As an X-ray technologist, this job is great for getting your feet wet and comfortable with mostly extremity based exams and patient interaction. However, long term...CareSpot should NOT be an RT's end goal. Don't feel like you are stuck working here. 

While working here, you are FORCED to be cross trained. You will not only perform X-ray exams. Your duties as an employee are that of an RT, MA, as well as as checking patients in and out at the front desk and performing drug screening(hair, blood, and urine) and BAT(breath alcohol testing) testing for DOT and NON-DOT clients. Essentially, you will have many responsibilities with a pay rate that does not reflect the amount of work that is demanded of you. 

The X-ray equipment could be rated subpar at best. The X-ray tubes and control panels are perhaps just a step above what one would find at a veterinarians office. As X-ray technologists, it is our duty to abide by ALARA and protect the patients from unnecessary radiation exposure with the use of proper technique, positioning, and shielding. In my experience with the centers that I worked at, sponges for proper positioning were scarce. The ones that did exist were literally falling apart. Proper patient shielding was also scarce. There were no rolling shields to protect patients during PA and Lateral Chest Exams however, a single lead apron was available. Gonadal shields were not present at all. There were thyroid shields available as well as full torso aprons though. Every center that I know of implements the use of CR technology. This means that there should be a decent amount of cassettes available to be used however, that was not the case in my experience. My coworkers and I were limited to having 1 8x10" cassette and 2 14x17" cassettes. If you needed to be fast paced in your exams due to patient condition, this could prove to be challenging to you as a technologist as well as very taxing on the patient. The only grids that were available were located in the exam table and wall bucky. This proved to be a challenge for some table top exams that require the use of grids. The exam table at the center I worked at did not have the option to raise or lower. This proved to be an issue when attempting to perform Chest exams on patients that were shorter than average in height due to the tube not being able to be properly positioned at 72"; the table hindered that. Undue stress on the lower back when positioning patients was also an issue caused by the limitations of the exam table. Furthermore, none of the centers implement the use of AEC to my knowledge so, get comfortable with your kVp and mAs techniques. 

The URGENT CARE centers take APPOINTMENTS both online as well as calling ahead. This stacks on top of any patients that may walk-in and wish to be seen. With the way that patients are scheduled(appointments every 15 minutes plus any walk-in patients that may arrive), taking a lunch during your 12 hour shift is a far fetched idea if you don't want to get behind and stay later than you're already going to be there. Some patients have a hard time understanding the concept implemented by CareSpot in regards to it being an Urgent Care center that takes appointments versus just being on a walk-in basis. You may or may not catch some static from discontented patients when you see 5 appointments before them because they were a walk-in. 

The hours are hideously long. Just because a center closes at a certain time does NOT mean you will be off of work at closing time. Your 12 hour shift can effortlessly turn into a 13, 14, or even 15 hour shift. The long hours are mainly due to how Corporate demands the Registrars to schedule patients that wish to be seen. If the appointment books are filled till close and there are walk-in patients in the lobby, every person in the center HAS to be seen before anyone can go home. This includes the patients that that walk-in 1 minute before the doors shut. Oh! Also, just because you are hired on at a certain location that you chose because it was convenient to your home, does not mean that you will only be working there. You may be required(Volun-told) from time to pick up shifts at ANY of the locations from St. Augustine, all the way up to Yulee, and even out in Middleburg. You are compensated(poorly) for the mileage though. 

Overall, as previously stated - this is a great job to get your feet wet. You will learn a lot of skills and be able to use the skills you learned in both your clinical assignments and classrooms. There are just a lot of Corporate hang ups that can stress you out.

Worked at one of the corporate offices.  Had an unfriendly, penny-ante narcissistic little man-child monster of a boss whose ego required constant stroking.  Meanwhile, he kept all the work he actually wanted to do to himself, while dumping off all the things that bored him onto the employees.  This led to some pretty strange divisions of labor, e.g. technical employees being put up to building business relationships and negotiating contracts instead of doing the technical work they were, in theory, hired to do (boss chose to do that stuff himself).

He treated people as disposable and even managed to scare away a good employee with his self-absorbed histrionics.  He would also openly ridicule previous employees.  This is bad enough on its own, but what really amplified this is that most of the rank-and-file under him didn't merely kiss his feet, they actively tried to imitate him in order to "get in good".  Thus, otherwise normal people would turn into complete turds whenever bossman was around.

He was utterly inept as a manager of people because his idea of being a manager simply means telling other people what to do.  As such, he was completely incapable of finding and recognizing others' talents and delegating jobs to take advantage of those talents.  He was a miserable failure at inspiring anyone to do anything more than the bare minimum.  He forcefully injected himself into the minutiae of my day for no other reason than because he could do it.

Last but certainly not least, he was too self-important to bother himself with something as silly as listening to you.  If he asked you a question, it was a safe bet that he would put on a poor show of pretending to listen to maybe the first five or six words of your answer, before flatly interrupting you and telling you what the answer to his question should be.

Despite all of the above, I can't help but feel a little sorry for the guy.  He certainly didn't strike me as someone who liked himself very much.  His personal Twitter was used as a constant battleground for whatever person/company/entity angered him that day.  I'm not sure how much of his behaviour was out of sheer obliviousness and how much of it was the result of naively believing that people actually like and respect him.  When and if he finally does figure it out, the narcissistic rage that will follow will not be pretty for those around him.

My time at Carespot was a deeply disappointing experience. The company’s management team lacked the necessary experience and leadership skills to effectively guide the organization. This has led to a complete lack of profitability, resulting in minimal raises for employees. In fact, we were often made to feel that we should be grateful for the small raises we did receive.

Opportunities for growth within the company are non-existent. Employee complaints and feedback are rarely acknowledged, let alone acted upon. The company has been acquired and re-acquired multiple times, each iteration leaving it more of a hollow shell than the last. This has created an environment where the focus is solely on penny-pinching and making the books look attractive for the next potential buyer, rather than investing in the employees or the future of the company.

For years, Carespot has been on a downward trajectory with no effective solutions offered other than to see more patients and increase the workload. The emphasis is clearly on short-term financial appearance rather than long-term stability and employee satisfaction.

Overall, the company’s decline and the lack of meaningful response to critical issues make it an unappealing and unsustainable place to work. The current state is a far cry from what it once was, and I would not recommend it to anyone seeking a fulfilling and supportive work environment.

Never worked for an urgent care clinic before coming to Care Spot. The training I received was learn as you made mistakes. The person training me was not even a nurse. That person is not to blame it should be management. You work 12-hour shifts with no breaks because there's only two staff members and a physician or nurse practitioner on duty. According to other reviews you do have to accept the last patient coming in even if it's at 8 o'clock p.m. closing. I guess if you're just starting out this will give you good experience. If you've been in the field for a minute you do not want to put your license on the line by working by yourself at all times. They hire you on as a clinical person but also training you at the front desk. So which job was I hired to do? There is a high turnover rate and from working there I understand why. More training is definitely needed. Videos and taking tests online are not the way to provide that. From the moment you hit the floor you should know protocols on all processes and procedures. Upgrade your training process and consider your employees more not the dollar. I see now why they hire CMA'S over nurses. Lower cost and over worked.

At the Beaches center, we developed a family like dynamic where I was able to learn the majority of the medical assistant duties under the supervision of the experienced eye of the MA's as well as the tutelage of the Providers. Our Providers were approachable and happy to teach, and encouraged the staff to apply our own critical thinking skills. Even though I often worked overtime and filled in at other centers, I never felt as if my family life sacrificed for my work life. While working at a walk-in clinic can sometimes be harried and stressful, I was always confident that our team would "dig" our way out of it. I feel I acquired a whole new set of skills as I cross trained on the other positions like check in and check out, performed in-house diagnostic labs, and collected specimens and prepared them for transport to outside laboratories. I am also DOT drug screen certified and Breath Alcohol Testing certified.

Run. Absolutely no growth. Mid-levels are treated like dirt while MA/front desk are glorified. Be prepared to do your own vitals, tests, and if you get tired of the lazy co-workers you are branded as a trouble maker.  Management openly mocks each other and other staff.  Good money, horrible and toxic environment.  Run...

Your first week you get a letter stating you will not agree and you will likely be unhappy, don’t share it.  Management will sell you for $1.  No one will support you even when you are right... you will be called to change a medicine or a call by management to make the “customer “ happy.

Everybody is out for themselves. It’s so toxic they try to turn staff and management against each other

● Overall
Run... if you are desperate take it and never stop looking. You will not be valued or appreciated.  You will feel every medicine bone in your body rebel at working here.

If you’re a recent grad, then take this job to get experience. But once you get your experience, get out.  Overworked and understaffed. Even though you’re understaffed, they do nothing to help you get through the 12 hour shift. They don’t care what time you get out. They don't care if patients are waiting for 4 hours. They expect  you to see all the appointments every 15 min, all walk ins, all the drug screens, all the labs, and do all the logs. If you do x-rays then also that.  If you have 2 providers, then you have appointments every 7.5 min, plus walk ins, plus everything else I said before. No raises. No appreciation. You work holidays. Bonuses are not good. Health insurance is not good. They wont even buy pizza on those really hard days when you work so hard and sacrifice your mental health for them. If you get sick, you can be seen for free there, but just a couple times every 3 months, but you'll be penalized and get points for not coming to work. 

I worked for the organization during their expansion out of Florida. This organization is run by business heads, not medical. Our Chief Medical Officer, whom I liked very much, lasted less than 1 year due to conflict with safe medical practices and CEOs insistence on making a profit. This is a business venture funded by PRIVATE VENTURE CAPITALISTS! I cannot recommend this organization for any person who cares for their profession and desires a healthy work-life balance. Expect no bonuses (but the recruiter will make it seem like a sure thing), expect to be written up within one year of service (a way of denying you raises, transfers and bonuses) and expect the most patient complaints you have ever had in your life! Hours are 8am to 8 pm with management ENCOURAGING you to see people after 8 p.m.  Expect your days to last 14 hours, no breaks. They have a policy that you are NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE PREMISES for any lunch.

12 hour shifts which usually run to about 13-14 hours. under staffed so you can’t get a real lunch break. you can clock out for 30 min if you want to eat unbothered but then you’re leaving your coworker alone in the craziness. most weeks you work 4-5 days (12-14 hours a day) due to being understaffed. management likes to change rules/patient policy it seems like every day or whenever a new complaint or compliment arrive. management is somewhat flexible when it comes to emergencies, personal issues needing to leave work. communication amongst management sucks. you don’t know if someone called out & no replacement is coming until the day of when you have to call your manager bc your coworker or even a provider is not there & you’re alone, backed up & have a full 2 provider schedule of patients yelling and complaining. you can never please a patient 100% they will always complain

The most stressful part about working for this company was the leadership team and the inconsistent delegation of expectation verse reality. There were no opportunities to have guidance as well as structure. It was every man for themselves, and there were many opportunities where it was by any means necessary and at the expensive anybody else other than the leadership team to take accountability

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It’s very standoff very much unappreciated. And there’s no room for culture or diversity.

Start with meetings and reports and end up running the front end to ensure patient satisfaction.
