Cell Staff is all about numbers, and making sure you hit them. At one point you were or will be forced to share your weekly progress in front of a crowd of at least 10-15, if not 50+ people. It’s slightly humiliating, and if something many recruiters find uncomfortable and quite unnecessary. This is one of many tactics used to “weed” those who aren’t giving their soul to that job at every moment. Another specific tactic used the force you to work on days like the weekend is this 3 day rule in which if you happen to not reach a candidate by the 3rd day a follow coworker and go behind you and take the candidate no matter what the reason may be for not reaching out (Vacation, system failing to properly reach the candidate when message was first sent, etc) 

The management is by far some of the worst I’ve worked with. Reason being, many were just in the right place and the right time. So often, their success came at a time of Covid-19 or prior where opportunities for placement and to make money were in abundance. A similar expectation is then placed on you, and if you do everything asked of you and things still don’t work out, they’ll spin wheels trying to explain what to do and how you could’ve been better. Decisions and how they affect those not in management positions seems not to be considered ever as well. Simply things are just rolled out without any prior knowledge or care for how it affects those making the company turn. 

The well runs dry too, for example where you’re competing to fill in 10 positions, but there could be just the same amount of recruiters on that given account so it becomes oversaturated. 

Best part about CS would be the people you work with. There are absolutely amazing humans a few part of management, but most being entry level employees (Recruiter, Credentialing, etc) that you work side by side daily. CS sales you on the work culture. I can confidently say it’s bologna and has very much become more corporal in their operations and how they see and treat their employees. 

If you are the type that’s into Lulu, Stanley cups, Taylor swift, Golf, Instagram influencers, country music, and any other typical sorority/fraternity activities or interests, you’ll likely fit right in. 

Lastly, you can get away with a lot if you bring in the company money. There’s a few recruiters who are simply questionable in character in the way they speak to others in the office specifically women, and even clients over the phone that should be addressed but isn’t because the of the impact they have. 

If you're seeking a "temp job", this can be a good place to start and build experience. The workplace culture can be toxic as there are people in leadership roles that will intimidate you to work hour/days you did not agree to. Please be aware, leadership will weaponize your position as a contracted employee and threaten to fire you if they do not get what they want from you (working extra hours/days, taking on new projects) even though it is not required in the job description. There are correctional policies in place, but rarely ever is it followed at this facility; so take what you're told with a grain of salt. The "training" period is very short and the department does not have the support to provide adequate resources to walk you through working at a correctional facility. It is imperative that you are a quick learner and grow to have very thick skin in order to work at a correctional facility. It's understandable that some jobs are repetitive and mundane, but can be tolerable. Depending on your priorities and what you're able to tolerate, the people in leadership at this workplace can leave you feeling unappreciated and taken advantage of.

The pay is stable and higher compared to other positions in the area, though you do not receive PTO/sick days, which can be challenging if it is your only source of income. The lack of professionalism and email etiquette from my recruiter was disappointing. The recruiter I had was very hard to get a hold of and/or did not get timely response from regarding pressing issues while working at the facility. Some of my colleagues had to reach out to this recruiter's supervisor in order to get answers. However, the recruiter was conveniently available when it came to submitting time-sheets. If you have this recruiter, please be aware that he is quick and helpful to get you in the door but once you're in, he only contacts you when he needs you.

I was very excited about this job opportunity. So excited in fact, that when the job got pushed off not once, not twice but three times I still held out and turned down other job offers. When I agreed to this job I was told it would be a full time 40hr/wk temporary position, and that the contract was for an assignment lasting from 4-6 months. Once we finally started (after months of waiting) it turned out the duration of the assignment was less than 2 months and when the facilities were on lockdown (something that happens pretty frequently) we were not allowed in nor were we paid for those days. Something Cell Staff conveniently did not disclose to us when we were hired until the first lockdown. So to this day I have not received even one check for the 40 hours/week that I signed on for. The only positive thing about this company is their recruiting team. The recruiters are kind and seem to genuinely care even if they can’t do anything about the  dishonesty of the company’.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Very professional company that reaches out to answer any questions you may have. Pay rate was fair to area. I would work for them again if needed. The only reason I left is that I was hired by the D.O.C.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Time cards were a little time consuming. Had to had staff sign every shift, found that I miss placed it a few times. At the end of the week the supervisor needed to approve and sign. I did not often work with the supervisor. Lots of emails and faxes to deal with weekly. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I worked at a prison. (Need I go into prison environment?) Did not work directly with cell staff employees. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Prison environment nursing. Emergency’s, diabetics, med passes, small infirmary, intake assessments, detox assessments and care.

Cell Staff is an AMAZING company to work for. They offer many opportunities for growth and reward hard work with a bunch of awesome benefits (i.e. free craft coffee, shuffle board, basketball arcade games, happy hours, team outings and if you hit your goal, a yearly cruise to a tropical location!) The environment is fast paced and competitive, but with a family feel. Their open door policy to management lets the team members know that their ideas, feedback and questions are extremely valuable.  The leadership at Cell Staff is second to none! By far THE best place I have ever had the pleasure of working at! Cell Staff is currently hiring, so I would highly encourage you to apply!

Cell staff is a great company to work for.  They have good management that is always responsive to you, great agents who do their very best to get you the job you want, competitive pay, and good benefits (a little pricey but reasonable) even as a contractual nurse.

My recruiter was very professional and always answered my concerns immediately.  I was contacted within an hour of putting in my application and within 2 days I had already finished my interview and had a job offer at one of the places at the top of my list to work at.  I also have the luxury of working overtime as long as my supervisors approve it.

Cell staff really seems to care about their employees and I was very impressed with how quick and effortless they made finding a job that is perfect for me.

I was hired at Cell Staff to work at the company where I'm currently applied directly. The pay was awesome, the highest I've ever had. The recruiter was very nice and easy to talk to. Unfortunately, after the facility gave permission for approved leave very early on (my sister had paid for the whole family to go on a cruise before I got this job), I wound up having a serious medical emergency and surgery out of state and could not make it back in time for my scheduled shift. I contacted Cell Staff, and they eventually told me that the facility did not want to wait for me since I was agency staff. So not Cell Staffs fault, but it's just less secure with an agency  

It was a really nice job at first but then they began changing the rules and protocols. Two years later, they are still changing the rules and  becoming more and more difficult to keep up with the ever changing rules. On ftop of that, they give you sick time but they write you up and chastise you if you ever use it. Now a new rule ad of this week, you get fired if you call out sick 3 times without the “proper 24 hour notice”. Who knows 24 hrs ahead of time if they will be sick or simply can’t make it to work due to emergencies? Don’t work for this company if you are prone to illness!  It’s a circus act. 

I was recruited to work for Cell Staff as a Registered Dietitian for a correctional facility. My recruiter was personable, honest, and looked out for my best interests. 

My recruiter worked diligently to have my start date begin one month after signing my offer. 

Working at a correctional facility was enjoyable, and I enjoyed my interaction with all the staff and inmates. 

Cell Staff was positive in every aspect along my journey - recruiting and quality assurance. I felt very comfortable with this company!

After needing emergency back surgery, I was fired and then rehired… Just to save the cost of health insurance… 80 dollars??? Poor communication regarding duplicate on boarding  requirements! The company policies are much more important than any one employee. Could have filed for unemployment and perhaps that is another reason for the rehire gesture !  Very underhanded shady company if anything happens to the employee while employed .
