s full of drama and talking behind people’s back. Be forewarned company has a hard time keeping employees as well. They dream of being a five star hospital without the five star pay it’s a joke. And most the nursing staff with there three year degree think they know everything.

loved the atmosphere and the coworkers. some days were busy and some weren't, usually just depended on the doctors that were in office that day. I never had a problem with any of the management or higher up workers around me. hardest part of the job was sometimes being short with workers in your department because of sickness or not having enough people signed up to work. when all the locations of the hospital need radiology at the same time it gets kind of crazy and hectic. most enjoyable part of the job was the coworkers and how the department works together.

There is no room for advancement. If you do well at your job, you get to do yours and everyone else's with no extra compensation. I was told to be grateful I had a job at all when no adequate protections were given during the height of Covid. HR will not protect or help you. They automatically side with management and will not investigate anything, leaving you with a write up no matter what. You aren't able to take your breaks. They have employees cover multiple shifts in a day and then question why we are burnt out. 

Cameron hospital is an amazing place to work. Everyone is very friendly and willing to help each other. The teamwork is beyond great. Scheduling and flexibility is truly amazing for this company. It was more like gaining a family when i walked through the doors on my first day versus walking into a job. I only left this job because i was hit by a car and needed time to recover, then chose to focus on finishing my LPN program while still recovering.

The hospital is great, however management is horrible. If you ever have an issue there is no one to go to. Management does not take you seriously and basically wants you to look bad. Having good compliments from patients means nothing to management. There is a lot of favoritism in this company. Away from management it is a great place to work. However if your supervisors have something against you they will do everything in their power to push you out. 

I dont feel like the direct manager of the department I'm in is supportive of me and my own well-being. Also, she does not provide me with a sense of autonomy.  On the other hand, however,  I am very pleased with other leadership, including that of our CEO, who has a servant's  heart, and thus truly cares about the patients served.

Cameron Hospital employees 440+ employees in a rural not-for-profit hospital.  I have been employeed at Cameron for 22 years.  I will retire from my full  time management position in 2015 and have enjoyed the comradery and professional interactions with all coworkers.
In the many years I have worked at Cameron I have enjoyed excellent performance reviews from my senior leaders.

I enjoy the patients and their family members. My coworkers are great and we have good teamwork. My direct supervisor is supportive. 
It's the upper management that can be hard to deal with at times. Asking for approval for some things has to go through so many people. That can be very frustrating. At times it also feels like the upper management does not understand the patient load/acuity.

I started there a few months ago. Very clicky and not wanting to train. I went to higher ups and nothing has been done with the concerns that I have had with the team that I joined. I regret leaving my Parkview position . I'm going back to Parkview. Greatful that my Parkview boss is hiring me back since I left them to come to Cameron. I give Cameron my 2 weeks notice tomorrow.
