Cempa Community Care

I joined Cempa Community Care with enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact in our community. However, after my time here, I feel compelled to share my experience, as I believe it's important for potential employees and leadership to be aware of the challenges we face within the organization.

Regrettably, Cempa Community Care has cultivated a toxic company culture that permeates throughout the organization. There's a palpable sense of negativity and a lack of support, making it challenging for employees to thrive. The atmosphere is rife with tension, and the pervasive sense of competition undermines collaboration, hindering the achievement of shared goals.

One of the most alarming aspects of my time at Cempa has been the consistently high turnover rate. Talented individuals join the organization with great enthusiasm, only to leave disillusioned shortly thereafter. The revolving door of employees not only affects team morale but also jeopardizes the continuity of projects and disrupts the quality of services we strive to provide to our community. The lack of institutional memory due to frequent departures hampers the overall effectiveness of our efforts.

Perhaps the most significant factor contributing to the toxic culture and high turnover is the presence of horrible leadership within the organization. Leadership at Cempa appears disconnected from the needs and concerns of its employees. Decisions are made without transparent communication or consideration for the impact on the team. There is a notable absence of mentorship and guidance, leaving employees feeling abandoned and unsupported.

In conclusion, while I had hoped to contribute meaningfully to the important work of Cempa Community Care, the challenging company culture, high turnover, and inadequate leadership have hindered both personal and meaningful organizational growth. It is my sincere hope that these concerns will be taken seriously and addressed for the betterment of the organization and its employees.


Cempa draws new employees in with the promise of good pay, benefits, and the mission to help others in need. After being employed with them you start to see their true colors. The leadership is disengaged, under qualified, and they will lie and fire you without a performance improvement plan or any opportunity for improvement. The CEO is a disengaged, flakey, and manipulative person. They have had probably 20+ people leave/get let go this past year and that includes people who were managers, directors, and employees that had been there for years. Working for the organization sucks the joy out of your life because you never know what negative thing that will be done or said next. It is extremely disheartening because I think most employees go into this company because they want to help others but because of the terrible culture and lack of care for the employees they end up getting fired or leaving and end up traumatized by their experience. 

I am proud to be part of Cempa Community Care's team.  Cempa has been an integral part of meeting COVID-19 testing challenges in the community over the past year and a half plus.  In addition to meeting community needs, Cempa has continued to focus on the needs of clients and employees.  The last year and a half has been very challenging on many employees and it has been so encouraging that management checks on staff regularly one on one and holds virtual meetings with all staff to stay connected.  

These intentional efforts all point back to Cempa's mission: to champion healthy communities by providing affordable, compassionate, and high-quality care through advancing comprehensive support services and person-centered best practices.

Cempa has done great work for years and truly has impacted our community, however that is being undone by terrible leadership at the executive level. 

There is tons of harassment, bullying and underlying racism throughout the company but especially in the clinic where the "leaders" actively bully coworkers. It is almost inhumane to watch grown adults cry at work because of fear and harassment. Staff are micromanaged and treated like they aren't capable of doing their jobs, and like they are disposable. Clients are suffering because of this - quality of care is declining due to only focusing on numbers. 

The CEO knows these problems exist, but turns a blind eye and is almost completely absent from the organization, and prevents any staff from interacting with the board of directors. 

If you want to work here, you have to kiss up to the managers, otherwise you will have a target on your back. They will give you so many job responsibilities and promise help, but never hold true to their promises. Management is clueless on how to actually manage that office. The managers walk around doing NOTHING while you struggle. Micromanaging is an understatement. HR is a joke-if you have documentation proving mismanagement, it goes unaddressed. Luckily for this company, TN is a “right to work state” and no one can touch them unless it has to do with race, religion etc…. They can purposely retaliate and hold you to rules that don’t apply to anyone else and they can’t be touch.  You can work your tail off and be great at your job, but none of that matters unless you stay on the managers good side. 

I dont have a Review. Great place to work. End of story. Overseeing multiple accounts from other organizations/companies to ensure constant provided services. Responsible for greeting up to 50 visitors per day, distribute and collect proper paperwork for clients depending on their visit. Schedule and confirm client office visit appointments, transportation, emergency food, and case management visits. Maintaining and running an emergency food market with 3,000lbs of food processed bi-weekly. The contact to resolve any client pertained issue or concerns

Cempa Community Care offers a very open-minded and casual environment/culture. A day at Cempa Community Care which requires a team focus and must be adaptable and accepting of all walks of life. A day at work is not always the same. Management is open to suggestions and is not into micromanaging. There are no hard parts to the job because if you work there it's because you like what you do. There are many enjoyable parts of the job as the team makes it so.

Micromanaged.  Favoritism.  Good pay but worst management I’ve ever worked for.  If you’re not gay or black, you’re out of luck, and I’ve got nothing against either group, for my best friend is gay and black.  Never seen such a great turn over as in that place, all because every management member wants to micromanage everyone.  Seen great, dedicated people leave due to lack of poor management. Not recommend working there at all,  

Working at Cempa is rewarding and provides opportunities to meaningfully impact others' lives.  Work with clients is independent allowing for creativity.  There are opportunities for dedicated employees to grow and contribute to this organization.  

This job is a very fulfilling job. The most enjoyable part of the job is a sense of giving back to the community. It is undergoing some positive changes to include more consumers.
