The interview process was unusually informal, and there was no one available who could provide clear or thorough answers to my questions about the role. Although the salary offered was initially appealing, the cost of health benefits was significantly higher than what I had experienced in previous hospice positions. While this might have been manageable given the mileage reimbursement, other concerns ultimately outweighed the benefits.

One of the most troubling issues was the lack of recognition or support from management. Positive contributions and successes were rarely acknowledged; instead, communication from leadership primarily occurred when employees raised concerns. When staff did bring issues forward in good faith, they were met with dismissiveness, and in some cases, those employees were terminated under the guise of “not being the right fit” for the company culture. These departures were not communicated transparently to the team, creating confusion and uncertainty.

Based on my experience in healthcare, the feedback I offered was constructive and appropriate. Unfortunately, the response I received felt rude, patronizing, and retaliatory. Although leadership often gives verbal assurances that improvements to workplace culture are forthcoming, no concrete actions have been taken to demonstrate genuine commitment to change. Even when concerns are escalated to the owner of the company, there is little meaningful follow-through, as the owner is rarely present to address or resolve ongoing issues.

This hospice was the most negative I have ever worked for in my career. The culture amongst leadership, obvious favoritism, and gaslighting behaviors were absolutely exhausting to deal with on a regular basis. In addition, the work level expectations were the highest and most unrealistic I’ve ever dealt with, with minimal flexibility or empathy unless you were one of the “chosen.” They preach self-care and balance while simultaneously demanding more, despite their field staff attempting communication, advocacy, and education for change. Their PTO policy is completely misleading, with expectations to tell them about time-off and appointments 2-4+ weeks in advance (with minimal empathy about last-minute things coming up). Their HR department is disorganized and unprofessional, at best. Their CEO promises change for damage control and then never delivers, making the turnover rate absolutely insane. The attractive pay offerings do not at all make up for the negative culture this company has continuously pushed.

I started out in this company as an office assistant. This company took a chance on me because they saw that I have the heart for hospice but I didn’t have the credentials on paper to prove it. I got promoted to executive assistant in 3 months and in 1 year, moved from the office to the field to work with the marketing team. 

I believe in this company. As we grew, we encountered a lot of challenges. And unfortunately, lost some people along the way. But to be apart of this company, early on, while it is still in its infancy stages, is powerful to me. I get to be apart of the group of people that will shape this company into something truly miraculous. To set an entirely new standard in healthcare and hospice. One that is compassionate, coordinated, and deeply human. 

I am beyond blessed to be in a wonderful team, aka “dream team.” Beautiful human beings, each colorful in their own way, and also has a “hospice heart.” And to have a supervisor who supports and believes in me as well. 

Great things are happening and more to come in this company. 


Overall, I can tell this company wants to do well by the patient and their employees. They need to lower cost of insurance. They will prevent employee burn out if they initiate earned pto.

The work culture is fabulous and the company commitment to staying fully staffed makes for a very manageable caseload and a positive work/life balance for the hospice nurses and aides. .  The hardest part of the job and the most rewarding part of the kid is simply the fact that it is hospice that you are doing.  You grow close to patients and their families, only to lose them in the end.  That said caring for people in such need and knowing you have made a genuine difference in the lives others is the most rewarding experience a nurse could ever have.

The company’s focus on providing compassionate, end-of-life care is reflected in every aspect of the job. The team is incredibly supportive, and there’s a strong sense of purpose in the work we do, which is rare! 

Management is approachable, and they foster an environment of empathy, not just for our patients but also for staff. The work can be emotionally challenging, but the personal growth and fulfillment that come with it are immeasurable..! :)

The people in the top roles bicker and gossip constantly.  They play favorites and don’t address issues. 

The HR department is a mess and employee needs and concerns frequently went unmet.

Rules were confusing and frequently changing and no responsibility was taken by HR/IT when it impacted your paycheck.

Leaders weee frequently in fighting and honestly it felt like a miracle that the field staff operated as well as it did as a result. 

There’s a lot of job promotion because people are constantly leaving.

The people. The whole team including leadership are all there for the pts and their families.

No more stressful than any other PRN position of inconsistent schedule.

Very supportive from the top down.

Every day is different especially for PRN staff

A great culture and we provide all 4 levels of care.

Death can be stressful in itself.

Open door policy. No talking about other employees from management.

I work weekends after hours and called when a need arises for symptoms management

You can advance in this company quickly. They truly want a positive culture in the workplace, they struggle on understanding how to make that be.  Work hard, keep your head down you will be fine. * God Speed and Good Luck
