It pains me to write anything negative about a company that could be a good place to work for and I really wish I didn't have to. I had high hopes for becoming a part of the Careington company.
I have gradually seen the truth behind how things operate at the company and they are not good. There is a lot of disorganization and mismanagement of projects AND employees. Projects do not have realistic timelines and everything suddenly becomes a rush at the last minute because people not qualified to manage projects are running the show. Key parties are not always kept in the loop and find out important details later into the project only to become frustrated. There are so many people that have to have an opinion about a project, that said opinions clash and nothing gets accomplished because nobody can agree on anything. It's an endless cycle that doesn't get resolved until it's to the point where a client becomes frustrated and the people working for the company have been overwhelmed and stressed out from getting clear direction from anybody, and certain departments that tend to work the hardest often get blamed when something does not go right with a project because of the mismanagement. 

You have to fight to have your voice heard; opportunities for constructive feedback do not mean anything - nothing changes; People who try to implement good change end up getting let go because things are taken personally. There is way too much turn over for a company that claims to run on integrity and labels itself as a Fortune 500 company. There's also quite a bit of dishonesty and taking credit for someone else's work that happens. It's hurtful, honestly.  A big portion of the company employees are related to each other and therefore get employment based on that and not actual qualifications for a position. There is also a lot of favoritism and other people get thrown under the bus, so to speak. Nothing changes. Employees who see the truth are basically told to deal with it, instead of supervisors standing up for what's right and how their department is being treated. Trained professionals in certain fields are also not paid worth their market value. I currently make less than an entry level salary for someone in my field today. That is NOT good; excellent work is expected for little in return.

I have worked in multiple call centers.  However, this has to be the most disorganized and cheapest one yet.  Starting pay for any position, including Supervisor is about 20-30% below the industry standard.  Because of this, the company is unable keep talented employees.  Being told, not asked, to work through lunch has become the norm, and mandatory overtime is quickly following.  Training consists of recieving hand-outs, and told to see your supervisor if you have any questions.  80% of promotions are at the same rate of pay, or a drop in pay if you have recieved any merit raises.  And, any promotions into management are handled behind closed doors via office politics instead of being open to all qualified applicants.  Also, given the size of the company, the only affordable option on the benefits (insurance), has a $6000 individual/family deductible. (you read that correctly)  Also, additional responsibilites are requested of the talented individuals, without an increase in pay.  These are presented as temporary, but often become permanent.  You will recieve most holidays off with paid leave, but those are drying up as the third party clients are demanding more from this company.

First, the pay is absolutely terrible. You’re paid well below market value. If you’re trying to support a family, you won’t be able to do it unless your spouse has a job that pays very well.

You’re expected to blindly follow orders even if what you’re doing is going to drive the company into the ground. You may have seen our commercial on direct tv and understand. Don’t try to offer any advice or you’ll be considered a “negative” employee for trying to help.

To make you feel better about yourself, the owner collects cars and keeps some in the garage to show off to everyone. That way you can see how much money he makes while all our benefits are stripped away from us and you’re struggling to buy groceries for your family.

If you’re friends with the CEO you’ll be able to get promoted quickly through the company as long as you pretend to care even if you don’t know what you’re doing. Some departments have several promotions every year while others that do more work have only had 1 promotion in about 5 years cause they don’t have anyone in the inner circle.

This company is run on empty promises, nepotism and delusion. Stay far away.

You might start at Careington thinking you are joining a fun, collaborative team led by professional management who foster an environment of mutual respect and encouragement and embrace innovative thought. 

What you get is an environment of almost constant panic, as talented workers race to keep up with the last-minute demands of a disorganized upper management, while sub-par employees are promoted because they sit down, shut up, and smile. 

It is truly an endless cycle of "urgent" projects thrown at employees by an array of micromanaging individuals who do not hesitate to point fingers when things don't go their way. Quality work is not rewarded, in fact, it is often discouraged, because it gets in the way of what the management wants – which is to produce as much cash as possible as quickly as possible, because their Visa bill is here and they spent too much at Nordstrom.

You're overworked and under paid. Raises are far in between, if you're even lucky to get one. Commissions start off good but when you start to get trained on other skill sets the commissions slowly fade away. The work load between reps are not equal. Some reps may be on 1-3 skill sets getting lots of sales and commissions while the rep sitting right next to you may be on 9-12 skill sets barely getting a sale. Upper management is always talking about making a change to balance the workload and nothing has happened yet. Management have their picks. Basically when you're hired it's generally for the closing shift but, if you go to the right person and tell them the right story you're able to move to an earlier shift. Seniority is the policy that the company state they go by but that's not necessarily true. Maybe this is some of the reason why there's a high turnover rate besides the low payment compensation.

For me, the biggest perk of working with Careington is the time off policy. Depending on your years with the company, you get minimum 19 to max of  44 days of PTO.  That  is nearly  4-9 weeks off paid!  That is topped off with 15 paid Holidays.   
The company promotes from within and 90% of the call center leadership started on the phones. It seems like every month, someone is being promoted either to higher roles in the call center or being promoted to other departments in the company...  Call center work requires a certain level of discipline as  breaks and lunches are scheduled.  But,  Exceed goals and get rewarded with visa gift cards just for doing your job!

You get (well, get sort of) a paycheck.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Micromanagement. Bad management. Dealing with middle school attitudes and office cliques

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very middle school like. Cliques. Favoritism. Promoting employees isn't done by seniority or work quality, but by how tight the employee is with management.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
 Very stressful. Irate clients, little managerial assistance and takes an extremely long time to get assistance when you do get it.

Don't work here. 

The compensation is twenty to thirty percent below industry standard. That isn't for call center or janitorial staff, but for skilled positions such as web developers, copywriters, implementation specialists etc.. 

If you aren't sleeping with your boss, or a family friend you won't get promoted. Nepotism is rampant throughout this company. 

Any changes that are suggested are ignored or seen as a personal attack. Because of this, you will be punished for trying to implement anything that could benefit the company. The moral is horrible as well. People quit weekly.

Careington International was a good place to work - senior executives seen in-office, CEO knew many employee names, benefits, pay scale and holiday calendar quite generous.  

Then Careington began to grow more and more rapidly.  And the culture started to change.  Gone were the casual corridor encounters with chairman or CEO, onsite employee and quarterly department events.  Work became reactive rather than pro-active.  Nepotism was rampant.  The divide between executives and the rest of the company became more pronounced.

Careington is well on the way to becoming just another small-but-growing corporation that lost itself.

It is honestly a privilege to work with this wonderful company. Like any other jobs, there will be bad days, no doubts about that. I have never worked for a company that takes such good care of their employees. The hard part is learning to not people get to you; customers or callers. Adapting can be a challenge but when you soak all the knowledge in, it will be autopilot from there. Name me a job that will reward you with Andrew Jacksons for having perfect attendance, good quality assurance, and adherence? I'll wait.
