Working at Caremark Swansea since December as a care assistant has been an incredibly fulfilling experience. Each day begins with a team huddle to review the day’s client visits. A typical day involves driving to client homes across Swansea, arriving prepared with personalised plans, medication reminders, personal care support, and compassionate conversation. Travel time is balanced with short breaks, and the schedule is managed efficiently to avoid rush.
Over the months I’ve worked here, I’ve learned vital skills: developing strong care‑planning by understanding individual needs, improving time management and route planning, mastering safe manual handling techniques, and honing clear communication with both clients and families. I’ve grown deeply in empathy and adaptability.
The management at Caremark Swansea is consistently approachable and supportive. They organise regular supervisions and welcome feedback. Whenever new procedures or client needs arise, managers step in promptly with guidance and ensure training and updates are delivered.
The workplace culture is inclusive and supportive—colleagues collaborate, share tips, and check in on well‑being. There’s a real emphasis on respect and dignity for clients, and this extends to how staff support one another. Morale is high and everyone feels part of a shared mission.
The hardest part of the job is balancing back‑to‑back appointments on high‑need days—especially when unexpected delays arise. It can be emotionally heavy, particularly when navigating complex client situations or end‑of‑life care. That said, this challenge is tempered by strong peer and management support.
The most enjoyable part of the job is the meaningful connection with clients: helping someone regain independence, brightening their day with a chat or a laugh, and knowing you’ve truly made a difference. What is the best part of working at the company?
Is very nice working with them, they really care for their workers, And they always provide you with the necessary equipment to work with , And whenever you call for emergency or assistant, they are always there to assist

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
one of the most stressful part of working at the company is having to inform a family member that their loved one has passed away. Anything you say may possibly come across as insensitive or impersonal,  another stressful part of the job is that sometimes there some job they will send me to, which maybe difficult for one person, but they will send me to go and do it, because they know that I’m very hardworking and I find it difficult to say no.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I've really thrived in collaborative environments. I prefer a setting where everyone's input is taken into consideration because I believe approaching any project with a range of perspectives is better in the long run.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day in the company is all about care  bathing, client dressing them make there meal preparation, offer companionship  to them ,give them emotional support just to make sure they fine, and also make sure dear environments are clean and convenient for them to stay.

Im gonna start off by saying the job is so rewarding the clients will try and look after you better then your own management team when they can see you are being over worked or you are unwell, there was a situation when i was poorly in a clients home and were as a company were always understaffed, although the office is always fully staffed they way they helped me were to give me an 11 hour shift instead of 12, this is outrageous behaviour, also you get minimal training for one day and then you are expected to work on your own if you need help and call the office they aren’t interested or if you help them out by covering a day you aren’t meant to be working and theres a situation out of your control where you need the day off they will show no interest, hoists are never used with 2 members of staff when by law they should be and my mental health deteriorated by the lack of support of the office and the “ manager”, if the carers didn't help and look out for each other like we did then i wouldn’t have got through the length of time i stayed at the job i did which the office also had an issue with, save yourself the hassle and work for a company where the management actually manage your workload and a care company that care because this one doesn’t !!! 

I’ve worked in two branches in total of 5 years  (Aylesbury and mid sussex and Crawley)  both companies work slightly differently but overall, I loved working in both. If I was to pick one it will have to be mid sussex and Crawley, reasons for this is they have provided sufficient travel time and provided parking permits in restricted areas which the Aylesbury branch didn’t. 
Both branches have excellent management teams, they do listen to you if you have any concerns and the most important thing is that they never shouted at you. 
Only problem is probably the amount of staff turnover and because of this hours can go up and down drastically. Or when a client goes into hospital, or when they bring new clients, hours can also go up and down

Support for staff, training and open communication. Making sure staff are happy is very important to them x

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Sometimes drive time and back and forth to areas can be tiring, however they are more than happy to help with this and discuss and change where they can.

Supportive and fun and staff are as important if not more than the clients

However I want it ti be! 
Basically I go from job to job with breaks if I request more, I get more.

I worked as a health care assistant. All the caregivers were very nice, but my roster changed all the time, even the same day. Coordinators are rude if you can’t help them working extra hours, been able to work in your day off or going far away for one or two clients. 
Usually, weekends are the busiest days and they can make the calls shorter than normal (if one call is 45 mins, they reduce to 30 mins) but you still have to do the same tasks. And sometimes they leave just one career in double calls.
I saw a supervisor twice in about a year. If you need to communicate with them , is nearly impossible . They are not nice neither.
And for sure, you can’t get sick or have a problem, they ll be very rude if you can’t go work for any reason

You don't get paid for trading, I enjoy my work has a carer, but place is run badly, you have ppl shadow you to learn and next you lose hours has they have some of usual calls, holiday pay is less than your day rate would be, letter are always sent from work place pension because they haven't paid money stopped from your wages into your pension, they are running 3 months behind, some have contracts of gauranteed hours a some on 0 contracts, everyone has different pay rates, I found out an unqualified carer was being paid more than myself yet I have experience , only pay 20p a mile petrol and they add the milage which is always short of the milage u actually do

I have been with Caremark just shy of 9 months and my time has been a great experience. The directors are hands on and very supportive, the company have offered training, growth and job security through a tough time (COVID-19). I have been office based and have been working alongside a great team. The company is well run with good, kind people. The care team are amazing, as are the clients. I have a work/life balance and find my managers are very understanding especially due to myself having a one year old little boy and returning to work following maternity leave in 2020.

The training. Everything else is quite poor

The sickness, the amount of staff that went sick daily.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Strained, customers not having the call times, some being forgotten. To much management and not enough staff

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful and very hard work, you work from 7am till 10.30pm. Having a break if your lucky from 2.30 till 3.30/4.

I have worked for Caremark Rother for almost 2 years. The management are
friendly and supportive. There is always someone at the end of the phone
when needed. The pay is better then most homecare companies. Flexible
working hours which has been brilliant for myself juggling work and family
life with young children. Caremark are always offering ongoing training
opportunities which for myself have been very useful, currently I am
undertaking my Level 3 in Health and Social Care through Caremark.
