I was hired, so i was told pay was 10.50 for PRN, and full-time if you been an aide over 10 years it was 12.25. I was offered a Full-time position under the impression that i would be working a particular side and picking up someone that quit schedule. Well my first day of training i really didn't receive any, i was told to follow the restorative aide around all day. the second day i got threw on a different side and by 12 was told the girl I was working with was going home and that I would have to work the hall alone. but was gave the run down. I tried calling the HR lady, and even put a note under her door to call me and tell me what my exact pay was.. she never contacted me. Then i go to work last night and a aide from the other side comes at 10:35pm yelling at me about the DON switched her permanently to the hall i was working and that i had to go to the other side. in which i had no training all whatsoever. I texted the staffing nurse basically asking her why she didn't inform me, and that if i had know all this i would have stayed PRN.she basically lied to me about where i would be working, but instead i was put full time just to work on everyone hall when they was off. and that not what i wanted. i would have stayed PRN for all that. Now the elders that live there, are easy to care for. but for a company who is all about how the building looks but the patient care is terrible, the aides refuse to do care on a hall when an aide is late, i watched with my own eyes 600 hall be ignored up until 11am b4 they went to do patient care because the aide didn't show up. there are not any paper towel dispensers in any of the patients bathrooms and room for adequate hand washing for employees and elders. the dirty utility closets are kept ever so dirty. daily and nightly.the aides that work there are just there to get a check, none of them truly give care from their heart. and it shows as soon as you go to work the floor. oh and the kiosk i had no training on it and i had to teach myself how to use it. i was only showed how to log in. and find the residents names but no one showed me as they was actually charting. I text the staffing nurse and quit when i got off work. she responded back oh thanks for short notice. I texted back and said thanks for lying to me just to get your floor covered. If you just want to get a check and can deal with working with people with bad attitudes, then go for.. corporate needs to go in an do a full clean house from HR to the nurses and aides

I worked for this company for less than 6 months and honestly it was too long. I knew the building I worked for needed some change to better the patient’s life and make the work environment bearable. I didn’t know what I had gotten myself into and I should have quit after the first week. My training and orientation was ridiculous. I’ve been a nurse for 8 years, I have hospital experience in the ER and ICU. It was ridiculous to train me as a CNA and waste my time for 2 days. It clearly states I have trained CNAs on my resume. Also the nurses I trained with had no idea what they were doing. The nurses have no idea of state regulations and there skill sets are embarrassing. I had 2differemt DONs and 2 ADONs. All 4 individuals are the worst people I’ve ever met. They have no concern about patient well being and they clearly do not care about the staff. My latest DON and ADON tried ruling with ghetto ness, hatefulness, ugliness and fear. They called staff vulgar names and made fun of staff and patients in front of others....it’s embarrassing. Do not bother going up the chain of command to make a complaint because your corporate DON will tell your DON and then you have a hostile work environment.... as if it wasn’t already. No one is held accountable. Most people are unwilling to learn or do more than sit on their butts. Most of their nurses have a fit if they have to do more than pass medications. Our social worker sends people home without home health services and Does not folllow up with families. The SS, DON, and ADON spend most of their time out smoking.  The nursing department is subpar compared to other departments. The therapy team was amazing for the most part. I have more faith in therapy to care for or save someone’s life than most of the nurses and management. The building should just be shut down, and a lot of their buildings in the Dallas area are the same. I feel sorry for the patients and the few good employees they have. If they do not like you, they will push you out, and you definitely do not get paid enough for all the craziness you deal with on a daily basis. No wonder this company has state in their buildings as much as they do and get so many tags including IJ tags. DON NOT APPLY! RUN AWAY!

From top to bottom, literally, administrator to DON to floor staff this place was a disaster. I’ve been a nurse since 2010 and prior to that got my degree in Radiology. I have worked in Trauma hospitals, LTAC, private duty pediatric to geriatric and I can honestly say I am appalled not only for the staff but for the residents. In my short time as an employee I witnessed drama/gossip/high schoolish behavior between all staff and management...but even more appalling than that was the way management NEVER had the employees backs. Everyday I would show up to work and we would NOT have the essential necessities to take care of our residents. No spoons in the entire building to give crushed meds. No briefs, no clean linen and no laundry on staff...new admits that would just show up that no one even had report on, essential equipment like bipap and O2 masks gone. No formula for our g-tube patients. You may think I’m exaggerating but I promise I am not. No staff. I would come onto shift with 36 patients all med surg 4 of which had IV ABT thru their PICC lines, and all 4 were scheduled at the same time sometimes twice on my shift and I would have 1 CNA who was like 8 months pregnant?!? Management could careless and even more than that if you are a good honest hard working caring nurse who actually WANTS to do your job right they will retaliate. ANYONE AND I REPEAT ANYONE WHO TRIES TO FIX WHAT THEY HAVE PURPOSEFULLY BROKEN WILL BE TARGETED! Every possible thing you, as a nurse, would be speechless about was happening here...including staff on staff verbal abuse, resident to resident, resident to staff, no meds, wrong meds, no orders, can’t get orders. Your license literally will be on  the line every single shift. Scariest thing ever!

I have worked for Centex almost sine it opened in Southlake. It was a great place which became short lived. I had to fight for evey raise I got. Management had a lot of turn over, resulting in to chasos. The company offer alot above other facilities but cut backs  left it no more than a very pretty NURSING HOME. there are some VERY GOOD nursing staff that truly care. But they are over worked. The patient load to nurse and CNA are un reasonable for Skilled facility.Do explain how two CNAS can care for 16 plus patient a piece getting them up/down for meals, keep them turned, changed and fed. and showered, answer lights plus more and chart in 8 hrs???? Not sometimes but daily. Nursing 98% of the time you are giving medication, kinda hard to know your patients and give the care this company claimes to give. The other 2% Charting on you 16 plus patients, Helping the CANS and doing admissions all in 8 hours. So why would anyone want to work there? Patients are great, some families not so much. Shout and mangement bending to every need without regard to your work load. I was a good and reliable employee and endured with hope. When census got low had to use vacation and sick time just to have a paycheck. So I moved and got a job closer to home I am still PRN but after this post  doult it. I gave my notice but was unable to use my vacation I had earned so that was lost,  how unfair.  So great leaning and using your skills , But Stressful. Pay ? After 8 yrs I make what anew inexperienced nurse does.. I loved my job nusring and my patient and Great co-workers.But sadden to see how it has declined over the years.

I for one, felt like I was always under the radar. As in someone in management was always watching me to see if I’m doing my job, which I know how to do because I’ve been doing nursing assistant for some years now. The reason why I say this becuase management was cool with all the other CNA’s and when it came to me, it was as if I was an outsider and I didn’t belong. No matter how hard I worked, it always went unnoticed and they seemed soo unappreciative about it, and it wasn’t just me. There were other CNA’s that felt the same way. They even had a bulletin board dedicated to all the CNA’s that did a good job and not one time was I ever up there, even I know I deserved a spot, but whatever. It’s probably becuase I kept to myself, did my job and didn’t really fool around in all that gossiping. But anywho, they also expected a lot out of you even when they’re short staff, and that’s another thing. They could never keep a full staff....and I wonder why lol. They’re soo unappreciative, that our CNA week was a joke. The first day was root beer floats in super small cups with one small scoop of ice cream. It was small enough for a three year old. The next day was supposed to be nachos, but management forgot everything to make the nachos. Like, really??? So they didn’t even bother to redo that one. The third day was popcorn, but instead of making an announcement to let the aides know that there was popcorn. They were all secretive about it and hid it in an area that no CNA would ever think to look. Just terrible, absolutely terrible. Glad I don’t work there anymore.

The company is slowly improving.  They have gotten better with staffing (giving raises-to keep staff and calling in agency as well as offering sign on bonuses). I just wish they would do more for the staff that have stayed with the company. Any-who, before this there was a constant issue of being short handed and management would be in their offices on facebook/youtube instead of getting on the floor and helping their staff and residents. We were a sinking ship- underpaid and unappreciated. They'd expect us to go above and beyond but wouldn't be apart of the team. We can only be as good as our management. They would make us give over 45+ patients medication in a 4 hour window- which was definitely not safe and pretty much impossible to do on time and by state regulations or even their own policy- when this would be explained to them it would fall on deaf ears. They don't want to hire a third CMA. So they expect 2 CMAS to split anywhere from 80 to 120 residents. That's impossible and even down right negligent. Their Computers, laptops and tablets are outdated and always have issues which never get fixed and just need to be replaced but the company wont do it. Cantex would be a good company to work for if they would just pay the employees decently and stop being so cheap. Also, residents (their families and the staff) are happier when there is enough staff to take good care of them. It not only makes the resident look good but it makes the building and company look good when there are positive reviews from families online.  

Having worked at Cantex previously for a short while, I thought I had a pretty good understanding of how things would go during a second period of employment. As far as I could tell, at first glance many of the same employees were still working at this specific location in the heart of West Houston. I still noticed the same clean hallways and nice aromas in the kitchen area as I trotted about, trying to formulate my opinion of the place. It was easy to hear the comradery that spilled into my ears as people worked together towards the same goals starting off with a bang first thing in the morning. There was something else though, something that I hadn’t felt before in a place of work in a very long time. These people weren’t just here playing a part, acting a role, or going through the motions most of the days…they were part of something much bigger and greater that, to this day is still hard to put my finger on or explain in words. All I can say is once you experience the Cantex family and open your mind and heart, the mission becomes clear. You learn to become the best version of yourself that you can possibly be in a truly diverse enviornment. Some where you can belong and be heard, where growth is simply inevitable. Here at Cantex, we truly are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion at the heart. I came back, and now I’m pretty sure I don't ever wanna leave again.  

I've worked in a lot of nursing homes and this is by far one of the worst. the nursing staff is completely over worked because the company decided to cut costs by no longer hiring medication aides. so they pass meds literally all day long stressed out. then the CNAs are responsible for wayyyy too many residents to give each one the proper care. i was often on my feet for the whole shift running around with no break. the company crams as many ppl as they can into the building to collect rent money but don't want to pay for enough staff to be caring for them. there have been times i was rushing to get an item for one of my residents while cleaning them up with the nurse and family waiting for me and the "managing LVN" called me away to go attend to someone else. this should never happen!! keep in mind i barely worked their 1MONTH!!! I was always told this place has a terrible reputation but I thought my skills as a CNA would overcome this. no. don't work here. also they pay the lowest wages in the area!!! by the time you've worked 6 months you might get charged with neglect and lose your licensure due to the sheer volume of work you won't be able to get to. just don't work here!!!!!!! ppl quit ALL the time after working only a short time. Also you will NEVER get a raise ! EVER!

Sigh. I really wanted to like this place. During my interview the DON and ADON make this place out to be a good place to work. I was promised a certain coverage area only to find out that there was already a nurse assigned to the area. I ended up having to drive over 65 miles  / 90 minutes for one patient both ways and then was questioned as to why I could not meet my productivity. The scheduler is a close friend of the DON as well as her bulldog and treats all the nurses terribly. There is one nurse that is their favorite and she is never pulled out of her area to help the other nurses. They do not offer any training on the software or in the field. No one is checked off on any skills. They admit patients without adequate staff to cover - therapy and home health aides mostly. 

This is a terrible place with awful management. The turnover on nurses is high and the only nurse with longevity is the one they show favoritism.  There are plenty other other home health agencies in the area so do not waste your time here! When the census is low they blame nurses and threaten lay-offs or loss of medical coverage. 

Warning: they are advertising on-call every 4-6 weeks which is a joke because now they only have two full time nurses and at least one of the two that I know of plan to leave by the end of the year.

There are lots of poor reviews for a reason.  The sad part is this could be a really good place to work with a few changes.  Unfortunately, the company is strictly profit driven above all else and there will never be any changes.  Employee concerns are ignored.  If they believe the census is not high enough they will tell you to stay home and not come to work that day (so you miss a shift and pay for that shift).  If you are there they will do the same to another nurse or aide and the people left there are completely overworked and stressed to level 10.  The only way to finish your work is to cut corners and that's not safe.  Patients get angry because of how poorly run the place is and they can't get the attention they need.  

On my second day of "training" my trainer didn't show up and I was expected to just do the job.  That's with hardly knowing how their complicated eMAR works and just trying to learn the layout of the place.  I kept hearing how no one ever stayed and the other nurses and aides wished they could get a decent team together but all of the good people that came in would quit after a month or two.

The place I worked looks very nice and upper scale, so I ignored the poor reviews.  The pay is pretty decent as well.  Don't make the same mistake I did.
