The boutique I worked at in general gave me so many false promises and high hopes about the position I worked under. My very first interview I was told I would immediately get bonuses upon achieving my monthly goals. I did so my very first month, and I never got my bonus because I was a seasonal - they never told me this during the interview. In fact, the first 3 months I got ZERO benefits because technically I was a seasonal which sucked. I wasn't eligible for the permanent position until 5 months in, who would want to work that long with no bonuses? None of the managers were ever on the same page and none ever had a clue about anything, and they only respected you and left you alone when you were generating half a mil to the boutique every month. I stuck around and ended up working as an assistant because of how understaffed they were, they never cared to start hiring more people (they would never come to the floor and support either, just hide in their offices and sip their iced coffees) so it took me away from my actual position, therefore I was not able to make my goals. I was nagged at and micromanaged like no other - and it felt extremely discouraging because of how much effort I'd put in. I'd like to see the managers step on the floor for once and put in some actual work. They wouldn't last a day. Also, they were not willing to pay for employee parking, even though every other store in the mall was paying for their employees. I got a job offer elsewhere and immediately quit - my mental and emotional health has improved so much ever since.

While expectations were laid out and that the job was not promising full time, I assumed if I came in and was top 3 (which I was consistently ) the whole time …. That there would be a good chance. I left a great full time job with amazing benefits… and was not chosen (5 others were). I was left with no work and nothing for my family and while I treasure the experience it really bummed me out. And it would have been nice if they could have given me a reason why people who sold less were chosen but not me. It is what it is. I wish I could have stayed and made a life long place for myself but maybe that just wasn’t meant to be. 

My thing too is… for the amount each team makes per month, even in the slow parts of the year should be covered to bring people on full time. 

Truly sad it didn’t work out. I am not meant for temp or seasonal positions. 

Overall the company is great, the people are great, and if you do make it to full time I am told the other benefits are pretty awesome too. 

A typical day at work for me would be to run reports and advise my watchmaker on what the status of the repairs are. Recieving in all repairs, jewelry, and stock items. Shipping out all stock and repairs via Dunbar, Fedex, or Brinks. Coordinating with corporate office on inter-office transfers and sales. Managing co-workers client reports, so they can get back to clients in a timely manner. Also traveling the southeast coast to train and set up new boutiques with SAP and email. Train new employees with back office proceedures and policys. Coordinate special events with coorporate and execute efficiantly. THe hardest part of my job was to manage sales staff to execute the policys properly, but in due time all staff acknowledged new proceedures. I enjoyed every part of my job, from the traveling to the events, and dealing with the sales associates and assisting in sales.

Servicing clients while building client base with every transaction
building relationships with clients, learning operational skills. Management could have a better balance of understanding all needs of the business while building cliental. Having the resources to continue to succeed could be challenging at times. Up to date product knowledge books, computer systems, etc are a challenge to preform your daily functions in a sufficient manner. I enjoy most interacting with my clients and having retention and an excellent relationship. Being able to service people for their engagement, having them come back for wedding bands, their first anniversary gift, first new born, etc is a very rewarding part of my job

The store is beautiful, the merchandise is breath taking. Cartier history and the story behind their creations is very interesting to me. I was a client of the store prior to working there. Assisting all visitors who enter the store by asking what brought them in, sharing the Cartier story was a great enjoyment in my day in the boutique. 

The most unfortunate part of working with Cartier was the management had little interaction with the team. The team is left to fend for themselves with little to no guidance from the manager. The overall environment was rather individual than team. 

The company provides great benefits to their associates and is owned by Richemont, NA.

My typical day at work is to help sales associates provide luxury service to the clients, including general boutique organization and up-keep, and translating for customers from China, Japan and Korea who do not speak English. 
In Cartier, I learned how to translate languages simultaneously and how to manage my work in a more efficient way. 
My co-workers are very nice and decent people who have been working in retails for many many years. 
The most enjoyable part of the job is that I can utilize my language skills to help sales associates and their clients. I enjoy the fulfillment when they are able to communicate well with my help.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Helping clients tell the stories of each piece. Great company with beautiful products. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Bad management no support too much politics even you tried but it's never enough for them.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very busy sometimes no time to eat lunch, under staff. Management just sits in her chair never come out to help.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy with phone calls following up with clients customer service with watch repairs.

What is the best part of working at the company?
You are just a number for them. They don’t care about people. Never provide trainings and never promote hard working people. I love the brand but the 5th Ave location is a nightmare. Management only care about themselves. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Terrible environment. Turnover is crazy. Very transactional. Money comes first, people come last. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They don’t really have a culture, just a big factory no team spirit at all.

The boutique manager assisted in day to day operations of the boutique. Responsibilities included set-up of the boutique, scheduling, coaching, staff observation interacting with clients, reporting to store director.
I received hands-on experience working with a high net worth client and developed an appreciation for the luxury jewelry and timepiece collections.
The position could be difficult to effectively find time to coach as you were constantly interrupted due to smaller space of the boutique.

Most work day are packed with work barely time to take a lunch and complete all daily assignments in a timely manner.  I learned how to manage my time and work load and the work ethic needed to succeed.  Great co-workers overall.  Hardest part was getting everything you needed to do daily done and still have some type of home life.  The best part of this job were getting to work with an overall good company with great benefits and people i learned a lot from.
