A typical day was prioritizing real time encounters of emergency updates, emails, and processing with MTM standards set at 98.5 percent financial processing and 99 percent accuracy processing. Fast paced multi-tasking throughout many departments of daily contacts. 
 I learned to be on alert at all times to prioritize jobs to perform within a 3 day processing window depending on the expediting. Management enforced a relaxed atmosphere in order to keep the fast paced, stressful levels down to do the best job possible. 
 Co-workers are highly focused to perform their job duties well and questions were to be answered in specific ques per time sensitivities. Amicable but at the same time we all had to remain focused for the time sensitivities completions in processing per coordination within the assigned ques. 
The hardest part of the job was making sure that the work to be done was either to be in the clocking system or to have the knowledge of when to go out of the system for special log time. There were times when this was a catch 22 to get the jobs completed in a timely manner. The system could force you out of performing the job to then appear that it took longer than needed to complete the job at hand. 
 The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to process timely issues in a sufficient amount of time with time constraints fulfilled. This was always a challenge due to system updates,upgrades, meetings, MTM standards across the board, and overall timeliness within the job positions.

Even though I have learned many different skills set and health insurance policies. Their is no room for advancement. It seems as if their are people that know higher up such as management and HR that are relatives who get higher positions then seasoned workers which cause conflict between co-workers Favoritism is highly seen. Training needs to be revamp being as if health insurance changes on a yearly basis. Also computer software is very outdated. 

The benefits and pay are good. Most employees are hired through a staffing agency called CK hobbie starting out at $13.00 within a year with good attendance and good quality with calls your hired. With the temp agency you receive more raises however. 

Their is a bad turn around rate and I feel as if it because employees are over worked with the 4-5 skills sets they use. Instead of higher more people they will just make the work load more harder on employees there.

Most people in Management are supervisors have little or no experience in what that are doing and look to the co workers for advice which I was shocked about. Their is competition between the younger employees and seasoned workers not very professional...I highly think their should be a dress code business casual.

Worked at Capital for over 16 years, and for the most part enjoyed my job, the tuition reimbursement policy and the opportunity for growth.  Then came along the outside Consultants with their ever changing, but non-functional systems and their morale lowering hatchet man mentality for employees who had been there for many years.

Change is a good thing when it is innovative and it really improves your day to day operations, tools, processes, etc.  But when change is only benefiting the pockets of Senior Management, "The Chosen, Special People," and the outside Consultants (a few of whom somehow became high level Employees overnight) - morale flew out the window with non-functional and unwarranted department reorganizations, unbelievable demotions/firings/forced early retirements without meaning, way too many layoffs, pay cuts, loss of incentives, benefits and pensions.

It is typical for call center work, but you are dealing with important issues for stressed customers, without the kind of support you'd need to fulfil that confidently. Even after a long training course there's a lot you don't know and the assistance you get can be from other very stressed and snappy coworkers. 

It's disorganized, trying to use your PTO is a nightmare and their priority is finding every way they can to track every minute of your day, squeeze every drop of motivation from you and micromanage you into the ground. 

Even the good people are in a crushing system that gives them no time to be supportive or build meaningful professional relationships that would benefit your work.

'Workforce Management' is the department that you report absence to or ask to correct your virtual clock-ins, and they can be very hostile and unhelpful to. 

At Capital Blue Cross, the member service reps are the front line, solving the customers problems, but are bottom of the pile in the company and treated that way. 

Capital Blue Cross is a very diversified company. I loved working there and made many friends and networking with other departments and other companies was easily accomplished and rewarding.  My career there was wonderful for many years and the opportunities presented to me were tremendous, but, unfortunately things are ever changing and the stability of the company concerns me currently.  Many of my co workers for many years have recently been let go because of these economic times.

The hardest part of the job was also the most rewarding.  As supervisor of the Interplan Teleprocessing Unit for 10 years, bringing my very high profile company from 13th placement to 8th place nationally was hard work indeed, but was also my and my team's greatest accomplishments.

Working here was the worse decision I ever made in my life. A big group of us were hired and told we would be trained for 10 weeks and that the company cares about their employees. Both of these statements were lies to get as many bodies to fill their seats as they could. We had 4 weeks of training were told to reach out to our supervisor if we needed help. Well the supervisors were never available and then when we did get a response three days later, it was to tell us we messed up and that it was unacceptable...This place made me feel sick everyday before going in and I had multiple panic attacks from knowing no matter what I did, my supervisor would yell at us in an email. I am so glad I left this company and I am starting to see a turn around in my mental health. Management was awful, culture was of the higher ups treating us like "the help". and being told that customers were allowed to tell us to kill ourselves was the worse. DO NOT WORK HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HAPPINESS. 

Capital Blue Cross has recently changed their focus and management. They have demoted several long term employees, fired or ask several to leave and increased work loads to a level unachievable. The morale of the company is currently non-existent and managers from team leads to upper management can no longer be trusted. If something personal is shared it is held against the person sharing it. A few folks are taken under management's wing and have less caseloads and not micromanaged,others are super micromanaged &criticized. No compliments are provided only tearing down staff. No support for personal or work issues and no longer kudos when a good job has been done. It was expected! To succeed CBC needs to look at current management style and make adjustments. 

Complete waste of time, energy and my life force for the 22 months I was with the company overall. I was a temp for 10 months and was told and sold on this dream of employment paradise once became permanent which was complete utter lies! High stress environment with severe micromanaging! Zero work life balance, management was a joke along with worst pay scale I’ve ever seen or witnessed from an employer. Literally was celebrated for my hard work and dedication with a .36 cents raise. WOW! Always adding new work to your current work load and training is laughable at best! For advancement, you need to brown nose or have family employed there in management or other departments and you may just be able to possibly escape to another department. Unqualified workers get promoted for simply having family working in company that pull strings. Seriously don’t know how this company still exists! Run Away!!

Just 1 example of how they treat their employees:
100% attendance was expected during training period; 
Told Mgmt 2 WKS IN ADVANCE that I had to take 1/2 day for a scheduled BREAST CANCER BIOPSY (even emailed medical paperwork as proof). Since it was during training period, they considered it an UNSCHEDULED UNPAID absence & I was written up for it! 
This HEALTH INSURANCE company promotes the "health & well-being" of their paying customers, but couldn't care less about the health of their own employees! 

Extremely fast paced, stressful job. Required EXTENSIVE knowledge of all aspects of health insurance plans (claims, benefits,pre-auths, medical terminology, etc). Pay was absurdly LOW for providing such important info. Supervisors micromanaged everything. 

I am new to Capital Blue Cross. I am still training. There is a lot to learn, but I have had nothing but positive experiences so far. My traning experience has been unlike any other place that I have ever worked , where I have been baptized by fire. Capital Blue Cross is really invested in making sure that you learn what you need to know, and my interactions with co workers, team lead, and other departments have been very friendly. 
PTO is pretty good, you earn some with each pay check based on length of service, BUT, they also provide some extra days. I started in September, and they pro-rated me 2 additional days that I can use immediately ( which I am, due to a pre-planned trip ) .
you also get a weekly email from the CEO, which makes him seem more down to earth .
 So far, I am happy with my experience at Capital Blue Cross.
