Overall, my experience at Catapult was a good one. The hours were great, the work load was fair and my co-workers were very pleasant and always willing to lend a hand. My main issue was my manager/supervisor. Most days, she was very pleasant and easy to get along with, however on days that proved to be a bit stressful for her (be it from inside or outside the workplace), she would become a bit passive aggressive in her communication, if not downright unprofessional. With that said, I always remained professional, respectful and never had a real issue with her until my very last day.

Today, I gave her my resignation notice, stating my last day to be next Friday, April 5. She immediately told me today could be my last day, quickly walked out of the conference room and told me to email her my resignation.

As I began typing my resignation back at my desk, I notice all of my password prompts appearing, which indicated that I had been signed out. I quickly found out that I had been completely shut out of everything (slack, outlook, Nextiva Faxes, etc). When I called her from the office phone and asked her about this, she said the IT Department must have shut it down right away and since they had done so, I could go ahead and just leave. I did not get to even email my resignation. 


When I told her I wanted to work until next Friday, she told me no and that she didn’t trust me to work in Faxes (Nextiva) anymore. I asked her why not and she cited errors that have been made as far as input accuracy and she assumed I was not going to do my job on my final days, saying I have “checked out” by resigning and that “we can just end things now.” 

We had a discussion about my mistakes, to which I asked her if trust was THIS much an issue, why didn’t she tell me. She replied that she has always been skeptical of my work, yet she checks it every day and has never questioned my abilities to this magnitude before this day. Never. Even in our monthly/bi-monthly meetings where we would discuss performance, she would give constructive and fair criticism and always ended with saying that I am doing a good job, that I am a valued team member and that she wanted everyone in Support to remain on the team. Never did she stress an extremely high or a severe lack of trust before the day I put in my notice, which speaks to what I feel is her passive-aggressive nature. Only when she is highly upset does she use your mistakes against you. Any other time, things are fine. 

After our phone conversation, she then came over to my desk and escorted me out the front door.

My unexpected final moments at Catapult were gravely disappointing.  The way I was treated by my supervisor was completely unprofessional and unwarranted. I did not get to say goodbye to the great group of individuals I had the pleasure of working beside everyday, nor express my gratitude for being given an opportunity at the company. All because my manager/supervisor did not take the news of my resignation well. Very unprofessional and very rude.

A typical day at work involves traveling to your clinic site, unloading equipment, setting up, and performing health check-ups for insured employees, their spouses, or retirees. Every month or so, you’re required to undergo a performance evaluation—a largely unproductive exercise, as there are no tangible incentives to excel beyond avoiding termination. No raises or rewards are offered.

Throughout this role, I have gained deeper insights into the medical field and biometrics.

Management, however, is either overwhelmed by upper leadership or simply indifferent, leaving little room for competence. Many of the capable and sensible employees have since left. Team leads, clinic leads, and technicians are frequently blamed for equipment malfunctions or for procedures that sound promising in theory but fall apart in practice. As a lower-level worker, you are almost guaranteed to bear the brunt of management’s mistakes. There is a distinct lack of professionalism at times, as management is often allowed to make errors with no repercussions, while team leads, clinic leads, and technicians are penalized for even minor infractions. Additionally, there is little regard for employees’ personal lives despite the PRN nature of the position. At Catapult, you’re not seen as an individual, but merely as a worker. It’s worth noting they also require you to sign a non-compete agreement just to be hired.

The workplace culture feels disingenuous. Supervisors and staff coaches micromanage when idle and selectively enforce policies based on personal preferences.

The most challenging part of the job: While accommodations such as hotels, rental cars (which must be shared with coworkers, limiting your freedom to explore independently), and flights are covered, many expenses fall on the employee. You’re responsible for gas, hotel incidentals (which can range from $30 to $300 at multiple hotels per week), and other out-of-pocket costs. These expenses can quickly add up, and though they are reimbursed, it’s only after a waiting period until your next paycheck. If you’re in need of immediate income, this is not the job for you. You’re essentially required to spend money to make money, and the salary hardly covers these initial expenses.

The most enjoyable aspect of the job is the opportunity to travel, occasionally sightsee, and meet people from diverse backgrounds.

The job was fun and fulfilling- initially. The employee turn over rate seems rather high, and now I know why. There is a major disconnect between "coaches", leads, and management. Perhaps this is so because they are based in Dallas and operate all over the U.S. There are many things which could easily be resolved, such as issues with operations. They are clearly not accustomed to working with nurses (non-licensed folks perform finger sticks in other states), because we were treated as if we did not know how to care for patients. We made new suggestions, they were used, and did not get any credit. They did not adhere to California labor laws; we would work six consecutive hours without a 10 min. break, we were told where not to go for our 30 minute lunch, etc. Once they hired a highly immature individual, I decided that this was not worth it. I was no longer happy in the redundancy of the position or the workplace environment.

This is a really cool company to work for. I love the clients and companies we set up wellness events for. The only thing that bothered me was how they do the reimbursements. You get a rental car w/ gas reimbursement and hotel room with per diem a night if you have to travel 75 miles or more for an event. If you travel 74 miles, which is 148 miles both ways, you don't get mileage or gas reimbursement, which in most cases, you'll have an event for 2 days or more and drive 148 miles each day. Before you accept an assignment, I suggest you check the mileage between your home and the event. If you like to travel, this is definitely the job for you, they'll fly you (using connecting flights) to different states for events. Make sure you keep majority of the month open and accept assignments often, if you don't they'll take you off the schedule, in other words FIRE you!!

I was very unhappy with the people I had to work with. They were very childish and very unprofessional. These were the people that I had to rely on for instructional teaching and to review my work???
I tried my best to go to work and I am usually very reliable and very loyal but once I was there I found it very hard to work with these individuals and I could no longer go to work with them.
They played loud music and spoke so unprofessional and disrespectful to one another in front of clients and they were just very unfair. Some people had to work very hard while others got to sit around and do their hair and put their makeup on? They even sat at the front greeting people while they were eating?
Never ever have I worked with people like this.

Traveling and meeting new people

Gaining more medical experience with with finger sticks and piccolo machine and collecting data 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I love it you have to be flexible and fast pace at times! Culture of this company was very laid back as long as you did your job and team work and supportive

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
traveling, going to clinical sites loading and unloading equipment time management within seeing patients, collecting blood assisting patients with question on health questionnaire, moving onto the next patient to keep the flow of clinic and at times, having to jump in other stations to keep flow

Max hrs of per day whether you go over or not. Racism reported by multiple employees on a Team Lead still has a job. Retaliation abundant throughout Company, coaches do not verify accusations prior to write up even when you give them your witnesses names. They give the accusers name to the person who has been reported, knowing there’s no way this person want retaliate on that person, seen it first hand. I vouched for this Lead and now I know why this person felt the way she did. I finally saw the Lead who I admired wanted to be like her and now disappointed in her. I reported this to Louisiana staff coach and the accuser received a right up over something she didn’t do. I’m starting back to school and want return back there due to what I saw, experienced myself to  made to be stupid with this other person.

There has been a mass exodus of executives, managers of various depts, Nurse Practitioners,  Team Leads and Health Technicians.  Most everyone who left within the corporate bldg said they left because of a “ toxic work environment “.   In the field the 3 immediate bosses to the Team Leads and Health Technicians have NO managerial experience nor medical backgrounds !   Communication at best is poor from Clinical Manager on down.  Policies change without notice,  you just find out when you find out.  Work is not guaranteed and you need to be available 4 days a week which includes Saturdays but that’s very rare.    

I loved working here. The hours were ok. We worked from about 5:30 am-2pm. It gave me time to have a normal life after work. But there were only certain days we could work. They would email us about 2-3 weeks in advance to advise us what days were available for work and we could decide what clinics we would like to work. The hard part about this job was unloading all the equipment and loading it back in the truck. This job requires you to go to places to give patients blood analysis for their convenience. During clinic it was great. We would see a patient every 15 minutes and check their BMI and blood test. I loved it. But once again, there were many days we did not have any work.

There is no room for job advancement or raises. Management is hard to get in contact with and are nonchalant when they do reply. This job would be idealistic for someone who is retired or doesn't have a problem with taking chances on their bills. Staffing was always unfair. Sometimes you get 5 days in a week and sometimes you get 1 day. When you ask for more work, they hit you with "This is a PRN position, and the hours aren't guaranteed". They expect you to adapt to changes that they wouldn't even be willing to adapt to. We also did not get any breaks in our schedules so every day is overwhelming.
