Care Advantage

It’s a big fat no. When I first started working in the corporate office. I liked my job but as time went on I noticed a lot of flaws in this “well oiled machine” 1. Management treats you like disposable objects and they expect you to work harder with little to no recognition. 2. The turn over rate is high in my department, and people wonder why. It’s not the job it’s self. It’s management. Particularly one manager. She is very rude to her subordinates and is “sweet” to the people over her. 3.The pay is not that great. I had to start a second job because I wasn’t making enough money. 4.The micromanaging is horrible. I receive multiple emails about things that can be researched if they wanted to look. But no, they would rather email me asked for the information. Instead of actually looking for it themselves. Which makes my job a lot harder to accomplish. 5.They expect you to put the company over your health.  Even when your physically in pain. 6. You will never receive recognition for the work that you do and believe me, it’s a lot of work. They will take the credit, every single time. And if you do something wrong. Management will throw you under the bus to save themselves. Even if it’s a minuscule issue. Do not work at Care Advantage. Do your selves a favor and save your energy and time. LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE. Working in the Corp office, you can’t work remotely at all unless your management. Even if your job could be done at home. 

Over all: Every time I pull into the parking lot I have to ask myself, if I really need this job. And then I get a instant headache. I have a ulcer, just by working here do to stress. Don’t. Just don’t.

This was my first caregiving company that I worked for after recieving my certification in 2017 .High turnover rate over the years.

At one point the office staff was compeletely...yes..completely fired and replaced. This was before my 2 year mark.

I've seen managers come and go personel staff come and go ,schedulers,..to many to count. I will say despite the chaos and confusion I've experienced at this newport news location I think they finally got it together. The new team in the office are more productive and efficient. Communication is decent . At some points they would send an email out (to field staff) to not call the office. Would hapen every once in a while because calls were at a high that day .But the consistent issue from 2017 to 2021 was pay. Heck my very first paycheck there was an issue. But that time I was overpaid. two weeks pay for one week.  After that. Some days I would be clocked out while still at clients house.Then I'd have to call and ask them why they clocked me out when they know I was still there (waiting for someone to relieve me . I couldnt leave till another aid showed up even after a 12 hour night shift) Would constantly have to make sure my pay was correct. That was uncessary stress I should never have to worry about.  Typical day at work  washing patient bathing patient and cleaning up. workplace culture...they would have holiday parties they would have free food availble for you to enjoy. The job itself wasnt hard. most enjoyable for me at the time was caring for someone who needed it.

You get into a routine as an agency nurse.  However, it's usually not typical.  The needs of the offenders vary, as do occasionally your tools and resources to perform the job.  Requires strong communications skills and hustle.  You may be short of a particular medication for the morning medication line [the time when the offenders line up to take their medications that were prescribed].  You must be able to locate an alternative source, if one is available in another medical center.  

In a correctional facility, unless you work in the dispensary, you often work alone.  The only person that you have constant contact with is the on duty nursing supervisor.  For the most part, you've got to be an independent and confident practitioner. 

You must be able to stand for hours, finding, pulling, pouring, and later serving pills, injections, elixirs, etc. Then, if there's a sudden emergency, you've got to be able to stop your present activity.  Attend to the new situation, and resume it later without missing a beat.  

I loved helping the guys [the offenders] that were genuinely sick, and because of my background, I was able to spot the problem.  And, being able to get them the proper care.  I liked making a difference for the most helpless offenders.

Feedback: 
On a typical day working at Care Advantage for me is staying open-minded and always alert and fun and emotional. Since I have been at Care Advantage I have learned to not get so attach and learning to separate business from personal. Far as Management at Care Advantage from what I see management can and is not an easy title, but in spite of, things do tend to stay on track. Far as the workplace culture, I would say what makes the business unique is that from what I see so far, the beliefs of the business matches with the attitudes of the staff and what matters to all is that nothing but the best is what they stand for. One of the positive traits of Care Advantage is that their payroll is direct deposit and the pay rate is fair, but they will tend to make changes when necessary to better the pay rate, Plus I have seen clear communication between my boss and other employees and I don't see any issues, so I rate this as a good thing. I would have to say that the hardest part of working at Care Advantage is getting to attach to the clients, and when they pass. On the rate of the most enjoyable part of the job, I would have to say for me is being able to be independent and being able to make my own schedule and being able to pay my bills without relying on the government.

The mission to care for others is very strong and at the forefront of decisions made by leaders. I truly felt that taking care of the clients and caregivers was always important to everyone who was on the payroll. 

Change is constant, but so is healthcare. It's a choice you make. Private-equity backed got to be too much for me as I felt they took the "fun" out of my roles. I loved what I did and I could be the biggest cheerleader for the company, but the fast pace and constant reporting contributed to my burnout. 

The caregivers are wonderful and really deserve the praise and accolades. They keep their clients happy and healthy and their work truly makes a difference. They were so much fun to work with. Office teams are great and really carry the weight of the whole company on their shoulders. Providing care in peoples homes is so tough but I think this company really has a great secret sauce. 

Overall, I was proud of what I accomplished in my eight years at the corporate office (I was there through COVID) and I felt good, ultimately, by my decision to leave. It was the right time. I am excited to see this company thrive and provide really good care to people in the community. 

Care Advantage after reading the reviews on poor management and careless people in corporate are absolutely on point. They will paint this perfect picture of the company and make you think it’s different than others and they’re  the worst  . I’ve worked at other home health agencies and they make everything harder than what it needs to be even down to staffing I’ve seen staffers cry , walk out and never return and even call out due to the on call being so hectic and unable to rest that night .  They are so focused on money that they forget how to correctly train office staff and aides on expectations  so when everything is going wrong they are quick to point the finger but fail to realize that they did not provide training for someone to do their job correctly  . When They loose a client no type of sympathy or sending out a condolence card with flowers instead the manager is more sadden in the hours she has lost and money the company will loose . If you need a paycheck and want something for the moment this is the job but when you get the opportunity please don’t hesitate to leave because I’ve been here less than a year and Plan on leaving after the holidays.

This job is NOT for people trying to move up, and definitely NOT for people looking for an impressionable career in any Healthcare field. 
I’ve learned that allowing clients to getaway with things even when they are wrong is how you keep a job here, management is in the gutter literally. All about saving oneself and that’s it, also a whole lot of nepotism due to the small area and everyone most likely related or went to school together.  

Don’t expect pretty much anything from management unless something they don’t like comes into play ..they do NOT prioritise their workers. I’ve been sent to homes with Stachybotrys chartarum on the  walls and floors falling through the ground and NONE of management will come out and take a look or even try properly fixing the issues. It’s almost like they want nurses but don’t want to pay them what they deserve. 
The starting pay is 12.00hr and obviously in this economy that’s laughable. 
Hardest part is dealing..you gotta deal with too much to keep a terrible job..only enjoyable moment is leaving for the day. 

My typical day consists on either returning visit to clients that I came to love like family, and on other days I may meet a new client who welcomes that thought of having a caring professional to look after their needs to sustain a good quality of life. Sometimes the normal things an average person can experience on a regular basis is hard for these individuals, who maybe up in age and do not have the functionality as a younger person may have. I have learned that one day I will be in there shoes and I would love to have a caring person too assist me with my daily living activities. The management team are the front line of what I do and they strive on doing better and placing good people with their growing family of clients. The hardest part of the job is meeting clients on Hospice and see their kind hearts and how loving they are and knowing they will be leaving us soon. You just want them too feel as they were when they were healthier. The most enjoyable part is hearing their stories.

I enjoy working for Care Advantage. I do wish that I could work with the same client full time but there’s another aide that helps out so I have to pick up odd & end shifts that I don’t really care for (scheduling wise). I like being able to work an 8 hour shift & go home but I usually have to work split shifts bc the shifts are mostly 4 hours but they do vary from 2-24 hours (if available) There are times where I get stressed out because we’re paid very little to go out to patients homes and a lot of the time we’re doing way more than what’s in the POC (plan of care). I love helping and being able to support my patients so it’s very rewarding, I just wish it paid more. There have been times where I didn’t feel very welcomed or safe in a clients home and Care Advantage was very good at trying to find a replacement. I will say sometimes they will hassle you to take shifts even if you’re not available, which can become very irritating especially when you’ve already declined an assignment and they send it to you several more times. 

This job was not what I thought. The management seems cool but when I first started last year, I was excited to work here. Many bonuses/gift cards were offered, management made employees feel appreciated. Now they have shifts but they’re not always guaranteed the hours you need unless you have a 24hr client which still isn’t worth the pay unless the client pays more which isn’t often. There’s always different management & they don’t seem to care about paying you right, some of the after hours clock in/out staff are rude, you don’t get a “heads up” about any difficult clients or even a summary of their condition and you overwork yourself for low/occasionally good pay since it’s weekly pay. They don’t offer good incentives/bonuses unless you overwork yourself (we all want down time, no one wants to work 7 days a week). Not knocking anyways hustle but how can fast food pay more than these type of jobs? These companies burn out & mistreat their good workers, I feel bad for the management/workers who do right.
