The training was not comprehensive enough to cover the variety of patients. Management expects you to know what to do in cases they deem problematic without sharing with you the criteria is for stable vs. unstable patient. 
Training is quick and lackadaisical. No going through a 5 inch thick manual. They do go over IT, but not much consideration of the acuity of the patient is and whether or not it should be in the company's care. Also, all home health agencies are competing against each other to sign up the  the recently discharged patient, so there is a "mad rush" to try to get the patients signed on and this is disruptive to the patient and/or family members when they receive multiple calls, but welcome to the world of home health!

Management is not realistic in terms of what it wants and needs  and wings it for the most part. One's experience depends on who they see so you may have an easy visit or a challenging one that requires a lot more time and resources but often is not equipped to meet the needs of such patients. 

Management is unable to cluster visits properly so you may spend up to 2 hours per day in public transportation trying to make your visits by setting up 6 to 8 visits per day when 3 to 4 is more realistic, but it is all about the  Benjamins when it comes to home health.  

A typical day at work settling in planning my work for the day always busy , and anticipating all new challenges that may come my way. Learned how to transfer electronic billing through WebMD, a new software we had to use to submit electronic billing of all HMOs. Management was very pleasant to work for, we would attend weekly meetings to follow-up on any cases that we would have difficulty collecting monies from, and/or any problems that would arise. My co-workers were a pleasure to work with we were like family in the office ,and with our residents. The hardest part of my job was not being able to express my input on a situation that could benefit the facility. The most enjoyable part of my job was being able to closely interact with the residents & their families.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Don’t even waste your time. This place needs to be shut down. The administrator creates the most toxic environment I have ever worked in. She is a bully. The company does not care about the patients/residents. All they care about is $$$$.  There are a handful of good nursing/CNA staff, the rest are only there for a paycheck and are not kind to the patients. There are several that need to be investigated properly and terminated. Cassena has a way of making things disappear.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Never enough staff, schedules with holes in them and the scheduler puts names on schedule to make it look fully staffed  leaving the ones that do show up extremely overworked. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic.  This environment is the definition of toxic. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressful. Never enough staff to be able to your job sufficiently.

Enjoyable but stressful at times. I have learned very much working there. I am open minded and willing to learn more when ever they needed me I stepped in and worked to the fullest I am sure they would say that I was a very hard worker. My co-workers were great we all got along very well. The hardest part is when the transferred me from Medicaid Coordinator cause I was new at that and just getting very good at it when they needed me to step into the business office. I have never did that part of it before but after 3 months became good at that and then they offered me to be Medicaid Biller also which I started becoming very good at until the facility closed down due to Hurricane Sandy. Most enjoyable part of the job was working with the residents' I have been in this field a long time and putting a smile on someone's face when it is the last place they are going to live and helping in anyway made me happy.

I didn’t think employers like this still existed. The owner of Cassena is a millionaire and became one by running his nursing homes on shoestring budgets. He buys non profit facilities and converts them to for profit. He hires incompetent, unprofessional administrators who all seem to come from facilities that failed inspections. He also makes unannounced visits and proceeds to scream at staff. Turnover is higher here than any other place I worked. They thrive on nepotism. The staff, residents and their families all have remarked on how quality of care has gone downhill since the change in ownership. Cassena facilities have been in the news a lot lately for their poor quality of care and they have been subject to heavy fines and sanctions. Don’t bother taking any type of job at any Cassena facility because you’ll be looking to leave shortly if they don’t fire you first.

A typical day at work consist of taking care of all patients ,preventing falls,taking vital signs,smiling and laughing with the patient,making beds,bathing patients,giving bed pans,monitoring all patients,answering all call bells,working along side the floor nurse.I have learned that  patience is a virtue not easily required but is a beneficial attribute.Management was very understanding very caring about their staff. As with any job there are those that love their job and those that just want the money.The hardest part of my job is watching the patients suffer with pain. The most enjoyable part of is bringing a smile to my patient and knowing that i have done some good for someone other than myself.

I was hired as an Administrator for this facility which only lasted less than 6 months.  The ownership and senior leadership dont care about  their staff and management team.  The doctors that work for this organization are careless and don't see patients when they need to, which results in further hospitalization and stress for the family.  For instance, the doctor documented that he saw the patient in the EMR but actually never touched or seen the patient.  The quality of care and life is extremely poor.  I dont understanding how such a filthy place can be open for business and take care of very sick, vulnerable patients.  They only care about the Medicare dollars and don't advocate for patient rights and care.

Keep your loved ones away from this disorganized, filthy place

of the bat this place is a worst then jail .. theres times where situation happens and they don't report it. like a resident get pushed off a bed and told family members that they rolled off. its to the point where they will work you to death and not offer any help at all. always short staffed and they still expect you to take care of 15 residents while fight crime at the same time . Don't even bother asking for time off because its like a curse word for them. The Union Rep is no help at all . instead of having your back like they are supposed to they act like they the managers them selves so save your trouble and don't work here. P.S if you do decide to work here full time, say good bye to your weekends. In order to work full time you have to work every weekend for two years until you are able to switch to every other weekend.

ZERO Stars! Stay away!  Horrible, unprofessional work environment where the owners communicate very little and very poorly with the "peon" employees.  One of the owners screams, curses and yells at employees, and another owner seems to enjoy intimidating, humiliating and degrading employees in front of each other.  

The owners think that creating a fearful, demeaning work environment will make employees work harder.  They couldn't be more wrong.

If you are educated and professional do not even consider this place, they will chew you up and spit you out.  They seem to value low class, crude, unprofessional people over honest employees who actually have an education and valuable experience. 

I have heard that this company is no stranger to the Department of Labor.
