Where do I even begin? I started working here thinking it would be great but after a year its become clear that they don't care about you unless you're in sales, or a manager. Its 2023 and they still think employees can be paid off with free food. When I went through training they were so proud of their banners (their principals) and I can list off 4 that they have totally disregarded. Our service manager is overworked because they refuse to hire a new service writer despite having at least 3 internal employees express interest in the position, and instead of being honest and forthcoming they ignore anyone interested in the position which just makes employees feel like they cant come forward if they want a raise, promotion, etc. There's no accountability for tardiness, employees and managers alike come and go as they please. Policies mentioned in the handbook are followed only if its convenient. POC that work here are either thrown under the bus, fired, or disregarded which raises major ethical concerns in my opinion. All the managers on the corporate side of things are awful. They visit constantly, and one manager in particular has a serious attitude problem that needs to be addressed. Berating people via e-mail over something they have no control over is absolutely unacceptable. But yea, I REALLY wanted to like it here and I'll admit I'm easy to sell on something but you have to deliver. I like what I do and who I work with but the lack of consideration for anyone that's not a manager or in sales is just really disappointing.

Where do I begin?  I joined the CarSense family in 2014 after a 17 year stint in the traditional car dealership.  Within the traditional model I had great successes.  I worked in sales, finance, internet, management, etc.  However, with Carsense my opportunity through growth has been off the charts.  In my four years with company I have been promoted from sales to internet sales to sales manager to general sales manager.  The entire company's passion for success becomes a part of you!  Everybody wants to win!  It's just like a family here and its starts with caring for one another. Everyone generally is interested in what you have going on in your life. If company culture is what you are looking for, look no further.  The level of integrity at CarSense is second-to-none.  We don't cut corners just to make a buck.  From the managers, to the lot attendants, to the technicians, to the buyers, we all just act accountably....its amazing!   When it comes to innovation, CarSense is always trying to stay one step ahead of the competition.  From the quality of our cars to the perfection in our photos.  Some local companies have tried to emulate our business model, only to fail and go back to their old school ways.  If you are looking for some work-life balance in the car business, CarSense is always fair and equitable when it comes to your personal time. In closing, if you are looking to have a career with a great and growing company.  CARSENSE IS IT!

If you’re like me and are planning on a career change, please reconsider. Unless you have a nice cushion to fall back on, savings or retirement from somewhere else, the income from this job is not reliable. You can have a spectacular month as soon as you start, or struggle for 3 months, there is no way to know how it’s going to go. It’s car sales, period. First and foremost, you will not make anything beyond your base salary of $400 per week for the first 3 weeks, no matter what management tells you in the interviews. You’re paid weekly, and your salary is 20k per year. Beyond that you are paid bonuses based on productivity and volume. The medical benefits cost a fortune for singles and families. Be prepared to pay upwards of $700 per month for family medical. The culture is amazing. Management is actually pretty nice, fair, and they do feed you every Saturday, but the trade off is everyone has to work Saturday’s, all year round.  The co-workers are great, and the atmosphere is high energy and positive mostly.

I worked at Carshop of Glen Mills for about 5 years as a service technician. While I had hoped to contribute positively, my experience was overwhelmingly negative due to several systemic issues that potential candidates should be aware of.
• Toxic Leadership and Hostile Environment: The atmosphere was consistently hostile and unprofessional. Leadership exhibited clear favoritism, which severely undermined morale and fairness across the teams. This toxic dynamic made the environment feel unsafe and high-stakes, promoting internal competition rather than collaboration.
• Significantly Uncompetitive Compensation: The salary and compensation structure is poor, especially when considering the demanding workload. The pay is low compared to industry standards for the level of responsibility and performance expected. There is a distinct lack of willingness to invest fairly in the staff.
• Zero Professional Development: Training is non-existent. There are no resources or budget allocated for ongoing professional growth or skills development, which stifles career progression.

The culture is all about saying that you're happy and everything company wide is positive and there's nowhere better. The reality is, you are underpaid, over worked, and unappreciated. The snow policy alone is just immoral. For the positions that get paid at all (flat rate employees) you get straight time to shovel the 600 car lot. But it's ok because the salaried employees are doing it too... for their regular pay. Every time you bring up how unreasonable it is, they'll just say "We can't afford to pay everyone their average, or pay a company to come in and do it for us." (It's a billion dollar company)

   It doesn't matter how many days you showed up early and worked late last week if they want you to work late this week, you shouldn't have made plans. But when you're struggling to make ends meet, don't worry! They always look out for their guys! Except nothing ever happens. 

   Maybe it's just my experience, maybe it's the experience shared by 12 people that have left since I did, who's to say?

These are a few things that come to mind when I think of CarSense. CarSense is not your typical dealer, matter of fact it's not your typical company period. As we continue to grow and fill CarSense's with new employees we still don't sacrifice our values and that's the key to successful growth. Yes they expect us to perform at our highest level possible but what company wouldn't want that from their employees? Every employee has an opportunity to create a successful career with hard work and dedication. But what is hard work without some play time?? How about catered lunch's, special dinners celebrating success, all day at the movies, go kart racing, Dave & Busters, and probably the best Christmas party you'll every see that includes gifts that would blow your mind. These are things that they give us from day one. I could go on forever but I think you get how I feel. If you are someone looking for an opportunity and willing to work for it than come check out your local CarSense and see for yourself.

I have been a sales consultant for coming on 5 years now and I still come into work feeling positive and motivated every day. What I like most about carsense is the ability to do my job comfortably while most customers enjoy the process and feel stress free buying a car. I feel you don’t get that positivity at other car dealers. I’m a positive person who hates being stressed so when I provide my customers a stress free experience in what many consider to be one of the most stressful things they’ll ever do in life, to me that says a lot about the company you work for. Management really cares about their employees and are always there to help and work on growing your career. You’ve got one happy employee in me!

I’m still new and training however with that being said when I walk into CarShop there’s a warm friendly feeling. Management and my team are easy to get along with. They’re very supportive and always asking how I’m doing and if I need anything. I’ve learned that the needs and how we take care of the customer is very important. We’re not just selling vehicles we’re helping customers find the right vehicle for them. We’re saving the customers time and money and while doing so we’re making new friends in the hopes of getting repeat business. When I’m ready to go live I believe the hardest part of my job will be juggling more than one customer at a time but I’m sure when I get I to a routine this will get easier. The most enjoyable part of my day is my coworkers and meeting new people to help. 

Wow!  What a year.  2020 Has certainly challenged us with some unchartered waters.  You know what?  Alot of companies grew further apart during this time, but at CarSense we got a whole lot closer together.  With such a tight knit bunch we were able to make it through this unprecedented year by leaning on our core values:
