Decent for building lab experience to find a better opportunity. Relies on people not knowing how bad it is to get new employees so they can continue getting away with running the company the way they do.

The pay here is low and the raises are so low they are basically insignificant. For the most part they keep pace with inflation so you're effectively making the same amount every year. New people that have been hired recently have had their pay increased to 10-50 cents below what it took me and others to reach over the course of 2-3 years.

Raises are supposedly dictated by performance reviews but the review system is largely just for show. Managers are told that employees cannot ever receive the highest rating possible for specific sections of the review. A self-assessment is performed by the employee to rate their own performance and justify their rating. Even with detailed examples and being publicly recognized by the department my most recent raise was lower than the one prior. My manager also was talked about how everyone needs to work on doing a certain task that I outlined that I did multiple times within the last year, which suggested to me that she didn't even review my self-assessment.

Generally the hiring practice is to grab people either still in school or freshly out of school who do not know their value so the company can keep their pay low. Occassionally, older individuals with a lot of work experience are hired regardless of if they've done anything similar to the work that the company does. These older individuals are paid more than people who have earned degrees and are more qualified and capable of doing the job.

There are virtually no opportunities for advancement here. Title and pay increases are constantly something that you will be told senior management will not allow. It's also something you will be told that management within the building are fine with or actively fighting for. How much truth there is to that is unknown but I wouldn't be surprised if it was an exaggeration. 

Communication here is pretty atrocious. It is not uncommon to be spending as much as half the day waiting for higher ups and management to figure out what they want or what they want you to do. This often leads to long days where you are expected to still complete the work. They will say that they will be flexible if you aren't able to stay at work because your work will keep you here a long time. They will also in the same conversation aggressively inquire about why you can't do that assignment today. You will be scrutinized over everything you did so they can try to find a way to make it your fault. This is despite it frequently being their fault either from trying to unrealistically push things through for deadlines or frankly not having any knowledge of how long things take. There have been times where I have said I can't do something been scrutinized and then the next day got a passive-aggressive comment on how I can't do what I was originally scheduled to do that day because yesterday's project is behind. This is despite plenty of time being available on the schedule before the deadline is missed.

Management want as much as 2 months notice for vacation requests. There have been instances where I have notified my manager 2-3 months in advance only to have the schedule still not changed a week before the vacation. When this was brought up to my manager she said she didn't have an email about it, but a couple weeks later I found the email I sent her months ago.

Passive-aggressiveness and pettiness are fairly common here. Overall, the work culture is pretty toxic with certain people that talk poorly and bad mouth other people constantly. Some of these people are higher ups or friends with management or higher ups which insulates them from being reprimanded or from people even complaining about these people in the first place.

If you need a “Job” post high school or while going to college/ university and trying to get into Nursing, PA, Medical or any healthcare education this job is good for you. You’ll be able to write Clinical Research as your work experience and you’ll gain the basic exposure for you to be comfortable in your post grad education. 

However, this job has A-LOT of red flags!  starting with the biased and clicky coworker environment that can get pretty toxic. It’s like being in high school all over again. From your coworkers to your Team Leads. It’s basically survival of the fittest. if they like you - you’re saved (being advanced in training, promoting to higher position, if you have a query - if your team lead likes you or if you’re part of their click they’ll help you) BUT if you don’t “fit in” forget getting promoted, or getting the opportunity to jump on training opportunities! I know it sounds crazy but it’s the truth and it’s happened to many of us. Some people are genuinely nice for example the nurses are always helpful. 


 They expect you to work hectic hours while understaffed and still expect you to have ZERO QUERIES .   Your schedule will get pretty hectic so be prepared to be overwhelmed and get use to independent. Also don’t be surprised if CCO’s try to add more events to your schedule, sometimes they really are understaffed but other times it’s just so they can get rid of their own events.  

Like I said, if you are planning on working temporarily then it’s fine but be careful if you want this to be your career path, it will get drain mentally, emotionally and physically. 

I enjoy the people I get to work with. For the most part, everyone in my position is great and we all have similar goals and interests. However great coworkers DO NOT make up for the lack of compensation and grueling work. Not coming from the medical field at all previous to working here I knew there would be some new things I would just have to put up with. Some days as a CCA are very chill and easy. However, I did not expect to be put in situations where I am picking up a large amount of slack because of a coworker calling out or having insanely packed schedules that require me to work none stop at a high pace because of management/scheduling took on too much work. The 16$ plus benefits were very appealing to me at the start I had never been paid this much for a job that was not construction. However, after 1 year and 6 months, I still have yet to see a raise. It seems the only way you can get more money is to get hired for higher-paying positions in the company (yet the hiring for these positions is often given to outside people). Companies I worked at prior to Celerion would often hold 3-month reviews where they tell you how they think you are doing as an employee then they offer some type of raise. I do not think i have ever been reviewed by my higher ups or even ever heard mention of anyone getting a raise. 

I have been employed with Celerion, a Phase 1 Clinical Trails Facility, as a Clinical Scheduler, Clinical Resource Specialist, and a Screening Associate. 
I have strong computer proficiencies in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook which I used on a regular basis to create templets and time tracking spread sheets. As a Scheduler/Staff Coordinator my responsibilities include:
•	Assign an appropriate task to a staff member base on their abilities and clinic needs on a daily basis
•	Maintain their hours and overtime to a minimum
•	Generate an error free computerized schedule
Previously, at Celerion I have taken additional responsibilities as a Clinical Resource Specialist while working as a screening associate.  In these positions, I demonstrated various abilities like:
•	As a Clinical Resource Specialist,  resolved many equipment related issues and complaints, scheduled an outside venders for mid yearly and yearly maintenance, keep all maintenance logs current & computerized with a minimum audit findings, & answer all client and FDA audit questions
•	As a screening associate, performed taking ECGs, Vital signs, drawing blood, and collecting urine samples & processing them any given time 
In short, I gained considerable amount of experience and skills within the company while accepting new challenges.  Please see the accompanying resume for details.  I am confident that I can succeed as a Scheduler as well as provide the superior communication and problem-solving skills you are seeking.

This is not a workplace that I would recommend to friends or to family. Besides the obvious cliques and gossipy atmosphere throughout those who work here, the schedulers and overall management is very unorganized. The management and CCO's discuss matters together and spread rumors to others without talking about these matters with the people these rumors are about. They whisper and talk around before they before actually discussing with the employees or giving them any warnings first before they fire them abruptly. Many people have seen it happen over and over again. Small mistakes on your part or a mistake made by someone that is being trained under your name are grounds to suddenly pull the employment plug for this company. This place is like a revolving door with employees, as they quit or get fired at one of the fastest rates I've ever seen. The work itself is good, but they try to pass people off on trainings before they are truly ready to do an event by themselves. Then they get angry and reprimand the employee for making a mistake. If you're absolutely perfect and okay with fixing other people's' mistakes at the same time, you're perfect for this highly disordered company. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Pay is good but the management system is trash. Very young and inexperienced. Everyone is on a power trip. The employees are like a revolving door. They fire people for minor mistakes they make themselves but nothing happens to them. HR is only there to help the company not the employee in any way. Walking around on eggshells waiting for the day they fire you over miniscule data errors is no way to work. And no im not a bitter employee. I have watched them fire over 30 people in 2 months. And hire brand new employees that have no training or experience. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Walking around on eggshells to try to be perfect with no error while you watch errors being made from the higher ups with no consequences 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Environment is very high school drama scene. Culture is inexperienced and they don't care

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Lack of experience from other employees. Dealing with overload in work some days and the next day can be no work at all.

This company is run so poorly- sometimes took more than a week to hear back from my supervisor for a simple question over email or text. Many times, I went unanswered and gave up on the question all together. Overall poor communication between most employees too, people would often be confused during trial events because someone would change the schedule last minute and forget to tell those affected by it. Frequent last minute changes, having to skip lunch breaks, and stressful work environments that we don't get paid enough to work in. Those who worked during the pandemic did not get hazard pay either. During the time I was there, there was no appreciation for my work even if I had to work overtime or through a difficult problem. Clinical research is genuinely interesting but if you don't want to work in clinical research in the future or need a letter of recommendation for medical school then this place is not worth it. You could get paid more as a receptionist doing a much easier job. 

I want to say that I feel like the managers are doing their best with what they have been given. 

But it seems that there are always a million managers above your direct manager that can truly impact your work experience if there is an issue. and "everyone's hands are tied"

Our competitors are head hunting our best talent for significantly more money at least once every other month, and it's very hard to convince the higher up's that your team is worth the pay increase when the higher up have no clue what you do day-to-day or the level you bring to the company.

The top performers that are left are burnt out and tired of always being in "crunch" mode. As quality naturally slips, we are receiving mixed messages of "unacceptable - do more/better" and "please don't leave you're doing great".

The company touts record-breaking financials and business gains, but is slow and dragging its feet on keeping top talent to retain that success. Loyalty to the company becomes hard when you are getting messages from other competitors daily wanting your talent and is willing to negotiate.

While Celerion is a place where one may learn multiple medical skills (i.e: ECG's, vitals, screening, phlebotomy), it is not a practical company; it does not cater to one's schedule (scheduling outside availabilities, does not give readily give vacation time months in advance, will "schedule you 3 weeks in advance" but you won't receive your schedule till midway from the week before.) 
You will occasionally receive a gap schedule and either work for long periods of time or very short hours. You are not guaranteed hours, yet you must be available for a certain amount. Training is pushed through a small time window, and trainers are not thorough. Their time-card system has it so that it pays you for minimum dollar (each event you work, not for the total amount of hours you have been there, from start to finish.) 
Study managers treat you as an inferior.

This job is not bad. The work is great, as are most of my coworkers, but the "politics" and management "drama" is quite annoying. They say they are flexible, but require an extreme amount of availability (50+ hours per week). That's not to say you will get more than 25 hours each week, you just have to be available for them. Their scheduling team is terrible. They will commonly schedule either extremely long (12+) or extremely short (<1) hour shifts. They also will make you come back to work less than 8 hours after you last left. They get away with this because the law states that you only need an 8 hour break when you work at least 16 hours straight. That being said, there is also a fair amount of advancement opportunity. The pay is also decent. This is a good job if you just want to dip your toes into the medical field.
