Working at Centivo has been the worst career move I’ve made thus far. From the time we log in until  we go home it’s back to back to back calls. There is no time to compose yourself or take a breather whatsoever. We spend all day getting yelled at, told how terrible the company is, how lazy we are, and how incredibly incompetent we are by our members, and even our providers. 

Most of Centivo’s issues are derived outside of member care such as our clients not providing updated information for us to share with our members. Nobody seems to care about this because they don’t have to take the abusive phone calls from the irate members and providers. Management micromanages you every chance they get. If you had a really bad call and need a minute or two to compose yourself, forget about it. Your supervisor is telling you to get back in queue. 

There is no path for development and growth. You’re left on an island to figure it out for yourself. I’ve never felt so unsupported at a job. Centivo hides behind the fact that they are a start up even though they have been in business for  seven years. They don’t invest in their employees future at all. They don’t match 401k, and they don’t develop talent. This place is an absolute joke. They can’t keep good people due to being understaffed. And they wonder why people call in. The answer is simple: you’re burning the heck outta good people, and not doing enough to reward them accordingly. Heed my advice: RUN don’t walk!!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The equipment provided was outdated and often not powerful enough to handle daily work efficiently. Multiple software systems were required to complete the same tasks, each more complicated than the last, and many of them only worked properly part of the time. In my case, there were two systems where my permissions issues were never fully resolved despite repeated attempts to fix them.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The division of responsibilities was also frustrating and unfair. It became clear over time that many managers had never actually performed the same work expected of analysts, which created unrealistic expectations and a disconnect between leadership and employees. Project timelines were consistently unrealistic as well.

The turnover rate was one of the worst I have experienced. In my department alone, four employees left within two months. There were rarely formal announcements or updates when employees departed, which further contributed to poor communication and instability within the team.

Despite pretty good work-life balance, we still spend the majority of our waking hours at work, so it's nice to be surrounded by smart, thoughtful, driven and overall good humans. Centivo's mission sets the tone for how we operate - we're trying to change the face of healthcare and make it more affordable for those with company-sponsored insurance. As such, it tends to attract passionate individuals who are working hard to achieve a common goal. It's a start-up, so there are always bumps along the way, but that's part of the adventure. Overall, I'm a big fan.

As a newer company, growing pains are to be expected. But they made it very clear when I interviewed that there was work to be done in creating processes and efficiencies. And in the several years I've been at Centivo, we've made great strides. I have been in this industry for almost 30 years and I have to say that I've never felt more appreciated or respected than I do here. The people that I work with are wonderful. No job is perfect but I can honestly say that I love my job at Centivo. 

The company’s mission is to have a health plan that people can actually afford to use and I believe most of us our driven by that mission. There are a ton of smart eager team members that are working collaboratively to accomplish the company goals. It’s not perfect and leadership recognizes that. The work is an uphill battle when we are fighting against giants in the industry. Our CEO has said multiple times (during biweekly company huddles) that we need to work twice as hard to get half as far. It’s not a cake walk but management trusts in the team to problem solve the issues without micromanaging our every move; however, they make themselves available as needed. The best part is that we are growing professionally. 

The whole problem boils down to one thing — we just didn't have the actual tools or systems in place to execute anything properly. I came in wanting to do real work, build something, whatever, but immediately hit this wall where like, nothing was there, everything was outdated or broken or just missing, which honestly gets old when you're the one trying to figure it out. You spend all your time fixing problems that shouldn't exist instead of doing the actual work. It's exhausting. Can't build anything solid when the foundation doesn't exist. At some point, you just accept that you can't make results happen when the resources aren't there.

Terrible work life balance. Staffing is a huge issue.   Ageism exists regardless of experience in the industry.  company is far from transparent regarding roles and responsibilities.  Management doesn't care about developing staff.  Unorganized company and is constantly putting out fires because the upper management refuses to listen to a longer implementation plan to do things correctly.  This company shouldn't consider itself as a start up anymore but because of the disorganization this company will not last in the industry as it cannot provide the experience it promised for members/clients or employees.

I love waking up every morning knowing that in ways big and small I am contributing to Centivo's mission of restoring healthcare affordability for American workers - and their employers. We also reward providers who are actually succeeding in making value-based care a reality. Taking on some of the biggest, most successful companies on the planet is no easy task and sometimes progress can feel painfully slow, but that makes winning even sweeter. If you think a person living paycheck to paycheck with a 10k health insurance deductible is fine, then Centivo is not the right place for you. If it stirs a sense of outrage, apply right now!

Poor training, no support from management and supervisors. Quick to tell you you did something wrong instead of what you did right.

Stressful environment. Everyone worried of losing their job.

A typical day is asked to do many task even if you have no training or access to tools to do your job.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Would not recommend working there. They pick and choose who stays and goes and make it very obvious they have favorites. Was barely trained on what u will actually be doing in my position.

Understanding what is actually even going on.

They actually give u a lot of stuff .probly to make up for the fact that the company is terrible.
